Hi everyone. Ever since I heard of the idea of cube, I thought it would be an awesome idea to build a cube just with cards I have accumuated since I started playing last year and slowly upgrade it over time. I realized that if I am just shoving cards into it as I go, it will never really be that good till I sink some money into it.
I had an idea that I could make the most of what I have and try to make a more cohesive cube instead with the cards that I have the most of, Theros block. Basically my idea would be that before drafting the cube, you would first draft the theros gods until everyone had an equal amount of them. (2 people get 6 each, 3 get 4 each, 4 get 3 each, 5 get 3 each, 6 get 2 each, 7 and 8 get one each)
Then you would draft the cube and build a deck that would work with one or more of the gods that you drafted. I would like there to be a mix of cards that are specifically added to support that god's archetype and a mix of more general cards in each colour. I was also playing around with the idea that you could pick one god that you drafted to be a "commander" like in EDH to go along with your drafted deck.
I'm just looking for some feedback on what archetypes would work well for each god and if there are any cards that would be good to have for a certain god (Doesn't necessarily need to be in Theros block).
I'm also wondering whether this sounds like someone anyone would actually want to play. My original idea is to play it with some of my friends who I am introducing to magic as a way to help them learn the game and to get them into drafting, but would it seem like a boring idea to someone who would normally play a powered cube or something?
