I had this in a pretty subpar UBr (with Ral as my splash) failed attempt at forcing UB tempo.
Regardless, Dack Fayden was extremely good even if all it did was loot as I had no targets for the ultimate to turn into Control Magics and I never really saw any artifacts that I cared about. It absolutely shreds through your deck. This picture articulates it nicely:
This is nearly an auto first pick for me. I love making the sort of decks that abuse this effect, I love the fun -2, and I'm a fan of the comics, no matter how unexciting they are.
Can we have planeswalkers of this level for more two-color combos please?
I'm not even sure it needed the second ability to be an autoinclude. Double loot on turn three is just going to be awesome. Pushing the powerlevel of the gold walkers is a great call, and I hope it continues.

I am pretty sure this is a special occasion due to this card not being legal in modern or standard. Stuff like 2 loyalty Kiora and 5 mana Ajani seem to indicate the opposite.
Draftable like MM. I assume that the cards will come in foil, per previous un-sets (I've a foil Togglodyte that I used in previous sets.)
Also, the more that I think of it, the more that I relate it to akin to Ajani Goldmane or Koth of the Hammer - planeswalkers used mainly for 1 ability, but with an ability that's so good that it's irrelevant that its other abilities are worse. Granted, stealing an artifact is much better than the gain 2 on Ajani/the minus on Koth - think about how often you end up copying artifacts with Phyrexian Metamorph. Still, the ability is very good in the circumstances when it matters (like stealing some giant robot or even a clutch mana rock) and it's pretty stellar, even as a splash, as I found on Tuesday.
PS, could the tag at the start of the thread be changed so that it no longer says unconfirmed?
I haven't playtested him yet, but it seems to me that if you get to use the -2 it is often backbreaking (or at the least swings the game heavily in your favor). Equipment is often a deciding factor for aggressive decks in my cube games, and mana rocks are the same for control decks.
That's what I mean, when it comes up, it'll definitely be big game and should swing games (similarly with Koth's -; there'll be times when you - it to get something big into play, but for the most part, it's making 4/4s), but it may not be as much as one may think. That said, it's still nice and better than Ajani's + or Koth's -.
We drafted last night with it proxied; no testing results for it unfortunately because no one was Izzet. But that does say that it didn't pull anyone into that guild.
I don't know. I'm not completely sold yet. Sure, you can get lucky and drop this on someone with a juicy artifact already out, but I don't know how often that will really happen. I'm making it a point to keep track of my opponent's artifacts in play to decide if he's worth testing. The repeatable looting IS great, but I also run faithless looting and have found that there are already more scenarios in which it's not a card I'm willing to cast more often than I had anticipated. On the other hand, I could see this guy being completely bonkers and regret making this post. What is the right cut though? Electrolyze oozes value, Prophetic Bolt is a high-impact top end card for the 'spells matter' deck, Steam Augury is always amazing, and Ral Zarek at least represents removal and a +ability with combo potential.
The fact that you don't loose a card with this in order to loot is what I like about it. I don't run Faithless Looting because I didn't like the loss of card advantage for card selection in most of my decks. That made it a GY deck enabler only. The fact that I get to loot and keep my walker allows me to have all of the upsides of Faithless Looting (except for the 1 mana cost) with none of the downsides . . . plus the upside of snagging an artifact occasionally. I would take that deal.
The repeatable looting ability alone is worth replacing any Izzet card besides Ral. Do you have any idea how good filtering through 2 extra cards per turn really is?

I guess I don't. I'll probably test it over Electrolyze.
Steam Augury really hasn't set our world alight so will be our cut for Dack. Izzet Charm would be an acceptable cut too but we like how cheap and versatile that card is.
Just playing a few games yesterday made me realise how good his [-2] potentially is - there are a ton of occasions where dropping Dack would've really swung the game.
Augury was a disappointment. I broke down the math pretty aggressively in the SCD upon it's release, and figured it would be a strong card.
My math was correct but my assumptions were wrong. The situations where the card is poor value are when some cards in your deck are worth basically nothing (lands @ 4 mana in counter burn), or there is one card that is worth so much more than the rest of the cards.
Those two situations turned out to happen MUCH more than I wished. Specifically digging for answers in control decks, or avoiding lands in counter-burn. One card tends to be so much more useful than another in a situation that making sure you don't get that card turns out to be too weak.
Part of the reason it's not seeing any constructed play. Card draw is generally not wanted in proactive decks, and with reactive decks, specific answers are too valuable.
Proxied him up. Managed to get a 8 man draft of my cube.
Was playing a RUG natural order deck, and he ended up wheeling in the draft to me second last pick.
Put him in main deck, and he only got to see play once. Looted with him a couple times vs a green/x mirror, and felt the power of the loot effect. Was a board stall and needed to find one of my two remaining fatties to break through it, card seemed very useful in this spot.
My opponent wasted resources to kill him AND I got some value with two turns of looting.
Pretty darn good for 3 mana.
I boarded him out as my opponent had only 1 relevent artifact, and needed to board in a couple sweeper effects to deal with his tokens and allow my fatties (wurmcoil engine, Terastadon) to punch through.

Those are the two cards that I am considering as cuts, too. And I am also leaning towards Augury, since Charm is cheaper, more versatile and more reliable.
I've found it very lacklaster :/ It seems pretty dependent on the speed of each individuals cube format as to whether its a hit or miss... at least that's what it seems like.

Against a deck with mana rocks, batterskull/wurmcoil etc, Id rather have this than jace the mindsculptor.
Not saying he's a better planeswalker , since the best planeswalkers are fine in all matchups, but his upside is the highest out of them all IMO.
Testing could prove otherwise, but I highly doubt it.

I think a Moderator has to do that, because I was unable to change it.
EDIT: Never mind, I figured out how to do it
