Nice article from the Mothership in which Ethan Fleischer discovers Junk Cube / Reject Rare Cube / Sphere / whatever else you wish to call a cube filled with horrible cards on purpose.
He then goes and suggests his own using cards with Gatherer community ratings at 2 or less. Not a bad attempt.
Blue seems really strong -there's plenty of reasonable fliers that should be great in the context of this cube, plus some control magics, and limited favourites like Vedalken Dismisser and Voidwielder.
One thing that stuck out to me from the article is something that I think probably helps explain many of the problems that we see in the main MODO cube. Namely that their philosophy in construction is still keeping an eye towards resisting natural complexity creep.
When you're building a Cube out of cards from Magic's entire history, things can get pretty complex once the games get going, especially since the Unpopular Cube is pretty grindy and slow. Vanillas help by being strategically relevant without inducing analysis paralysis.
This means that independent of whether looking at "good" or "bad" cards for cube, WotC is looking to limit the number of complicating factors that would increase the difficulty of board state analysis. I feel that this represents an ideology in conflict with how most of us and cubers in general approach cube construction, and that it likely is responsible for such cards as Vulshok Refugee making an appearance in the MODO cube while they would never make the cut in a normal cube.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

ExpiredRascals you sir are a god-like hero.
