These cards are voted on by members giving their Top 20 cards, in the order they would draft them. The final numbers posted on this thread are the average of the points assigned to each card (20 points for #1, 19 points for #2 and so on).
Final averages were rounded to their nearest tenth.
We had 12 voters total, and I'd like to thank all of them for their input:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Phantizle, Miscalcul8ed Risk, Goodking, rantipole, Rainbow Brite, bondafong, Usman and Vickek.
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
* Obviously, Mind Twist got a perfect score of straight 20's.
* Bitterblossom, Phyrexian Arena, Hymn to Tourach received 11 of 12 votes.
* Damnation had the most bi-polar voting, with points ranging from 16 to 1 (out of 12 votes).
* Dark Ritual, Hypnotic Specter, Ink-Eyes and Living Death all made the Top 20, in spite of only receiving 5 total votes.
* Yawgmoth's Will made the Top 10 despite receiving 9 of 12 votes.
* Damnation is the lowest ranked card to receive all 12 votes.
* Duress and Sinkhole made the Top 20 even though every vote was 9 points or less.
* Thoughtseize ranked out at #11, even after receiving no votes higher than 12 points.
* Yawgmoth's Bargain ranked out at #12, even after receiving no votes higher than 12, one vote at 1 and only 8 votes total.
* Booster Tutor received 1 vote at 15 points.
**9 cards had total points over 100. Of those 9, three scored over 200 (Demonic Tutor, Recurring Nightmare, Mind Twist)
We had 13 voters total, and I'd like to thank all of them for their input:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Phantizle, Miscalcul8ed Risk, Goodking, ranitpole, Rainbow Brite, Usman, hardb0dy, Donald_McDonald and DerBK
EDIT: My error -- I didn't have rantipole listed as part of the 13 voters. All votes and math remains the same. Just an oversight, I take complete responsibility.
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
* At the top: Ancestral Recall received all 20s and one 19. Mind Twist remains the only perfect 20.
* Only 4 cards received all 13 votes -- Meloku being the lowest ranked to do so, with votes ranging from 5 points up to 18 points.
* Some real houses: Fact or Fiction, Mana Drain, and Gifts Ungiven DID NOT score all 13...they received 12 of 13 votes.
* Vedalken Shackles makes the Top 20 despite only receiving three (3!!) total votes. Those votes were 16, 16 and 9.
* Mana Drain, of all cards, wins the Bi-Polar award. Highest vote: 19 points; Lowest vote: 0 points (No vote).
* Tinker ranked out at #6, receiving 11 of 13 votes.
* Gifts Given, the source of many a discussion, received 7 of 13 total votes. None lower than 13 points, with a high of 20. The first Un/Promo Class card to rank in the Top 10. It's also the first card NOT to rank #1, while recieving a vote of 20 points.
* Force of Will ranked out at #13, never receiving a vote of more than 15 points.
* Fact or Fiction made the Top 10 (stay with me here), getting two scores of 16 and one of 13, but no other vote topped 11, or went below 5 -- while receiving 12 of 13 votes. That's impressive.
* Capsize ranked out at #14 after receiving one vote of 13, and no others greater than 10.
* Keiga made the Top 20 despite receiving only 8 votes; with 5 of those votes not being more than 3 points.
* Cards close to Top 20: Brainstorm - 2.9 and Mulldrifter - 2.0
**11 cards had total points over 100. Of those 11, three scored over 200 (Mana Drain, Time Walk, Ancestral Recall).
We had 18 voters total, and again, many thanks to all of them for their input:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Phantizle, Miscalcul8edRisk, Goodking, rantipole, Rainbow Brite, Usman, hardb0dy, DerBK, Aznopium, Neonico, Darkmindtone, heretic6, metamind, Pringlesman
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
*At the top: Survival of the Fittest and Garruk Wildspeaker were the ONLY two cards to receive votes from all voters. However, Survival received ten 20-point votes, Garruk received one. Mind Twist remains the only Unanimous #1 card. Survival of the Fittest has the lowest composite score of a #1 card (Mind Twist 20.0, Ancestral Recall 19.9).
* Who's #1: 6 different cards received votes of 20: Birds of Paradise, Eternal Witness, Garruk Wildspeaker, Survival of the Fittest, Rude Awakening and Regrowth.
* On the flip: 9 different cards received votes of 19: Eternal Witness, Genesis, Garruk Wildspeaker, Survival of the Fittest, All Suns' Dawn, Rude Awakening, Sylvan Library, Regrowth and Fastbond.
* In all, 61 Green cards received at least 1 vote. By comparisson, Black had 43 cards and Blue had 50 cards total receive at least 1 vote.
* The Bi-Polar award could be shared by 4 cards: Birds of Paradise, Eternal Witness, Rude Awakening and Regrowth. They all had a vote as high as 20, and all of them didn't make at least 1 person's list. To better understand and qualify the award, Birds of Paradise had 1 vote for 20, and 5 votes of zero; Eternal Witness had 1 vote of 20 and 1 vote of zero; Rude Awakening had 3 votes of 20 and 2 votes of zero; and Regrowth had 1 vote of 20 and 2 votes of zero. The winner should be Rude Awakening having the most extreme voting.
* Eternal Witness ranked out at #3 despite not receiving all 18 votes. However, besides a single vote at 3 points, all votes were between 11 and 20.
* There are clearly two schools of thought on Rude Awakening: 6 people gave it a score between 0 and 7, the other 12 gave it a score between 15 and 20.
