Do you count colorless cards with colored activations as artifacts or as the color for the activation? Likewise, do you count a red spell with a blue flashback as red, blue, or an izzet card? I have a balanced-color cube that I want to keep balanced. This includes multicolor cards. I have two spellbombs right now, but I want to look at including more cards like that, but not entire cycles. So, the question is, colorless count, or color count?

Those cards tend to count as having all the colors needed to play them, but it's a bit of case-by-case analysis. Most people consider Crystal Shard and Vedalken Shackles as Blue cards, but a few still put Spellskite as colorless. Notice all three can technically be activated without blue, but it would be too costly (Shard) or useless (Shackles), while for Spellskite it's more viable. Other example is having Shrine of Burning Rage as a Red card.
For flashback, yes, I would - most everyone who plays Lingering Souls counts it as a 'Orzhov' card. There's also having Kird Ape as a 'Gruul' card.
I would certainly list a Spellbomb as being of the color it requires for its activation.
