I would not have said that my cube supported artifact.dec, but fueled by a 1st pick Myr Battlesphere into 2nd pick Lodestone Golem, I decided to go all in and see what would happen. Does this deck look in any way reasonable?
So part 1 of my question is looking for feedback on this particular deck/draft. I'm also wondering if it might make sense to add any other cards to support this "archetype" to my cube. But feel free to tell me this is a terrible deck or a terrible idea in general. I won't be offended; it was deliberately outside the box.
Part 2 of my question is about peculiar archetypes in general. Have you ever seen a deck come together that wasn't planned for in your cube design? Have you ever drafted a deck that seems to defy the typical classifications? Does your cube deliberately support any archetypes not seen in other cubes?
1 - It's a reasonable deck, but it's not an artifact.dec archetype build. It's just mono-white midrange/control with a lot of colorless cards in it. It only has 1 card in it that takes advantage of artifacts or makes them better. It would be like saying you have a "reanimator" deck because you have a lone Animate Dead in your BUG control deck.
2 - Before I was actually supporting the Pox/Stax deck, it would occasionally come together by accident just drafting black aggro and grabbing Skullclamp, Liliana, 'Blossom, Braids, Smokestack, Bloodghast, and the like. Before Pox/Smallpox/Skeleton and friends were even added to the list.
That's a good point about the lack of "true" artifact deck cards included.
Similar to your story about adding Pox and "Unassuming" Skeleton because you saw decks like that being drafted, it makes me wonder if I ought to look at stuff like "the Tezzerets" which I had not considered (being weaker in an unpowered cube like mine, I imagine). It's been a LONG time since I ran Etherium Sculptor. Hmmm...
Interestingly, the newly spoiled Ugin would be great in a deck like this. Maybe adding him plus All is Dust would open up the colorless decks a bit more.
