The Legacy Cube is online right now and will be until 7th october. It has be really fun to play so far. I tested about 10 times since it has been release and I can totally say that I appreciate it a lot. FWIW, the cube don't include power stuff like Moxes, power 9 and stuff. But almost all the other good stuff are in (Reanimator, Sneak, NO, Armageddon, Upheaval, etc.). They also kicked out the vampire theme that they have in the previous edition (Thanks god!) and revamp the black section. Even so the metagame feels a lot more midrange than traditionnal power list that are present in this community, including tons of 1 and 2 mana green ramp spells and several fatties, it seems quite enough balance. As matter of fact, Aggro is still present, as control and combo.
While I played the format, I've learn some new tricks and some combos, a thing that MTGO is really good at, and I'll would like to share it with the MTG Salavation community. Among stuff that I discover, there's one thing that I found really sweet : The Dark Depths combo. With cards like Vampire Hexmage, Thespian's Stage, Genesis Wave, you could pull off that 20/20 indestructible flying creature onto the battlefield pretty often. Anyone else have already tested that combo in the cube? Seems pretty cool to me.
To illustrate the combo, you could have a look at those broadcasts by Owen Turtenwald :
Really fun video in which Owen is using a Temur combo deck featuring the classical Kiki-Jiki combo, Dark Depths/Thespian's Stage combo along with Genesis Wave to garanteed some fun at the end of the curve. Indeed, with enough mana, Genesis Wave can put all the combo pieces you need onto the battlefield in order to instant win the game.
Don't hesitate look at the videos! Strongly recommend! Especially Game 1! Represent a lot of fun for those who love cubing!
I am a big fan of running a large utility land section. I play Legacy Lands so naturally The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale is in my cube but its more of a pet card than anything. I run a SmokestackBraids, Cabal Minion kind of lockdown archetype, its fine but more annoying than anything. I could see Dark Depths being pretty fun to play but I'd see it as something unique to your own cube rather than a staple.
The only thing I dislike about Dark Depths is that it doesn't support a specific archetype. Bazaar of Baghdad and even Mishra's Workshop create their own kind of decks but DD is just kinda there.
I've been getting a kick out of watching the Channel Fireball pros drafting the Legacy Cube, too. Owen Turtenwald's draft drove me up the wall, though. He didn't seem to want to consider picking anything unless it was part of some "broken" infinite combo. I enjoyed watching him and his greedy mana base getting crushed in his third matchup. I can't imagine running cards like Dark Depths, Thespian's Stage, or Time Vault that do basically nothing without another specific combo piece, but it really seems like catnip for a certain kind of drafter.
Travis Woo was much more fun to watch when he was putting together his reanimator deck in this series. He sounds like he's really enjoying himself, too. On a related note, I saw Llanowar Mentor doing some pretty good work in a few of those matchups. I wonder if I should consider adding that to my own cube as ramp/reanimator support?

I also had the same reflection when watching it. Owen looked like he didn't want to draft anything fair in that particular broadcast. At first, I was a lot sceptical about his drafting method, but he ended up whit a nice piece of deck that pretty much convince me.
Except he didn't take down that draft, he lost his last match. I think the main reason he was able to even 2-1 with the durdly mess he drafted was that aggro is really poorly supported in Legacy Cube. Way too many matches started with no one doing anything before turn 3, if you draft a deck like that in my cube, a lot of decks can run you right over.

I had the Thespian's SageDark Depths combo in my cube for years and it only worked once. And when it did, the player with the combo died next turn. It's just way too slow and inconsistent.

Which coupled with Owen's personality didn't make for the most compelling videos. I could imagine him doing a protest draft like this
