@ Magicmerl: What if Shock Medics was something like this
Shock Medics :1mana::symw:
Creature - Human Soldier
Flash
When ~ enters the battlefield, have the next 2 damage that a source of your choice would deal to you and/or permanents you control this turn dealt to target creature or player instead. If you cast ~ on your turn, it enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
1/0
My only concern was that it might have micro text, but if you look the amount of text is about equal to shining shoal.
Crusading Nomad WW
When Crusading Nomad enters the battlefield, search your library for a white creature card with converted mana cost 4 or less and exile it. Put 4 suspend counters on that card. His echoes of valor ring true through many lands.
2/2
Give this guy flanking for extra time spiral goodness.
So concerning the breakdown of White 1CC creatures, we have 3 nearly "sure things" in the Tax Collector and Landwalk Lions. If we have 5 creatures, we'll need one of them to definitely be aggro.
Trainee doesn't seem powerful enough to me. I've submitted my version B Lightning Spirit for your consideration if no one's opposed to the Level Up mechanic. It's a Suntail Hawk that grows into a 3/3 flying doublestriker.
I also like Arctic Wolf, One Armed Bandit, and Growing Knight (other than my own subs) for aggressive creatures. They're all fairly simple.
That leaves one more slot for a controlish/trick creature. I'm fond of Enlightened Sanctifier, Kithkin Duster, Dude Maker, Caravan Quartermaster, Sister of the Silent Lamb. My Daughter of Runes variant (redesigned with evoke after forum suggestions) is pretty good too, I think.
I still think that any one drop 2/1 thats better than Savannah Lions should be legendary or have some other sort of disadvantage to it. Savannah Lions is still an amazing card.

True, but every cube is running at least one white one drop better than a vanilla 2/1. We could give it a disadvantage, but legendary (basically) doesn't mean anything to a card that is only going to be used in cube.
And how many times does a creature get duplicated (especially a one drop)? If I'm going to give them a drawback, it should at least come up more than 1 out of 50 games or it's not even worth the effort.
Isamaru has a drawback, its a legendary creature.
Why is it not worth the effort to come up with a first name for a creature and put the legendary rule in there? It just feels wrong otherwise.
Yes, but they did not design Isamaru for cube. Legendary means virtually nothing in cube, and thus I'm not going to needlessly add it to creatures, just as I wouldn't give a creature the ability to kill a creature with banding if we are not going to have any creatures with banding included.

If we are worried about "feel", it doesn't feel particularly legendary to make a two creatures virtually the same but both legendary. Silver and White Knight agree with me.

It does if they are legendary Lion brothers from an epic pride of lions, defending their territory for the good of all lion kind.
Fangclaw, Protecter of the North and his brother Brightmane, Protecter of the South are really hurt by your dismissive attitude towards their pride!
I vote we name the Protection cats, Jake and Elwood.
I have no problem with making a card strictly better than S. Lions for a cube environment. As long as they are legendary. Otherwise it just doesn't jive right with me.
Also, I don't think we can get away with using the legendary clause as a way to slightly beef up creatures all that many times.

So you want to make the legendary even though you admit that is almost completely pointless in cube? I'm sure I don't understand.
I'll throw the protection Lions out there. Still like them better than the walking lions (protection is very white) but I'm admittedly biased.
I would keep the one drops fairly simple:
Flameside Lion W
Protection from Red
2/1
=======================================
Bogside Lion W
Protection from Black
2/1
======================================= Mother of Blessings W
1: Target Creature you control gains protection from red, blue, green or black. Use this ability once per turn.
0/4
=======================================
Proud Knight WW
3/3
First Strike
If ~ is the target of a spell or effect, sacrifice it. (Hmmm, doesn't feel very white. Any suggestions on drawbacks?)
I think that mother would be a bit too good, but hey. Everything seems to be on this powerlevel.
I think that mother would be a bit too good, but hey. Everything seems to be on this powerlevel.
Yeah. 1/1 might be better than 0/4. I wanted to basically remake Mom, but not have her tap (in exchange for not being able to give pro:white). I might have out thought myself there.
So you want to make the legendary even though you admit that is almost completely pointless in cube? I'm sure I don't understand.
It's an effort to not completly divorce ourselves from Normal Magic.
If we wanted to we could print
Super Savanah Lions W
Creature- Cat
Protection from Black, Protecton from Red.
3/2
And as long as we made cards with a similar power level. It wouldn't matter that this card is way to far above the curve. But I like designing these cards with the understanding of what normal magic is.
If you saw a creature in normal magic like the protection lion, you would expect it to be legendary or have some sort of similar draw back. ANd so I think we should do that here.

1. CIPT, seems like just as much of a cop out as the legendary thing.
2. Echo, possibile, but makes the cards less appealing then just a functional reprint of S. Lions.
3. CIP we lose life. Does not feel white.
4. Sac it when some condition is met. I don't know if that feels white either.
5. Jackal Pup clause.

