I'm looking to buy 1,000 sleeves. I don't care what they look like. They don't even need to be opaque-backed. All I care about is price. What are the cheapest sleeves on the internet I can buy when looking to purchase 1,000 (in case bulk deals exist) ?
I've looked around a good bit, but I'm just asking here in case there's a site or three I've missed. Figure you guys would be the perfect people to ask for about buying mass amounts of sleeves for a cube.
If anyone knows of a site that can beat these prices (with sleeves of any kind), I would love to know about it.
DOUBLE EDIT:
Actually, I just had a flash of insight. Because my cube is entirely proxied, I'm just going to sleeve them in PRO-FIT sleeves. They're way cheaper that way.
Protomac is about the best you can do on sleeves nowadays. If you went super cheap-o, I'm pretty sure you can find ultra-pro sleeves at around $2.50 a pack for 50 counts. I know channelfireball sells like 5 packs of 50 count ultra-pro mattes for $12 or something. That's like $50 for 1000 sleeves. At that point, I'd pay the extra for dragon shield/KMC though, they'll last much longer.
Protomac is as good as it gets. Recently ordered 800 kmc hayper matte purples and 1000 perfect fits for about 95. The store I go to play modern at sells the kmc hyper mattes for about 11-12 (though constructed events are free to enter and give store credit so you could technically get your sleeves for free).
You can usually buy them from your FLGS for about $0.75 apiece. My roommate just bought BattleCon and we put all of the characters in those hinged boxes and they're quite nice.
My Cube is 465 large, which can accommodate 10 players. I took 10 standard Ultra-pro deck boxes and slotted them with 45 cards each to represent 3 packs. I then distribute each player a deckbox when starting a draft. The box also serves as a spot for sideboards, which I previously didn't allow in public places for fear of cards falling on the floor or being swiped. The 5 deck boxes fit perfectly in each row, with a little extra space for dice and spare sleeves. The middle row I filled with lands, tokens and an extra pack for Lore Seeker shenanigans.
Hey the white one looks super slick! I have the gunmetal grey, myself. I also like the deck boxes idea and might steal that. I'm paranoid about my cards falling over and crushing one another or getting bent so that's a good way around it.
Thought I'd share my cube box which is still something of a work in progress. Hobby Lobby artists box with inserts by Broken Token (which are made for the Hobby Lobby box)I made minor adjustments to the inserts to accommodate a pair of plastic bins for dice and counters. After I finish the painting, I'm thinking of doing leather upper liner with some kind of debossing or perhaps slots for rules cards or some-such. Also planning on replacing all the hardware (which is serviceable if not robust) with something a bit more heavy duty. The cube is 676 plus a pile of tokens (singleton art), 90 each basic land (singleton art) a 50 card Commander section, a Conspiracy section and a section of Schemes (reduced down to "normal" sized proxies). It's fairly heavy and I worry the latches might just spring open going from point A to B, I also don't trust the shoulder strap D rings that came with the box. However all things considered it is a pretty budget friendly option for a large cube and build quality for the money is excellent. The box cost $15 (with a coupon) and the laser-cut inserts were $30+shipping.
Very nice case, like the schemes and other extras. I see the holiday basic land sorters Are they the same size as a Magic card? Do you like them? I'm interested in getting a set for my cube box.
Thanks! Yeah our playgroup mostly drafts duel commander 66 card decks with a separate commander pool draft, thinking of adding MTGO vanguard proxies and hero cards as well in the near future, if I can still find the hero cards somewhere. As for the land sorters they are roughly 3/16" taller and 1/16" wider than a sleeved card which is fine as the box is roomy and the inserts have possibly too much wiggle room.
Happy with my dividers for now only I'm looking for a alternative, preferably prefab, to keep everything consistently labled in the box. My original plan was to print and diecut some thin sintra dividers but I'm not sure my vandercook proof press would thank me for trying to run relatively hard plastic sheet. Does anyone know of some decent precut tab dividers for card collections? or are the ones from the Holiday Box all she wrote?
Does anyone have any experience with triple-sleeving their cards with KMC Character Guards?
Not a cube specifically, but I have triple sleeved certain things before. I actually think it would be fairly nice, since you're only drafting smaller decks, you don't have to worry about your 60 card deck standing like an EDH deck.
Just picked up this case from ebay uk for my cube, Holds up to 1000 cards so should be good even if I decide to go upto 450.
Aikola86, could you PM me a link to where you bought this case? I have been trying to track it down as I have seen it in several places but I've had no luck.
I can guarantee the quality of KMC Hypermats. With careful handling/shuffling, they can last forever. I mean it. Get 1000 of them now, no regrets.
It is nice to hear that. I've had a good experience with them for my modern deck, and I just re-sleeved my entire cube in hypermats about two days ago.
We've ran KMC matte black for about two and a half years now and we've busted maybe 10 sleeves total. It's probably not even that many, honestly. We're thinking of resleeving soon, but that's not because the current sleeves are bad. We're getting closer and closer to zero proxies, so double sleeving is looking better and better. When we make that jump, we'll likely buy all new sleeves just for consistency. The KMC mattes will go right over to the Peasant cube, though.

EDIT:
So far, I've found these:
1,000 Dragon Shield sleeves for $68.00 (8.50 shipping).
1,200 Ultra-Pro Matte sleeves for ~$62.00 (free shipping).
If anyone knows of a site that can beat these prices (with sleeves of any kind), I would love to know about it.

I guess for $29 that's a good deal. However, I'm not a fan of Ultrapros in general. KMC or Dragonshield are my favourites.
