This card seems pretty nifty. 2/1 for 1R is the normal standard body at this point so that isn't that special but the scry effect is interesting. It kind of reminds me of a more aggressive Looter il-Kor. I am not sure but I will probably try it out.
I'm really tempted by this card, but I think its going to be too weak. Ilkor having shadow means you get that effect multiple times, and have a great equipment wielder, whereas the skink dis to everything in combat.
I do like a red creature that my opponent will want to block perhaps more than my jackal pup. Nice that throwing it into a wall does something too. I like it because unlike pain seer it isn't straight useless if they can kill it in combat.
Very nice card, and I'm surprised that Red gets this.
Repeatable scrying is strong, but how many triggers will you realistically get from this? 1-2 at most, I think, and in the meantime you're missing out on the extra damage most other red 2-drops provide.
I'm pretty sure I like Pain Seer more than this, since drawing a card is still much better than scry 1. To be fair, a red Pain Seer would be a 360 Staple.
This was the card that most caught my attention for regular cubes while perusing the spoiler. I don't think it's 360-quality, but it's definitely a contender in larger cubes. Getting repeatable filtering in Red is pretty boss, especially when it gets to beat down for two in the process.

This little guy caught my eye, too. I recently thought that I should probably replace the RREmber Hauler with another 1R creature. Still, I am not sure if it is better than something that is harder to block (like Ashmouth Hound) or that deals more damage (like Kruin Striker).
This seems way worse for Red than Omenspeaker is for Blue. Even in the best case scenario you have to wait for your 4th turn before you get value out of it. If you are interested in a good pseudo looter for red, just take a look at Countryside Crusher. Another problem that I can see is that you would have to cast this over one of the other 2 drops in your hand that has a higher damage output.
Why the 4th turn? The minute he attacks you get the effect so that should be turn 3.

I think he's referring to how its effect won't have actually changed the game at all until the next time you draw after your third turn, so it doesn't give you value out of it until then.

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
It not 100% irrelevant though. Being able to slightly fix your next draw could lead to better plays for your currrent turn. It good actually, but not better than my current list of 2 drops.
Seems pretty weak compared to what we've been getting for 1R these days. I think I would unequivocally play either torch fiend maindeck before this guy.
2/1 for 1R still pretty much IS industry standard. I am running 9 creatures with that cost that are meant to attack and 5 are 2/1s with an upside (4 if you count Gore-House Chainwalker as a straight up 3/2). And after that, pretty much all the remaining options that are remotely cubable are 2/1s with an upside. It mostly comes down to how good those upsides are. I fear that the upside for Sigiled Skink is not high enough though.
Btw, all 2/2 (or better) for 1R have a drawback (except for Frazzled Editor, but most cubes don't use UN cards).

So I don't think it's good enough, unfortunately.

Juju Alters - Altered MTG Cards
Scrying is nice and all , but its very marginal value. A 2/1 for 1R is NOT industry standard. Maybe it was like 10 years ago, but not anymore.
1 toughness vs 2 is a huge liability

I dont think that qualifies as the body being industry standard.
Guess it's a definition thing tho.
Dark confidant can be classified as a "2/1 with upside" but IMO that is selling him way short.
They are all MUCH better than a 2/2 with alternate ability of scry 1 when attacks heh. Possibly even a 2/3.
