Earlier today, myself and two friends wanted to play a 3-man FFA with my cube so we could just get right to playing. Sometimes, I like to play Wizard's Tower with chunks of the cube for these situations, but they wanted to do some deckbuilding to practice. We went with 75 card sealed pools, some of which contain Conspiracy cards which I run in my list. Mine happened to include Worldknit (along with Immediate Action and Brago's Favor). Just to clarify, the list is a fairly average 400ish cube that doesn't currently run Power 9 and also aimed at 1v1 play, not multiplayer.
As a joke, I originally looked at the card and said "Hah wouldn't that be funny?" to which my friend replied, "Yeah, wouldn't it?"
I ended up having something like 13 non-basic lands in the pool, and including the conspiracy cards, the deck size was 92 cards (I think), so it was quite the pile. After skimming my pool, I named Jace, the Mindsculptor with Brago's Favor (cause why not) and Grave Titan for [/card]Immediate Action[/card] for the suprise factor.
We ended up playing a fun, interactive game that I enjoyed moreso than had I built a "regular" sealed deck of 40 cards. I liked that my pool had an "EDH" feel to it and it was very swingy. My only disappointment was with how low the life totals were; I think next time we will try 30 life each.
Anyway, I guess I just wanted to share this story and recommend to anyone that ends up playing small multiplayer games with their cube that you could have everyone start the game with a Worldknit effect. In other words, just pick a predetermined number of cards from the cube as a pool (say, 50 cube cards for each person), add basic lands, and play.
Maybe this is too close to Wizard's Tower but I thought it was an idea worth sharing.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
Seems like you'd want to yank nonbasics from the pool prior to doing this, since they're just kind of a bummer to draw. That way you can just jam the right percentage of random basics and play blind. I guess maybe you want to look at pools first to see if you want to be maximizing a basic land for cards like Rofellos, Koth, or Crypt Ghast, but maybe it's faster and mro fun to just roll with 8 of each basic and get started.
Yeah I like the random aspect of it. You can remove the nonbasics but a lot of them are better with a Worldknit since the effect adds "add a mana of any colour". Suddenly, your Mutavault is also a Birds of Paradise? Every fetch land taps for mana. I dunno, I get why you'd want to take them out so that each pool is "even" but I don't think it's such a big deal to just add a certain number of basics and go with it.
I think the best way is to just split basics evenly and then you accept the fact that Koth and Rofellos and Vedalken Shackles and etc. etc. get worse in the format. Just a different way of casually playing the cube.

May I recommend turning your cube into and EDH cube if that's what you're going for.
In all seriousness, that's very interesting idea. I supposed it's not really applicable to my cube, but I like the idea. (One of the most disappointing things about making my cube an EDH cube was that I couldn't put Worldknit in, but I like the pace of play so much more with EDH that I wouldn't have made it any other way.)

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
I think if I ever decided to go "Hey, you know what? I'm going to scavenge all of my EDH decks and turn them into a cube", I might do that. I guess maybe my view of the experience as favourable is somewhat biased because I already enjoy playing EDH so much, but it just feels like a good way to play it with a cube that's normally tuned for 1v1. I agree with you though that a dedicated EDH cube would be awesome, but right now I don't have the time to manage a second cube considering the time I've invested in the one I have now. I also don't think I could justify paying for more sleeves (times two because I like to double-sleeve) either because I already don't think I play my current cube enough as it is.
Anyway, bit of an aside there but to summarise, I think an EDH cube would be an awesome idea if I ever do decide to build a second one, but for now I just was trying to suggest a fun way to play if you ever find yourself with an odd number of people. My friends don't like to just sit and watch 2 other matches if we have 5, for example.
