From a Cube standpoint, I'm glad TNN isn't 1WW. Can you imagine this card in an aggro color?!
I've actually been saying that about this card for a long time; the fact that it is blue is a mark for it's inclusion, not exclusion. It's actually a way more fair card than it would be in an aggressive color. I said it on our podcast about Commander, too...which should hopefully be up soon!

I'd actually really like it if TNN were green. Something about protection from a player on a creature seems distinctly green to me. Anyway, it's blue, so there isn't much point in wishing it otherwise, and now I get more support for blue tempo decks that I love so much.
I continue to get blown out looking for Mind Seizes. Having paid $40 for one at Toys R Us in the town in which I live, I have missed all 3 copies put out at the Wal-Marts here...I was going to one of them DAILY, and they never put them out. I took one day off of going, and then return the next day...
...to find 2 sets of decks put out, but only the 2 Mind Seizes were purchased
Luckily, I went on a driving tour of small town Georgia Walmarts last weekend, and found 2 at MSRP. It's still awkward that I missed the TWO put out at the walmart approx. a half mile from where I work!

What really makes him special is that he can go into any blue deck. And he's amazing in both tempo and control. He's got ideal power for his cost. And he's pretty hard to get rid of. But I really don't think he's over powered compared to some of the more degenerate (read: awesome) cards we run in our blue sections. He just another new different kind of awesome and you just gotta respect that. We're still keeping the resident Mind Sculptor in our cubes right?
We've liked Nemesis so far. Though he was outraced by Archangel of Thune last night. It was a very fun game to watch.
Wondering if anyone has had some good testing with this guy and decided to cut on power level? We've seen him in 5 drafts, he's been in main decks every time. I've played with him and against him and it is just very difficult for certain decks to deal with it. Was wondering if others saw similar issues? I'm thinking of cutting it due to playgroup annoyance.

He is fine. I won a game last night against a deck that cast it and had a Jitte on it. Other games ive seen it die to wraths, edicts and countered. He is powerful, but certainly shouldnt be banned unless you are running a very low power cube.

In that case I'd cut it. Playing Cube is something I do for fun. If your playgroup is annoyed, they have less fun or even worse, they stop playing Cube, so it is in your best interest to not play cards that are annoying. I don't run Channel for example because of that.
Just ask them if it truly annoys them or if they are willing to see how bad it really is and just vent their anger about the brokenness of TNN as a release.

I think a lot of the hate is theoretical. In practice, I added a couple of more answers, and its been fine for me. Its not an autowin, even when dropped turn 3.
I think True-Name Nemesis is great. But cube should 100% be caters to your playgroup. If your playgroup doesn't like a card, it doesn't matter if it's a 360 staple (like this one is, in my opinion), go ahead and give it a chop.

I agree, I just think it should be given a chance. A lot of posters chopped it based on perception or theory.
So after my buddy wrecked a 9 player draft with true-name and geist, there were some rumblings about removing the card. It has been strong before, but not this bad. Mostly I give credit to my friend for the good deck.
What I want to do is add some more answers. Black is in good shape, blue has counters, white has wraths. What green, red, and artifact answers are people using for this guy?
Green doesn't have much, but ramping into Trample dudes helps to race it. Red has problems dealing with it, but evasive threats can get over the top of him if they're using him defensively. Try adding in Engineered Explisives as well. It's pretty good, and can be used even in 2-color decks that are "splashing" some good fixing cards to bolster the number of counters you can get on it. Powder Keg isn't perfect, but it's good for removing manlands which the Bomb misses if you want a second one of those kinds of effects. Oblivion Stone is a little slow for a lot of other matchups, but it can be good in control mirrors and can deal with some of the problematic permanents like him. All is Dust too, if you really need more colorless answers.
I'd try 1-2 more green dudes w/ trample, 1-2 more red beaters with flying and adding EE into your colorless section if he's really causing headaches.
Even though red and green can't really kill True-Name Nemesis, they can at least kill equipment. Without equipment, TNN is not that big of a deal, even though it blocks a bit better than I would think appropriate on an evasive three drop.
I think I am going to add a couple more tramples to green, add avalanche riders and smash to smithereens to red, and a little more discard to black.
I will add engineered explosives to colorless as well. These changes are for a variety of reasons but turning up the dial one notch on the other decks is good.
Not that I ma really upset. I have tried for a long time to let simic do somethign besides ramp, and azorious something besides draw go. It turns out Kiroa is great for neutralizing big green threats that attempt to race.
I also think I will try to find an ensnaring bridge, and powder keg for the on deck binder.
Green still has a chance with its fatties and tramplers. But red is completely hosed; needs more flyers/evasion to race since burn is no answer. Is there any possibility that red can handle the n(m)enace???
Yeah, but the damage to mana ratio is awful. It takes 5 mana just to kill Nemesis. They get two attack phases out of it, more if you don't make land drops. And Slide is narrower since it cant be used as reach or walker removal. You need to shave at least one mana off that cost, probably two, before it becomes affordable.
