Just announcing that all Return to Ravnica spoiler discussion has been moved from the New Card Discussion subforum into the Card and Archetype Discussion subforum.
Would it be possible to not move them so quickly in the future? It seems like most of the discussion until the next expansion is going to center around cards in RtR, so moving them to the main forum might be the right choice, but for that very reason it might be an odd one too.
I apologize if this isn't the right place to voice this concern.
I feel like new set discussion should remain in the new set subforum until it's no longer the new set. So leave Return to Ravnica in the new set forum until we start seeing Gatecrash spoilers and discussions.

I second this possibility. Having a central place to continue discussion of the new cards is good, especially as testing really begins now that we got our hands on the cards.

You guys raise an interesting point. After internal discussion, this is where we are on the matter:
1. We are open to extending the date of NCD transfer for future products. The move, however, will not be reversed for RTR. We feel that there was an adequete amount of warning for this 1-week transfer date (since the NCD idea was established and implemented), and it would be too disorienting to reverse it now.
2. Delaying the transfer until the next set has been released in much too long. We are, however, willing to accept that 1 week may be too short. I'm confident that we'll be able to negotiate a more appropriate amount of time before transfers occur, such as 1 month after product release.
So what we defiantly learned from the RTR season is that we should link the threads before we move them. That way it's much easier to find them and make a list of them.
Furthermore I think it would be smart to make a temporary list of discussed cards in the "New Card Discussion" while a spoiler season is happening. That way we can just copy paste the content of that into the real thread when we move the threads instead of having to make it from scratch.
I furthermore have some ideas of how we can arrange the master-thread with the abundance of new card discussion threads coming in, but I'll take that with MagicFever.
Interesting and valid point, DerBK.
90% (or so) of the new cards in each set are going to be dismissed as unplayable. How do we maintain that so that members of this 90% aren't re-raised in the main C&AD forum at a later date?
And what do we consider the cut-off point for moving ICDs across? One person testing it in their cube? 50% thinking it's cubeable?
Not to throw water on the mods' fire or anything (you guys are doing a wonderful job with a new structure)... just playing devil's advocate.
That'd just clutter up the thread with the links. There are many threads that have been opened that will not ever be relevant again. Don't add that White Noise to the sticky, it is supposed to be clean and easy to navigate.
It's bad enough that all those nonsense threads got dumped into this forum in the first place. Keep the threads out of the Sticky unless they will generate discussion again.
Better yet, screw the old threads, make new ones for the relevant discussion so you can get some threads that are actually worth linking to.

The current policy is that all spoiler SCDs are moved into the main C&AD subforum, and that they will be used for future SCD discussion of those cards. This role includes the need for them to be placed in the Compilation thread, for the sake of complete documentation and so people don't make duplicates. I can imagine restructuring the Compilation thread so that each new set's SCD listings gets its own post, though, in order to prevent adding "white noise" to the Compilation thread.
There are too many issues with implementing ideas such as drawing lines of distinction for what's "worth discussing/cubeable" and what's not. It's much too subjective, and no written structure could ever hoped to encapsulate it in a fair policy.
This policy will not be changed; at least not for a while. It is the policy that was supported by a majority of the community, and there hasn't been enough time to warrant new discussion and a new poll. One is certainly reasonable in the future, so more complete opinions can be collected, but for now the Cube Mod Team will uphold the previous decision made until more real data has been collected on its performance.

All very sensible, I agree.
I guess the only issue then is how we prevent the cluttering of the index thread over time. We're going to end up with some pretty long lists under each colour. We can hardly make a database, though.
Well, at least I don't think we can... as much as that would be in my area of expertise... dammit, now I'm dreaming of web pages like Magiccards.info's Advanced Search...
About the "when" of moving new threads to the main forum: what about synchronizing it with eidolon's cube comparaison thread? Between 1 and 2 months after the set release, the new set is added to his stats. Having the same calendar for everything seems quite logical.
The set is added as soon as it standard legal and supported by deckstats, I simply don't post the data only in a monthly interval, since editing and transferring the posts takes about 1h, not to mention that I need a certain number of cube lists so that the data about the new cards has some relevance. Also updating everything at the 1st means that I can give you the data of the monthly and quarter changes as well.
All very sensible, I agree.

The compilation thread matter is being handled by bondafong, so I'll let him address the concern. If you want to try and cook something up, though, we'd definitely be interested. =D

It is certainly appropriate. =D

If someone makes a duplicate SCD/MCD a mod would just combine threads.
I'm discussing this with bondafong. I'll let him respond to this. Personally, I think this is a fair point.
