Seems like a solid card. You get your Chainwalker and it's a 1/2 when you want to block instead of a 2/1 (meaning he does better vs tokens), and you get to make that decision every turn instead of just once.

I like how the Chinwalker can kill off a 2-power attacker on defense, but it's nice being able to chump-block later on in the game and bash for 3 early. Might play it over the Gore-House dude for a while, we'll see.
I definitely though this said borderland minotaur when I first glanced at it, and couldn't figure out why someone made a thread for that.
On topic, I like it substantially better than chainwalker because I have never seen chainwalker cast leashed and had the 2 power be relevant, and they attack as exactly the same creature but this one can block on t5 if you need it to after you curved into it on t2 and attacked a couple times.
I think this almost an auto-replace unless you have some kind of counters matter theme, and would not fault anyone for playing both.
Very nice, and yet another Human for a couple other cards.

We've been doing red's low drops as a split between Goblins and Humans. Goblins are just better than the generic(bad) beaters red has otherwise. And if you don't want a heavy red deck you still have the red humans available to you -- plus some of the Goblins are decent even without tribal support.
You can also get a pretty good token subtheme going using goblins as well.

I tried to figure out what you were saying here for a while, did you mean 2 toughness attacker?
I think this guy is actually stronger than chainwalker most of the time because I always have the option of blocking. Great card, I will definitely play it.
It's sweet that he's a human too, as others have mentioned. Champion of the Parish is testing okay, this can only make him better.
I'd like to see an uncommon or rare 1R pushed beater.
Agreed, like a Spike Jester for 1R. That would be sweet.
In regards to the card in the OP, I think that Borderland Marauder will be an easy include in my red section. Aggressive, survives a Llanowar Elves chump block, and can also block itself if needed.
I think she's significantly better than Chainwalker. She can be a useful body when you have no attacks, stop 1-power attackers repeatedly, and doesn't make you settle for a piker when you need to hedge your bets.
Come to think of it, there's only one situation where Chainwalker is better in a vacuum: you need to trade with a 2-toughness attacker, and you're sure of it from the moment you play him. I'd cube her over Chainwalker in all circumstances.
I didn't like Chainwalker so much, this guy is really worth playing though since you can always chump him. Makes me hope that black gets at least a card from this set! I accept a cubeable GB Garruk <3.
Is Champion worth playing at 450-500 right now? (I Have 39 humans)
You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
I'll be running both because I like having a lot of splashable Aggro cards in R. Ash Zealot is great, but doesn't slot as well into my RG, RB, or RW builds. Often, I'll take Gorehouse Chainwalker over that card if I know I'm in two colour aggro just because of the flexibility, so having more at this CMC is great.
It kind of led me to a thought experiment after I caught myself wishing it had Haste. Would you guys cube this:
Frathouse Chainbanger (title in progress) - 2R
Haste
Whenever ~ attacks, it gets +2/+0 until end of turn.
1/2
Would it need to be 2/2 to be playable?

Whoops, yes. That's what I meant.
This guy is very likely better than the Chainwalker, and I'll be making that swap I think.
I'm very confidant he's better than chain walker.
I've played chain walker a lot in standard and the number of times he's unable to block after I unleash him and it's cost me the game is not insignificant.
The scenario of attacking for 3 -> holding this guy back to chump , then win via burn.
Is way more common than playing chainwalker leashed from your hand AND 2 power is relevant.
Plus the only time 2 vs 1 power in this chumping situation is relevant is in the agro mirror which is relatively uncommon in cube.
