I love him but I'm fairly certain he qualifies as a pet card. He's not the fastest but he really does help you seal up a game. Got him in my last draft and my opponent had no way to deal with him, which was nice for me. I'd likely side him out vs aggro but he's safe in my cube for a while, especially since I'm moving up in size.
He is my favorite Izzet card behind Dack Fayden, the card closes out games and continues to impress me in every format. Can't see a day where I cut this card.
It's a little slow and expensive, but it's a powerful effect and it's hard to get rid of. Good in grindy control mirrors. But I prefer most of Izzet's usual suspects, as they help Izzet out in its more problematic matchups.
I am considering dropping Keranos for either Izzet Charm or Fire / Ice, just not sure which one I like better. I have had a fondness for Keranos but it may be time to finally make a change.
Started playing Keranos as my 4th Izzet spell over Fire // Ice for the past month, I've been pretty impressed with him in decks that just survive to win. Goes well in control / spells matters / moat decks. Being an indestructible enchantment is extremely difficult to deal with and makes him very inevitable. Enlighten Tutoring for Keranos is really fun.
I have always liked Keranos in my cube.
He is not directly comparable to most of the other usual Izzet spells except for maybe Ral Zarek. I think Keranos is better than Ral.
Isn't it just a glorified Honden of the Seeing Winds that bolts *sometimes*?
He’s inevitability for decks that just survive to win, like Moat / Abyss decks and hard control decks that just want to grind. Surviving your own / your opponent’s sweepers is also really nice. He may seem slow, but he’s been awesome in decks designed to specifically slow / stop the game.