* Fastbond made the Top 20, despite receiving only 5 votes. All points assigned were between 8 and 19.
* Almost There: Life From the Loam just missed the Top 20, ranking out at 3.0 points. It also received 5 votes.
* What happened?: Troll Ascetic (2.3), Yavimaya Elder (1.3), Phantom Centaur (1.8) and Indrik Stomphowler (2.7) all did not make the Top 20, despite receiving 6 votes a piece. Troll Ascetic had votes of 15 and 11, Indrik Stomphowler had votes of 11 and 12. No other vote was more than 9.
* Besides votes of 17 and 15, Harmonize ranked out at #13 despite all other votes being between 2 and 12 AND only receiving 12 total votes.
* All Suns' Dawn ranked out at #15 after only receiving 8 votes (44% of the total votes). Two of the votes were 1 point and 2 points, all others were between 11 and 19.
* Plow Under (#8) has some interesting numbers: 16 total votes, 7 of which were between 1 and 6 points. The other 9 votes were between 10 and 18.
* Berserk (#20) only received 6 votes, all between 3 and 14 points.
* Rancor (#17) received 13 votes, NONE higher than 11 points.
* Krosan Tusker (#18) received 11 votes, 2 of which were 14. No other vote topped 10 points.
* Deranged Hermit (#12) received 12 votes. five votes less than or equal to 5, seven votes 9 or higher; highest vote: 17.
** 13 cards had total points over 100. Of those 13, seven scored over 200. Of those 7, one scored over 300 (Survival of the Fittest)
EDIT: Added some more facts to TURF #1, and added TURFs #2 and #3.
EDIT #2: Per Goodking, removed Natural Order as Un/Promo/Portal.
EDIT #3: Added info about total points for each group's picks. Please keep in mind the number of voters for each group as it relates to the total points.
We had 19 voters total, and once more, nothing but love to all of them for their time and input:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Phantizle, Miscalcul8edRisk, Goodking, rantipole, Rainbow Brite, Usman, hardb0dy, Donald_McDonald, DerBK, Darkmindtone, metamind, Pringlesman, ohio native, The Scientist and gremlin38.
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
* Flametongue Kavu is now the lowest rated card to Rank #1 (Survival of the Fittest was the last at 18.3). Mind Twist remains the only Perfect 20/Unanimous #1.
* Flametongue Kavu and Lightning Bolt have the slimmest margin between a #1 and #2 (1.1 pts)
* Flametongue Kavu and Siege-Gang Commander were the only two cards to receive a vote from every member.
* Siege-Gang Commander is the first card to receive a vote from every member and be outranked by a card that did NOT receive a vote from every member.
* Besides two separate votes of 9 and 10 points, all of Flametongue Kavu's votes were 16 or higher.
* Lightning Bolt and Banefire were the only two cards to receive 18 of 19 votes.
* Lightning Bolt did NOT receive a vote less than 12 points.
* With the exception of two separate votes of 4 and 5, all of Banefire's votes were 9 or higher.
* 8 (Eight!!) different cards received a vote of 20 points.
* Starstorm received 14 of 19 votes, with a high of 14 points.
* Bogardan Hellkite is the first card to receive a vote of 20 points and NOT make the Top 20. In fact, the lowest ranked card thus far, that received a vote of 20 is Birds of Paradise at #10.
* Blast From the Past (#17) made the Top 20 despite only receiving 8 of 19 votes.
* The Bi-Polar Award: Bogardan Hellkite received 1 vote of 20 and 12 "no-votes"; Lightning Bolt received 4 votes of 20 and 1 "no-vote"; Banefire received 1 vote of 20 and 1 "no-vote"; Sulfuric Vortex received 1 vote of 20 and 8 "no-votes"; Wheel of Fortune received 1 vote of 20 and 4 "no-votes". I'll go with Sulfuric Vortex here as it seems nobody was sure what to make of it. It had six votes over 15 points and five votes of 10 and lower.
* Chandra Nalaar received three separate votes of 19, 17 and 16, besides that, she didn't receive a vote more than 11.
* A New Record: 73 different cards received a vote.
* Just Missed: Magma Jet (12 votes, 3.5 average), Bogardan Hellkite (7 votes, 3.3 avg), Fireblast (7 votes, 3.1 avg) and Char (12 votes, 2.9 avg).
* Char received 12 of 19 votes, but never had a vote higher than 8 points (I'm sure this aided in it being #24).
* 11 cards had total points over 100. Of those 11, 3 scored over 200. Of those 3, two scored over 300 (Flametongue Kavu & Lightning Bolt)
EDIT: Added Burning of Xinye next to Wildfire; Corrected Demonfire typo (thanks wtwlf123).
We had 19 voters total, much more thanks for your participation:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Phantizle, Miscalcul8edRisk, Goodking, rantipole, Rainbow Brite, Usman, hardb0dy, Aznopium, Neonico, Darkmindtone, metamind, Pringlesman, ohio native, Altaurus321, fdtoni
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
* Balance, Armageddon and Land Tax were the only cards to receive a vote from every voter.
* Exalted Angel, Reveillark, Elspeth, Knight-Errant, Wrath of God and Swords to Plowshares all received 18 of 19 votes.
* Four different cards received a 20-point vote: Mother of Runes, Armageddon, Land Tax and Balance.
* Balance received fourteen votes of 20, four 19's and one 16. It's also the 3rd highest ranked card behind Mind Twist (20.0) and Ancestral Recall (19.9).
* Armageddon's votes were all between 15 and 20.
* Exception to the "no-vote", all of Wrath of God's votes were between 11 and 19.
