"If my 7 mana 5/5 stays on the board for a cuouple of turns and I draw a bunch of lands after that point, you might actually be in trouble" MM is bigger than anything else in my cube , can't get chump blocked and your opponent is still in the same trouble when he tries to get rid of it through regular removal. Unless we are talking about a massive number of beasts in your list, the new version is a lot better, since you don't have to decide between the creature and the life, now that damage doesn't stack anymore. While the anti discard ability doesn't show up that often, it is still more than just flavor text.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

As long as I have access to G or B, I pick Gifts significantly higher than the rest. Cryptic is the pick once you already have heavily commited towards blue, which meanst that I don't really want to see it (more than most of the other cards on this list) in my first 18 picks. Condescend's BCS is less impresive than the one of the other 2 cards, but I am yet to draft a blue deck where I would not include it.
In my 450 list I am using the following noncreature cards:
While the first 3 are still excellen in a peassant list, there is no real replacement for drawing 3 for 1, 7 for 0 or the best 2 cards in your deck for 4 mana, not to mention card draw engins that also act as your win condition. Anyway, the next best one is probably Thirst for Knowledge, which just like Compulsive Research did not even make it onto your list. I could also see running Foresee and Jace's Ingenuity in a cube without rares, but the rest looks a good amount weaker.
I have been feeling like Cryptic Command is going the way of Debtor's Knell, which at one point was one of the most powerful cards in my cube. Since I sped everything up, expensive, color-intensive effects, however powerful they might be, are starting to get cut to make room for cheaper, more efficient options which can win the game much faster. Costing UUU often makes command a turn 5+ card in a deck with decent fixing. Arcane Denial comes online on turn 2 (or earlier) and is much more splashable (e.g. playable in more decks).
I don't want to spend 4 mana simply for a ramp spell. Moss still gets you to 6 mana 1 turn earlier while setting your opponent back at the same time. (Also casting a turn 3 MAM -preferably on the play- is just the sickness)
