I played Helm of Possession in my classic cube, and I can vouch for its powerlevel. If your opponent can't answer it, it can be beyond frustrating to face down. Like a Shackles that's not blue-specific and isn't bound by a power cap. Especially in decks with token creatures and recursive threats. It's better than you think if you think it's anything but good.
Skred I'm working on getting enough foil Coldsnap snow lands to put this one in myself.
This seems much weaker to me than Flame Slash, since it's only going to do 4+ damage once you hit 4+ lands, and instant speed is nice, but it seems like every non-basic I play is at conflict with this. I mean, if I play 1 nonbasic + 2 basics, this thing is a Shock for just dudes. I really want more value for my stuff before turn 3.
Signets. Seriously, Signets. All of them. A cube that runs more than 500 cards and supports ramp and/or Wildfire decks can easily run all ten. Yes, some will fit into more decks than others, but even the worst ones will see more maindecks than sideboards. I think Signets are perfect cards for acceleration and fixing (in this order, since you will sometimes run a Signet just for one of its colors) and yet so many cubers frown upon them.
There's likely others, but I feel like Dungeon Geists does get underrated (I don't know if I'd say criminally so) as it's a nice answer to annoying permanents and has a decent body, kind of like a Faceless Butcher that doesn't cause ETB shenanigans although it's worse vs creatures with non-combat/non-tap abilities like Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite and Griselbrand (but they aren't super-common in cube.) I've found it to be a nice way to deal with annoying opposing creatures and while it's no Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Glen Elendra Archmage or Opposition, few things are and I like Dungeon Geists.
Sphinx's Revelation - In UW control, this is the gold card you want. Cards like D Sphere, Geist and Supreme Verdict are better gold cards for the cube as a whole because they can go in more than just UW control. Sphinx's Rev is the epitome of what UW control is trying to do. Your deck has made it to turn seven or eight, you've used a few counters and played a couple of mana rocks, maybe a wrath effect. You're pushing ten life or so, give or take a few. EOT tap seven or eight to Sphinx's Rev for four or five and suddenly the game is out of reach. Your life total is back up to a more comfortable range and you've refilled your hand with gas. I was super skeptical of this card at first and it took me a while to even come around to including it in a six card UW section. It has proven itself time and time again, though, and I don't regret that decision at all.
I've been giving your comment some thought. I do feel like we have enough Wrath effects and spot removal in our cube already so I'm willing to go without Supreme Verdict/Detention Sphere to fit this in. It was on my radar late last year and again during the summer (sparked by a MTGin3D cast I think) but thought it criminal at the time to cut Verdict/Sphere. Thanks for sharing - you sold me on it!

Awesome, man! Given the amount of interchangeable effects of that nature in white, it's probably ok to cut either of those gold cards to make room for Sphinx's Rev. I'd rather have the more unique effect than the redundancy in that instance. I hope it works out as well for you guys as it has for us.
For me, Nether Void. It's just sheer awesomeness, and in the same color as Sinkhole. Add red for some serious mana disruption.
There's also Moat. But I think Moat is boring at the same time. I actually might cut it soon.
Are you sure that you meant to post these cards as criminally excluded and not criminally expensive? I jest, but neither of these cards is excluded when the cube manager has them.
That's not true, I had my Neither Void in my on-deck binder for a long time after removing it from my cube before I actually sold it. I owned it and didn't need it for my cube.

Well you get one point for finding the exception to my observation dont you? That is until you find that the one point I've awarded you doesnt really fit anymore and you sale it and move on...........
For me, it's Rogue's Passage. Probably a little slow for the 1vs1 cubes, but this thing just sits out and gets forgotten about.
By the time you're tapping 4 and activating its ability to let your gorilla through for lethal, it's too late (especially in my cube, where I think I might have one or two cards at best that are capable of instant land removal).
So hard to remove, goes in any deck, hands you a win-con in even the most ridiculous circumstances...
So the 'on deck' discussion on the other thread got me looking through my on deck box (I swear this calibretto guy man... :)) and I ended up seeding a few cards during our drafts this weekend. One card stood out to still be an absolute house: Phantom Centaur. He's such a pain to get rid of (it sure felt like triple persist), holds equipment like a champ and 5 power on a 4-drop is still very good. I don't remember if he was still in my cube when I brought in Wildfire but that came up this weekend. I'm pretty sure if this guy came out today, he'd be a snap include for me.
Anywho, I'm convinced Phantom Centaur is still awesome and I'll be finding room for this guy during my next update.
I have run Phantom Centaur for years and he is in danger of ever being cut. He is great with the green curse and equipment and has a ton of other little synergies that you don't realize until you are in the middle of winning a game with him.
Phantom Centaur is great. It can always come back in for my 360. It's absolute monster with any kind of equipment. I'm just not playing him right now because it's not what I want to shift my current green section towards.
Phantom Centaur is in my on deck binder currently, but I don't know what I'd cut at my current size to bring him back. Did you make a cut for him this time or just seed him into the draft to test him again?

Considering how well received Sphinx's Revelation has been and all... Horrible influence!
I just seeded Phantom Centaur without cutting on the weekend. I'm going to be testing it over Curse of Predation moving forward, and yes it does pain me since Centaur + Curse = P90X + Ab RipperX (full body intensity). Curse is a great aggro card no doubt, but I just couldn't find anything else I was willing to move. There were also times where I wouldn't mind just having another creature instead, so there's also that.
On a somewhat related note, I'm now questioning if I really need that third Llanowar Elf (criminally included), or if the slot is better filled by another aggressive creature (perhaps even by a 2-drop).
Because of your post, last night I replaced Polukranos with Phantom Centaur. I realized how much I miss the Centaur and just how little Pokinoes has done since his inclusion.

Why do you think it's criminally excluded?

Totally agree. With the rise of cheap powerful creatures it only seems to get better.
And, though more popular, Snuff Out is underrated/excluded. It's free Doom Blade!