* Besides one "no-vote", Reveillark's votes were all between 6 and 14.
* Bi-Polar Award: Mother of Runes. Received 13 of 19 votes. One vote of 20, six votes of 0, besides the 20, the highest vote was 13.
* Exalted Angel received votes of 0, 1 and 2. All other votes were between 9 and 16.
* Besides a 5, 7 and 8 -- all of Land Tax's votes were 14 and higher.
* Path to Exile (#9) is the lowest ranked card to have a double-digit composite score. That's a testament to White's power.
* Consequently, White has the most cards with double-digit composite scores (Nine).
* Ajani Goldmane received 12 of 19 votes, never receiving a vote higher than 12 points.
* Besides votes of 4 and 6, Catastrophe didn't receive a vote lower than 11.
* 56 different cards received at least 1 vote.
* Tying Blue's Record: 13 cards had total points over 100. Of those 13, 8 totalled more than 200. Of those 8, three totalled more than 300 (Armageddon, Wrath of God, Balance). Land Tax just missed at 297.
* Cataclysm makes the Top 20, despite only receiving 7 (of 19) votes.
* Rout makes the Top 20, despite only receiving 5 (of 19) votes.
* Just Missed: Yosei, the Morning Star (2.6), Karmic Guide (2.5), Parallax Wave (2.1), Austere Command (2.1), Martial Coup (2.0).
We had 16 voters total, much more thanks for your participation:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Phantizle, Miscalcul8ed Risk, Goodking, rantipole, Usman, Aznopium, Darkmindtone, metamind, Pringlesman, fdtori, Altaurus321, wamyc
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
* Sol Ring joins Mind Twist as the only U20 (Unanimous 20) cards in voting.
* Sol Ring, Umezawa's Jitte, Sword of Fire & Ice and Skullclamp were the only cards to receive votes from every member.
* Umezawa's Jitte did not receive a vote lower than 16 points.
* Sword of Fire & Ice did not receive a vote lower than 14 points.
* Black Lotus tied with Skullclamp despite receiving a no-vote. Besides the no-vote, Black Lotus had no vote lower than 13 points.
* Skullclamp had votes of 5, 8 and 11 -- which aided in it's tying with a card that didn't receive all 16 votes.
* The Mox Jewelry had 2 no-votes (!!!). Other than those, no other vote was lower than 12.
* Sensei's Divining Top ranked out at #7, with a double-digit composite, despite receiving 4 no-votes. All other votes ranked between 12 and 17.
* The Bi-Polar Award: Mana Crypt (#19, probably because of lack of usage), 5 of 16 votes, high of 19, low of 8 -- 11 no votes; Smokestack (NR) received 5 of 16 votes, high of 19, low of 1 -- 11 no votes. I'll say it's Smokestack because of the votes of 19, 9, 7, 3 and 1 versus Mana Crypt's votes of 19, 15, 14, 9 and 8.
* Masticore ranked out at #14, despite only receiving 10 of 16 votes, and no vote higher than 11 points.
* A New Record: Artifact Top 20 had 5 (Five!!) different composite score ties.
* Artifact Top 20 also had 6 cards ranked within 0.2 points of each other.
* Razormane Masticore cracked the Top 20 despite only receiving 6 of 16 votes (37.5%).
* The point disparity between Sensei's Divining Top and Sword of Light & Shadow (4.8 points) is the largest gap between two Top 10 cards in any group.
* Just Missed: Grim Monolith (2.6), Phyrexian Processor (2.6), Smokestack (2.4)
**Multi Group includes: Gold, Hybrid, Split, Gold Split and cards that typically require more than one color to play (e.g. Desolation Angel).
We had 12 voters total, thank you for your participation:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Miscalcul8ed Risk, Goodking, rantipole, Usman, DerBK, Darkmindtone, Altaurus321, Freakazoid
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
* First Time For Everything: We have a tie for 1st.
* Deed could get the nod for being the #1 with the sheer number of 20s it received, but it also received 1 no-vote. Besides the no-vote, it's lowest vote was 11.
* Vindicate also could get the nod for being #1: it did receive all 12 votes, but did NOT receive a vote of 20. It's lowest was a vote of 10.
* Vindicate and Ajani Vengeant were the only two cards to receive all 12 votes.
* Multi's New Guard - Ajani Vengeant (#4, Shards of Alara), Bloodbraid Elf (#6, Alara Reborn), Maelstrom Pulse (#9, Alara Reborn) and Broodmate Dragon (#17, Shards of Alara) - Alara Block cards constitute 20% of the Top 20.
* Multi's Old Guard - Pernicious Deed (#1), Vindicate (#1), Desolation Angel (#10), Spiritmonger (#13) and Prophetic Bolt (#15) - Apocalypse (a single SET!) cards constitute 25% of the Top 20.
* Broodmate Dragon ranked out at #17 after receiving only 5 votes. Two of which were a 1 and a 4.
* Rare-B-Gone received one vote -- of 20 points.
* Pernicious Deed, Mirari's Wake, Lightning Helix and Oona, Queen of the Fae also all received votes of 20.
* Mirari's Wake did not receive a vote less than 12 points.
* Oona, Queen of the Fae ranked out at #6, despite receiving 3 no-votes.
* Spiritmonger ranked out at #13, despite receiving: 3 no-votes, 3 votes of 2 points and a vote of 5 points.
* Just Missed: Terminate (2.8), Loxodon Heirarch, Mortify and Debtors' Knell (all 2.3)
* Bi-Polar Award: Lightning Helix. Votes of 20, 15 and two 14's. Also received one vote of 1 point and 5 no-votes. Talk about Love // Hate (that should be a split card -- it should be R/W and have Lightning Helix's abilities -- L(ove)ightning H(ate)elix - R - Deal 3 damage to target creature or player OR W - Gain 3 Life. You may pay RW and play both abilities).
* In-All: 62 different cards received votes.

Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):

* Tolarian Academy ranked out at #19 despite receiving only 5 votes.
* Kjeldoran Outpost barely cracked the Top 20 despite receiving on 4 (!) votes.
* Just Missed: Barbarian Ring (1.8), Kor Haven (1.8), Shards Tri Lands (1.7) and Dust Bowl (1.7).
We had 12 voters total, thank you for your participation:
Calibretto, wtwlf123, lim_qien, Phantizle, Miscalcul8edRish, rantipole, RainbowBrite, Usman, Aznopium, Darkmindtone and metamind
Color Voting Tendencies, Useless Ramblings and Facts (TURF):
* Sol Ring received votes from all voters, all scores were 19 and 20.
* Library of Alexandria received all votes as well, all 19 and 20...and one 18.
* Mind Twist, Ancestral Recall, Umezawa's Jitte and Sword of Fire & Ice were the others to receive all votes (That's really a short list if you think about it).
* Of the 57 cards that qualified for the Overall Top 20 Voting, 14 did not receive a vote. Those cards are: Eternal Witness, Regrowth, Seige-Gang Commander, Wheel of Fortune, Swords to Plowshares, Exalted Angel, Path to Exile, Ajani Vengeant, Psychatog, Bloodbraid Elf, Oona, Queen of the Fae, Figure of Destiny Onslaught Fetch Lands and Ravnica Shock Lands.
* Pernicious Deed and City of Brass cracked the Top 20 despite only receiving 5 votes each -- but more impressive was Rude Awakening making the Top 20 with only 3 (three!!) total votes.
* Flametongue Kavu received 5 votes, but they were: 9, 2, 2, 1 and 1.
* Bi-Polar Award: Sensei's Divining Top: High of 18, 4 no-votes.
* Artifacts dominate the Top 20 with 7 entries, or more than 1/3 of the list.

