It's been more than a year since we did a team cube draft here on the MTGS forums. I had a blast, learned a lot about deckbuilding from my teammates, and would love to see another one of these happen.
Did other people enjoy it last time? Would anyone have the time or know-how to run one again?
I've participated in this two different ways in the Limited section of the forum.
Method 1: Create 8 teams with each team having a private subforum where they can discuss each pick. The organizer takes each team's pick and posts the remaining cards to the next seat. Once all the cards have been picked, teams discuss how to build their decks and possibly play each other online, schedules and software permitting.
Method 2: Create X identical 8-person pods. Each pod will open the same packs in the same order. No communication between drafters of any kind is allowed so that all present and future picks are honest. This takes a lot of work on the part of the organizer, who is tracking every pick for X separate draft pods so he or she can feed the next pack to each drafter. At the end all of the information becomes public and people can debate picks. (We also played the matches out on MTGO/Apprentice, which was fun.)
Both create the opportunity to compare notes in different ways and both were very interesting. I would jump at the chance to do either.
I got word from ER that it takes about 30-45 minutes a night to run one of these things, but that you don't need to be a mod to run it. Sene created a handy spreadsheet to run these things that makes it easy to keep track of.
I'm really hesitant to take on that much of a time commitment, though. Does anyone here have the time and interest to take this on?
FYI, a BFZ draft is kicking off soon in the Limited boards. If any of you guys are jonesing and don't care if it's a cube draft or not, you should sign up. In the meanwhile, hopefully an awesome dedicated spreadsheet-wizard will come along soon and get another cube draft going.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.

Would we need a mod to do this, or just a dedicated user?
