As a humble combo player I am jumping in at my first attempt at building a cube....to be worse a theme cube...wait make it worse a planer cube!
The idea is to run a cube of IND, DA, SOI, EM (once it is released unless there is a bunch of eldrazi....)
So the questions I have for you are:
1. What jank commons do i remove
2. What jank UC do i remove
3. Is my idea of 4/3/1/1 good? or do i move down to 3/2/1/1
4. am i never going to succeed!
So far I have taken out the homunculus... because i do not like them...and took out all of Avacyn restored because no soulbound here...all horror
There's a quote from a message I've made in a previous thread on Innistrad cube.
I've maid a Innistrad block cube myself, including INN and DKA, that try to recreate the draft-sealed environment that we all used to love and it has been pretty awesome so far. The pack made from my cube looks like real set booster pack (10 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare/mythic). You can also open the same common/uncommon multiple times from pack to pack. If you like to, I could help you create that type of cube by showing you the skeleton of mine. It takes a lot of time to handle and craft, but if you like Innistrad a lot, I think you'd definitly love it.
The person I was answering to never respond and showed interest in my proposal, but if you want, my offer also stand for you. I don't have a list here on MTG Salvation, but I have it all on Excel and I could show you my list if you to. Also, I could explain how to make booster packs properly with the cube in order to recreate the Innistrad's limited environment.
4/3/1/1 seems like a TON of cards if you include 4 different sets. It will be pretty hard to get some focussed archtype-drafting going with that many cards. The archtypes are still very much there in a singleton cube, and you can always up the number on engine cards like burning vengeance to your liking. Also, for the many reasons AVR is hated it's the 1st time I hear Soulbond being the reason, but if they get your shorts up your neck then just don't add them. There are still some great on-theme cards in AVR.
4/3/1/1 is definitely high if you plan to run your cube like you would run a traditionnal cube. My Innistrad's cube is 5/3/2/1 though, but it is made to respect at maximum the limited environment of the set. We created random packs with it, by selecting cards by rarety. So we never do shuffle the whole cube together and the resulting packs are always compose of 10 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare or mythic. All random. Real nice to play so far.
EDIT : In fact, depending on their respective powerlevel, each common numbers varie from 3 to 5. Same for the uncommons, but from 1 to 3. This way, all the pools made from the cube are rarely bad. I can upload my list on a Google Excel Doc if you want to.