* Red is the only color/group not represented in the Top 20. Flametongue Kavu was it's closest shot at a composite of 1.3.
* Pernicious Deed is the only entry from the Multi-color group.
* Just Missed: Meloku, the Clouded Mirror (1.7), Flametongue Kavu & Strip Mine (1.3), Tinker, Land Tax, Mirari's Wake (1.1).

That's very interesting, good work man. I'll think long and hard on my Blue selection, and come back with that tomorrow. How will you do multicolour? Top 20 overall? That one could be very tricky indeed.

No doubt. Multi-color is gunna be a biznatch.
I'm considering splitting between Multi-Golds and Multi-Hybrids.

I think all the special info about the votes for each color should go right under the top 20 list itself in the OP, and then put the top 20 blue underneath that info, etc. It's really helpful.

I thought this is the best way to at least acknowledge it, I did not however list it in the Top 20, even under an asterisk. Any person worthy of holding a driver's license in any state can figure out where it's one vote at 15 points would put it on the Top 20.

One vote at 15 points would leave it OFF the top 20; asterick or no asterick, right?
by my calculations one vote at 15 points, gives it 15 total points. divided by the total number of voters (12) puts the average at around 1.25. that may put it 20-25, but definitely not in the top 20. maybe i'm doing something wrong in my math, but i thought that was how you were getting the numbers.
The agreement we had reached for the Un/Promo cards before we ultimately decided NOT to include them at all in the asterisk fashion was
(Total Number of Points) / (Number of Votes Received)
INSTEAD OF
(Total Number of Points) / (Total Number of Voters)
So, while a card like Yawg's Will received 119 points, but only 9 total votes, it was still divided by 12, which was the total number of voters.
Booster Tutor, being in the Un/Promo Class, would've had it's 15 points divided by 1, since that was the total number of voters who listed it, giving it a composite of 15 points -- good enough for 5th overall.