I'm not sure white wants to get into walking. How about tweaking the protection lions:
Flameside Lion W
Protection from Red
~ deals no damage to blue creatures
2/1
=======================================
Bogside Lion W
Protection from Black
~ deals no damage to green creatures
2/1
I like the two lions without that drawback. Cleaner cards.
Should I change One Armed Bandit's ability
from "When {this} attacks, tap target creature."
to "When {this} attacks, tap target permanent."
That would turn him more into an aggressive icy manipulator, much like Looter Il Kor is an aggressive Merfolk Looter...
Here's the cards I'm feeling the most so far:
1. Flameside Lion
2. Bogside Lion
3. Tax Collector (Land Tax guy)
Then for the other 2-3 slots I think we want another aggressive attacker and another one or two utility guys:
4. Arctic Wolf (1/1 Doublestrike)
5. One armed Bandit (1/1 Icy-When-Attacks)
6. Growing Knight (0/1, +1/+1 per attack)
7. Daughter of Runes (1/1 Flash Enter/Leave play protection)
Edit: Just saw my Daughter of Rune appears to be a blatant ripoff of bwian's Evoke version. Sorry dude!
Growing Knight
Creature - Human Knight
Whenever THIS attacks, you may put a +1/+1 counter on it.
0/1
On the first attack, both hit for one. On the second attack, both hit for two, on the the third attack, hit for three.....
Functionally the same card, except yours has first strike, less toughness, an arbitrary cap on how big he gets, slightly harder to calculate P/T, and about three times the card text.
Growing Knight just seems more elegant to me. I really like elegant cards that have interesting interactions (like Arctic Fox as a 1/1 doublestriker for W. Imagine pumping him....)
You are correct that the inverse counters cancel each other out. That's not my point. My point is that it's easier to count one +1/+1 counter and know that the power is one, than it is to subtract three -1/-1 counters from four base power to get your knights starting power.
(p.s. You didn't use spoiler tags for your submission either.)
p.p.s I like your 'search for a suspend guy' card the best of the card you have made
the Kjeldoran guard hound's ETB tapped is redundant don't you think? It's going to untap next turn any way and swing for 2. (Not that I mind the 2/2) just a comment about the ETB tapped.
The sister is ok, not sure if I'd want an always on pro color instead of something else. I don't Run beloved chapalin for that reason, it never seems to do much, however on the other side it can take equipment like a pro and be unblockable.
Javelineers is awesome.
I'm not sure about the unicorn. I like it. always gonna be a 2/1 when attacking, I think its because its a unicorn, they just never seemed very tough to me. What about a Cat warrior or something.
Magnus could be a 1W if it came in as a 1/2 I think.
Artic Wolf, very new way of a savannah lion, i like it.
Bandit is awesome, i'd use it.
Daughter, I like, I would say the sac part could even be return target creature you control back, so you could protect one then return another mid battle.
Bard, cool, ability is like one I did too, great minds think alike haha.
Yes yes yes to the Q master.
the Eager footsoldiers ability is cool, not sure on the name.
I like the dawnwillow.
not really fond of the main gauche
The accreting mob I think could go ahead and start as a 1/1 since it would just attack right of the bat as a 2/1 which with no other abilities is more than fair for white. Perhaps add a remove a counter gain doublestrike or something? or trample?
Paladin twins are ok. I think they could be 1W though.
I can't see the 3/3/ for 1 with a meer life gain. However for cube I'd still run it.
Tapper is ok, seems like it wants to have more to do with those soliders but its not bad.. Would be awesome if it could be in the 3cc range to deal with 1/1 spirits
FFHD - I like it, Not sure it needs to be WW though.
grandma can just say comes into play with counters on it so it can't be removed before they get put on
Duster is perfect.
Pup is an interesting take on the lion, I like it.
Hawk might even be able to put a creature card from grave yard on bottom of library as well. however it is a awesome combo with geddons effects.
The flagbearer, not sure if you even need the non combat damage part, since combat damage is only between attacking and blocking creatures in combat right?
Love the wanna be silver knight
I like the red/black hoser
Flexible knight is awesome
Not even sure if the savior has to be 2cc.
Was not sure on the Kird Knight, I had a few ideas like this didn't know if we count those as MC.
Land tax on a stick is good to me.
Not sure on this one, would have been a f'ing bomb pre damage stack nerf
I could not see myself using that wall. I think could be a 0/5 I really do.
I stopped reading the level up card after W:put a 1/1 white human soldier the rest is just gravey haha.
Token dude should let you put those 1/1 into attacking mode right away like ninjitsu
Finallya shadow dude! woot
I'll rate more another time fingers getting tired.
As far as my version of the growing creature, I see it like a its title says a cadet learning his way through battle to reach his prime. Flavor!!

It seems like basically the same card as the Growing Knight?
But +1/+1 counters and addition are easier to manage than -1/-1 counters and subtraction?
And looking at my above post, I want to keep all 7 of them!
Growing Knight?
As far as I knew since the Shadowmoor -1/-1 counter in general became simplified by cancelation. The hatchlings are the inspiration of the card.
Also added new 2cc card
Growing Knight was submitted by Star Slayer here:
