After a review of the Articles, Podcasts and Guides subforum in response to some user concerns, we're implementing a new rule for this subforum. From now on, users are restricted to posting one thread per week.
We're always looking to promote content from the cube community on MTGS, so there will be an exception to this rule for any threads containing or promoting discussion of MTGSalvation content. This includes MTGSalvation Articles, set reviews, and articles posted by users as threads.
This rule will not be applied to any existing threads. Any that fail to meet this new rule will be left as is and not be retroactively merged/deleted. This rule will apply to any threads posted from this announcement onwards.
If you have any questions or concerns, we're all ears. =D
I've already discussed this with the mods in private, but I'd like to say a couple things:
1) I'm sorry to the users I inadvertently disrespected by pushing their content down with my many posts. They all put out excellent work and record great podcasts and videos, and it was not my intention to bury your work in Turn One Magic threads.
2) That being said, I am not unapproachable. If people have issues with how I go about my work and distributing it, feel free to message me or post a reply in one of my threads telling me about your concern. I have fun writing my articles and love to share my and Sky's work, but if people are upset with any of the methods I'd like to hash them out when they come up. There is a reason I end all my initial thread posts with "as always, comments and suggestions are appreciated."
From here on out, I'll post a thread with the first article of the week titled "Turn One Magic - April 8th-April 12th" or whatever date we are on.
Too bad. It would be a good idea to keep all of your content in one thread so readers can more easily jump from one article/podcast to another.
I agree. I intend no disrespect towards salmo, but the vast majority of the Turn One Magic threads have a link and a couple of sentences which to me is not enough to justify a new thread. I'm brand brand new to this forum so I have no horse in this race, but I do like a nice clean board.
Having one megathread for each podcast that has a quality original post is a good idea for a couple reasons. It allows users to get all the information about the podcast (logo, host profiles, links to your lists, etc) in /one/ place and to catch up quickly, (as wtwlf said). Second, it keeps the board from getting cluttered by lots of small and/or empty threads, making it easier for new users like myself to browse.
I may be overstepping my bounds here, but it might be more effective to simply make "One megapost per podcast" the rule, rather than putting an arbitrary limit on thread posting. Especially if that's the way you want the forum to look anyway.
I hate having to travel to different threads in order to keep up with a podcast.
Agreed as well. Having one thread for one podcast/article series is way better than one per episode. Look at Joy for Cubing for example: it works really well that way.
I agree with the consensus of one thread per series. It keeps everything nice and neat. If you're producing regular content you'll always be near the top of the page. I'd hope the mods will allow double posts if it's to announce new content.

We wanted to allow people to separate the discussion of content. Forcing megathreads makes it tough to find discussion of what you want (imagine, for example, trying to sift through all discussion of Flores articles in order to find stuff about "Who's the Beatdown?" – obviously not cube specific, but I think it illustrates the point). That's not to mention that it would punish regular producers of cube content by not allowing their articles to get a full airing compared to those that do a single foray into the format and then return to writing about T2. This felt like a good balance between the competing goods.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

Hey sorry this might be off the topic of this thread, but does anyone know if Gather Specimens can be used on Hexproof?
This is definitely not the place for this Your other post is also in the wrong location. There is a Rulings forum this should probably go into. I have "reported" both so they can be merged/moved so hopefully a Mod can get them in the right place.
There are a couple important things to note here. Hexproof only works while the permanent is on the battlefield and Gather Specimens applies before that. And, Hexproof only cares about things that target which Specimens does not do. So, for a couple of reasons, Hexproof (on either a player or permanent) will not prevent anything about Gather Specimens from working.