Yes; just wanted to make sure.
Are there a minimum number of votes for a particular card for it to be calculated? I.E. Have to validated by X cube players to be calculated.

Booster Tutor, being in the Un/Promo Class, would've had it's 15 points divided by 1, since that was the total number of voters who listed it, giving it a composite of 15 points -- good enough for 5th overall.
This calculating method was the one I was hoping to avoid.
Booster Tutor, being in the Un/Promo Class, would've had it's 15 points divided by 1, since that was the total number of voters who listed it, giving it a composite of 15 points -- good enough for 5th overall.
eh... that makes sense, but i don't think that un/promo cards should be treated differently just because some people didn't know we could vote for them or didn't think about them at the time. i think if you want to give it honorable mention because of the "controversy/discussion" the un/promo cards caused in the other thread, then sure, but i don't think it should be averaged out any different. the fact that it got voted for at all makes it worth mentioning, imo. and that goes for any card.
These cards are voted on by members giving their Top 20 cards, in the order they would draft them. The final numbers posted on this thread are the average of the points assigned to each card (20 points for #1, 19 points for #2 and so on).
Final averages were rounded to their nearest tenth.

* Cards close to Top 20: Brainstorm - 2.9 and Mulldrifter - 2.0
**11 cards had total points over 100. Of those 11, three scored over 200 (Mana Drain, Time Walk, Ancestral Recall).

10 Birds of Paradise - 6.8
11 Tooth and Nail - 6.6
12 Deranged Hermit - 5.9
13 Harmonize - 5.6
14 Chameleon Colossus - 5.4
15 Sakura-Tribe Elder - 5.3
15 All Suns' Dawn - 5.3
17 Rancor - 4.1
18 Krosan Tusker - 4.0
19 Fastbond - 3.5
20 Berserk - 3.1

* Armageddon's votes were all between 15 and 20.
* Exception to the "no-vote", all of Wrath of God's votes were between 11 and 19.
* Besides one "no-vote", Reveillark's votes were all between 6 and 14.
* Bi-Polar Award: Mother of Runes. Received 13 of 19 votes. One vote of 20, six votes of 0, besides the 20, the highest vote was 13.
* Exalted Angel received votes of 0, 1 and 2. All other votes were between 9 and 16.
* Besides a 5, 7 and 8 -- all of Land Tax's votes were 14 and higher.

* Bi-Polar Award: Lightning Helix. Votes of 20, 15 and two 14's. Also received one vote of 1 point and 5 no-votes. * Sol Ring received votes from all voters, all scores were 19 and 20.
* Library of Alexandria received all votes as well, all 19 and 20...and one 18.

No doubt. Multi-color is gunna be a biznatch.
I'm considering splitting between Multi-Golds and Multi-Hybrids.

That's why I was considering it, and honestly, that was the first thing I thought -- was how watered down it'd be.
Top 25 sounds good. I think that'd cover it. I'm having a brutal time with Blue, I can't imagine how tough 20 for Multis would be.

* Spoiler
* TURF addition: Note for Booster Tutor
I thought this is the best way to at least acknowledge it, I did not however list it in the Top 20, even under an asterisk. Any person worthy of holding a driver's license in any state can figure out where it's one vote at 15 points would put it on the Top 20.

One vote at 15 points would leave it OFF the top 20; asterick or no asterick, right?

This calculating method was the one I was hoping to avoid.
eh... that makes sense, but i don't think that un/promo cards should be treated differently just because some people didn't know we could vote for them or didn't think about them at the time. i think if you want to give it honorable mention because of the "controversy/discussion" the un/promo cards caused in the other thread, then sure, but i don't think it should be averaged out any different. the fact that it got voted for at all makes it worth mentioning, imo. and that goes for any card.
