I can't speak for the collective, but I wasn't so much as whining as responding to (what I believed to be) the opinion that this was the second coming of vindicate or ajani vengeant. This card is fine, good even, and almost certainly a staple, but lets not get too excited over a rarely important line of text.
I'm not excited over the extra line of text. I'm excited because my WU control decks got another 4cc wrath. Which is just awesome news! I don't think anybody was assuming this was the next Vindicate or Ajani V. I think people are stoked that W/U control gets a great tool.
I do really like the card. I just don't want to cut Geist or Colonnade for it (they are both awesome) and I don't feel like it's exciting enough to cut Venser for it. I have a feeling we'll get something better than him before RTR is done.
Frankly, I think the biggest argument in favor of this card is that it lets you cut Day of Judgment out of your white section.
what? i don't understand any part of this sentence. cutting day of judgment sounds like a terrible idea even at a small size, and replacing a white card with a gold card doesn't make any sense either. verdict is playable in a fraction of the decks day is playable in.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

Day of Judgment is on its way out IMO. Maybe not in larger cubes for a while but its really not that great in Cube.

because of all those regenerators...? or is wrath of god on its way out, too? if day of judgment is being cut, i can only assume control vs. control is the normal match ups for that cube. that's not the case in my own cube.
anyway, if DOJ isn't good enough, why would a worse version be good enough?

I think I'm going to indirectly be able to cut Catastrophe when I add this card. I have an unnatural love for Martial Coup so that will be my last "overcosted" wrath remaining in my Cube. Are other people thinking of cutting overcosted wraths? Or have people already cut most of them? I'm mostly thinking of cards like Rout, Akroma's Vengeance and Terminus.

Akroma's Vengeance is sweet, and I still run it, I cut martial coup and rout a long time ago and haven't looked back. Cutting catastrophe is wrong though, that card is so much better than the sum of it's parts.

Want to Cube but don't have one? Check the map if anyone is in your area and get cubing!
Why are people looking to cut a wrath effect for this? If I am playing control, I want as many wrath effects that I can get my hands on, especially at 4 CMC.

If you think the balance of cards in your cube is good, then when you add a control card, you remove a control card. If I get one of these while drafting I'm sure to try it, but doubt I'll buy one in the early going. If I do get one, I'll be cutting some over costed wrath variant I'm currently running.
I'm excited about increasing the concentration of wraths specifically for UW control. Unlike if they had printed another mono-white wrath, the increased concentration with a single extra multicolored one won't upset the balance you've created for the cube. If you want this, you probably want your white wraths too. With that being said, cutting one of the lesser wraths in the white section wouldn't be a bad idea because this one's available; but removing a good one because this is available doesn't seem like a good idea.

unless blue is the only color white pairs with to make control decks in your cube, adding this and cutting a monowhite wrath will not result in balance. it will reduce the number of wraths available in your drafts.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I am feeling. U/W would love to get their hands on a wrath that other W/X or U/X control decks are not going to fight over (assuming they are not U/W).

I've done the opposite. Akroma's Vengeance almost always does collateral damage to mana rocks or bomb enchantments on your side, while the five-mana sweepers like Rout hit earlier and are easier to plan for. Austere Command does a much more accurate job of hitting the permanents you want, so that's my 6CC wrath alongside Catastrophe. Minus hitting planeswalkers (which I will concede can be clutch), the Vengeance is just a Planar Cleansing with cycling, which I wouldn't consider cube material thanks to the variety of 5CC and 6CC wraths available.
Yeah, Catastrophe >>> Command and Rout. The ability to just end games with destroying all lands is just huge. If your cube really pushes aggro decks, you honestly want all the 4 CMC wraths you can get.

I am pretty excited that I get to place this in my Azorius section. It gets rid of a meh card and also provides us with a wrath that will likely not get pilfered by the W/B control deck that sometimes floats around. Would have killed if it was 2WU but I guess that would make it a little too busted.

Not sure. I know wraths are more central to UW control plans in my cube than other control decks.
This. You need to have your Wraths if you want full control (or Upheaval;)). If you don't have enough Wraths generally you have to play more creatures and become more midrange-control.
Red- white control has burn, black-white has black removal, blue gives counters but you can't counter everything. Though you can always try:p

This. That's why I'm so glad that it's getting a wrath that's exclusive to the guild. The W/U deck will have an extra wrath every time it wants one if the Verdict is in the pool.
