I really like this card, but it would be so much better if it followed the rest of the cycle's convention and have the abilities cost 5. It also seems like a win-more card to me, but I'd be willing to test it over Sun Titan when it comes out. Having a super anthem effect that also gives Lifelink and Vigilance can be pretty big game.

I's first strike and lifelink, not vigilance and lifelink for his ability, which I think is actually better (who needs vigilance when you are gaining a ton of life, and first strike lets your team get through deatouchers). I agree that it would be great if his abilities cost 5, bur that would make the green and black ones super sad. I think this and the red one are definitely the most powerful of the cycle.
He's a 6-drop that, if you untap with him, you essentially win, and that can give you some value from the yard. I don't like him as much as sun titan becasue un titan has so many fun interactions, but this guy is definitely powerful. I'm not sure if he's good enough, but his from the graveyard ability definitely makes him pass the vindicate test much better than all of the others in this cycle with the possible exception of the red one. Even if this guy dies, you can do something like new elspeth (or tirel), make three guys, and you get to swing for 9 lifelink next turn uncounterable.

Yeah you're about the First Strike, my bad. In terms of Sun Titan, what fun interactions are you referring to? I actually find it lacking as a curve-topper most of the time.

Sun titan is a fun recursion engine with stuff like man o war, o-ring, strip mine, viridian shaman, etc, pretty much anything 3cmc or less with a sac effect and a CITP ability. Going sun titan, man o war to bounce your blocker, swing with team feels great. Getting back little jace or liliana OTV also feels great. Anyway, I don't wanna derail this thread anymore, so that's all I'll say about titan. Suffice to say I think titan has more interactions with other cube cards which gives it a higher ceiling, where with this pretty much what you see is what you get (not that that's bad.)
I am currently trying out Dictate of Helliod and 5 mana is pushing the limits for an anthem. Elesh Norn is special because it kills the opponents board too. This also suffers from not getting the bonus for your team the turn it is played.
And this should cost 5, I don't care if it makes the other look sad, they are sad. I saw deadbridge goliath perform as a giant nothing special and I expect the same from the soul bros.
Don't get me wrong, I am sure it is a house is limited and might be in the top 5 of 6+ drops for white, but control decks are usually the only ones that have that much white mana. The other souls like the red one can be activated eot. How bad is it do drop this guy, then dump 6 mana into him the next turn only to then have him killed in response, or worse yet bounced. But oooooo I get to spend 5 mana again turn 8 to maybe do something. No thanks

Not that I think this guys is terribly playable, but you do still get the effect for the rest of your team even if he gets bounced/killed. He's obviously a guy that wants other creatures in play.
Oh yeah, but in the control or g/w midrange deck he would end up in, getting a one turn bump for the couple other creature you have won't be enough to compensate for the blowout.
Would we play this card
Big White Guy 4WW
Vigilance
When ~ attacks creatures you control have +2/+2 first strike and lifelink

I say no way but it feels about the same to me.
I think that card is substantially worse than the soul. Either way, I'm probably not going to advocate testing him in our cube as I think he is worse than sun titan and titan is not an all-star by any means.
I feel like this, New Phyrexia, and Shandalar all fall into the same category: probably the best option at their CMC outside of the current frontrunners (titans, Elspeth, Wurmcoil), but not good enough to supplant any of them or force their way in. It's nice for bigger cubes to have another good option at 6, especially when they get art as awesome as this.
Ive thought about it a bit and i may test thid in the spot of dictate of heliod, which worked wonders due to the tokem swarms that happen in my cube. Uncounterable and 2 keywords is worth one mana and neing in the graveyard. His real body is just gravy
I like him *with* Elspeth though. Churn out tokens, pump them up with his guy while they're out, eventually work up to her ultimate. It's not for the top tables but it's not bad. Seems like something fun that could work at locals.
Once again, the activated ability is so mana intensive that you're just not getting your mana's worth for a 6CMC creature. There are already so many faster and less mana intensive options for anthem effects that I already can't find room for in my cube, so I'm finding it really hard to get excited about this. Getting to use its activated ability from the graveyard seems to me like an even worse consolation prize in this case because it requires you to have a board presence and 6 mana available for it to do anything.

I think if I were in the market for another white 6 drop in addition to Sun Titan and Elspeth, Sun's Champion I'd probably be looking at Twilight Shepherd, Yosei, the Morning Star, or maybe even Captain of the Watch over Soul of Theros.
