When an opponent searches their library, that player sacs a creature and loses 10 life.
Whenever another creature dies, put a +1/+1 counter on [CARDNAME]
4/4
This guy is seriously pushed. He won't make an early impact, but if the game doesn't end immediately he makes things VERY difficult for your opponent.

I'm not convinced, he looks cubeable but nothing I would consider a staple. Are there any cards that force your opponent to shuffle in cubes? We also have yet to see the Souls of X for black.

I really don't think this is a great cube card. Other then making path to exiles into council's judgement, he is a 4/4 flying trampler for 6 that can get bigger, I heavily prefer Grave titan and massacre wurm in my 6 slot for black fatties.
I don't think this thing is "pushed" at 6 mana at all. It hoses searching effects, but not until really late in the game. Oh, and it's a 6cc investment that dies without guaranteeing you any value. Pass.
It would certainly have me very interested at 5 CMC. The ability is pretty high yield in a small cube where we see fetches and tutors an awful lot. Plus being a 4/4 trample flyer for 5 is a reasonable baseline when it can grow quite comfortably to BSA size. Add to that the shallow depth of black 5CMC (just Shreikmaw and Herald of Torment) and you have a recipe to pique my interest right there. But at six mana, that's a tough sell which is a real shame, particularly as it's not an amazing reanimator target.
I would only start looking at this guy in the 4 cmc range. Soooooo expensive to try to punish shuffling effects. I have no idea why they made this card like this. Modern and Legacy and even cube would love more ways to punish the fancy people and their fetch lands. But how is this supposed to be any good when every shuffle effect my opponent plays are way cheaper?
Might as well not even have the interaction with fetch lands because he comes down so late, unless you're in reanimator in which case why aren't you getting a better creature instead?
So, he's a 4/4 flyer for 6 that very occasionally shuts down late tutor spells, tooth/chord/natural order effects, and pod if your cube runs it. The ability is too narrow to be good, and I don't think a 4/4 flyer for 6 that has the chance to grow when other creatures die is good enough on its own in anything but a huge cube.
As a flying trampler Abyssal Persecutor is just leagues better, and his ability can be played around pretty easily, I think this OB will go the way of Nefarox, overlord of grixis in the cube community.
I really dislike the first ability and think it is terrible design. Sacrifice a creature and lose 10 life? 10 life? What a convoluted way to say "Opponents can't search their libraries". Yeah, I guess this is meant for Commander, where 10 life isn't as insane as in constructed or limited, but it is still a super ham-fisted way to convey this. I would have liked it if it were 3 life, since that is the life-loss that Ob Nixilis, the Fallen inflicts. That, and reducing the casting cost to 3BB.
Shame they wasted Ob Nixilis' return card on a flavorless demon. They could have done amazing things with a demon planeswalker.
This is a hard pass for cube. Black gets 6/6 flying tramplers for 4, not 4/4's for 6.
Also, it's going to lead to way too many random feel bads where someone absentmindedly cracks their fetchland and loses an otherwise interesting match.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
As a total Fallen-version homer, I was disappointed to see the Unshackled version be so bad. I started with the 4BB and immediately thought, can this really be better than Grave Titan? Nope.
At 2BB, Flying, Trample and if the ability when opponent searched was loss of 3 life and sac a creature + his +1/+1 whenever a creature dies, I think you could talk some of us into it.

I don't think shuffle = search?
Oh, my bad. I was skimming through the comments and was just responding to the poster who thought he said shuffle instead of search.
I don't think I will test this guy, even if it did combo with the all-powerful Soldier of Fortune.

Exactly what I was thinking. From the name, I thought Ob got his 'walker spark back and was a new black walker. Oh well.
