So I've kinda been wanting to run a forum activity in here again.
I don't think I'm quite able to commit to running a full 8-way draft like those common in Limited (and that DerBK ran some years back), and the Rotisserrie drafts that were common in 2012 petered off awhile ago (also, they had the problem that they didn't allow participation for those who didn't land a seat).
Accordingly I'm thinking of running a forum draft where the entire forum gets to as a group pick for a single seat. An example of this can be found here.
Would there be any interest in this? I'd probably run the first using my own cube, but if it was something that people enjoyed, it could be cool to use a different cube for each draft.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

Sure, but the problem with group drafts is I lose interest once the pack makes a dumb pick or decides to force red after picking a shivan dragon or something.
I think it'd be fun, plus allow for further discourse that may improve the future gaming experiences of other cubers as the pros/cons are discussed while a deck is slowly built through voter participation.
I think it would be fun and I'd learn a lot from it. It would be slow-going, but that's fine. I mirror the concern about making bad choices and forcing colors (even the Theros draft you linked to had people talking about that as early as the first pick) but I think it's still worth giving a shot.

That was an ungodly amount of work that seemed to go on f-o-r-e-v-e-r
I also managed countless Mafia games and various other forum games in other forums and i can say without doubt that the 8-man was by far one thing that required the most work from me. While it was undoubtly loads of fun and probably the best way to get the full "draft experience" in a forum, i can only recommend doing this in a team of at least 2 moderators, if you are thinking of doing one of these.
My problem with forum drafts in general is often how long they go on. 45 picks can easily take 3 or more months once you start factoring in that people may not be online on weekends or just miss deadlines for IRL reasons.
Yeah, that workload is why I've been looking at the single seat version of the forum draft. I'm going to be checking with Sene before I do this one though — I understand that he has a spreadsheet that can make the 8-ways go significantly easier, so if it looks like that makes it manageable, I'd be willing to give it a go, workload be damned.*

So looking over this sheet, I think I'm down to give a full 8-way a try.
I'm planning to run it using my own cube, yanking any packs that include cards set-specific, rules-specific, or impossible to play online. This should keep the random nature of the draft while also keeping it accessible to everyone.
Unless there are any objections, I'll throw up sign-ups in the next day or two.

Why would you take out something as awesome as momentary blink?
Also are you planning on playing the final decks on MODO or something?
Blink makes the cut in my cube due to some unique build considerations. Under M10 rules, it's considerably less spicy. It seems most reasonable to remove all special considerations so as to make this accessible to all.
Matches will ideally be played on Cockatrice or whatever online medium suits people.
