I've been watching Helix as well and, like you BK, I find it to be a big pile of cheese that I can't stop watching. It's completely predictable. I hate most of the characters. So much doesn't make any sense at all. But yet, I keep tuning in each week. There must be some sort of subliminal message in this show that keeps me coming back.
@wtwlf: I used to play 40K and Adeptus Titanicus. Is that dude 25mm or Epic scale? Nice paint job anyway. I particularly like the weathering: it looks battleworn without being overdone. Did you use an airbrush?
@madworld: It really annoys me when something original and powerful feels clichéd when you return to it because there have been so many subsequent rip-offs. Donny Darko is a terrific film.

It's 28mm regular 40k scale ...the thing is huge.
It was painted by another artist. I believe it was combination airbrush and standard brush painting.
Games Workshop used to claim their miniatures were 25mm. I'm glad they've come clean about the actual scale. It used to be said they made their figures slightly larger to stop you using them with figures from other manufacturers.
I thought it looked airbrushed: you need it on models that size to get a really smooth effect, in my opinion.

This is a question for German forum members (or, I suppose, anyone else with a good knowledge of life there). I'm going to be in Germany, specifically Heidelberg, for Easter weekend. How much can I expect to be open? The castle looks as if it will be open, according to the website, but previously when I've been in Germany I've found that public holidays are taken pretty seriously, so I'm a little surprised.

The shops will certainly be closed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday and most likely on Good Friday*, too. Germany takes Christian holidays pretty seriously when it comes to opening hours (at least where commerce is involved). A museum or a tourist attraction might be open though. Another quirk of Good Friday is that public events that involve dancing and partying are not allowed. The Saturday before Easter Sunday is a regular Saturday, as far as opening hours are concerned.
* Wait, the day where Jesus was crucified is called "Good Friday"? Good Friday? Who came up with that? I am not a devout Christian, but this choice of words strikes me as odd.
Thanks, I'll make sure to get anything necessary on the Saturday. And I won't go out looking to party Friday night.
I was caught out last year on Allerheiligen (All Saints' Day), November 1st. Amongst other things I'd gone to buy was some German Commander 2013, but the gaming shop was shut. That day isn't even a holiday in England.
Good Friday always struck me as odd, but I remember being told as a kid that you don't get much more good than sacrificing yourself for the whole of humanity, which is hard to argue with whether you are religious or not.
I watched a couple of episodes of IT Crowd a couple of nights ago - it is pretty funny. I remember Richard Ayoade from university; though I doubt he remembers me.

Well. If the story is true, it was good for everyone BUT Jesus right? All humans were absolved of their sins. A pretty great day if I should say so myself.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
Yeah Elder Scrolls Online. Its really fun, and less buggy than I expected an Elder Scrolls game to be haha.
The best part is building nonsense like Sorcerer Tanks and Nightblade Healers, and having them work perfectly well because of how the abilities are done.

I have a confession to make: For like 15 years, I am stuck with a weird/non-official color wheel in my head. Whenever I think about the five colors of Magic, their order and their relation to each other, I do not see the image from the cardback:
....W.... G....U
.R..B.
but rather this image:
....B.... R....U
.G..W.
It has the same order, only mirrored and with black at the top. Somewhere during Urza block, when I really and deeply thought about the color wheel for the first time, I must have come up with my version. I think that black is at the top because I was a huge fan of Phyrexia. Or maybe the reason was that green and white were the weakest colors during the early years of the game and therefore went to the bottom? Whatever made me come up with this image, it has burned itself into my mind and despite having seen the official version thousands of times since then, I still think about my version first.
Reading an article (which doesn't show any image of the official color wheel) about the five tribes of Innistrad, I think: "Poor humans [WG], they are at the bottom of the foot chain, while vampires [RB] and zombies [BU] are at the top." Hearing about the metagame during Lorwyn Standard, I think: "Of course Faeries [BU] are the #1 deck, they are at 1 o'clock!" There have been a lot of similar situations, all due to me having that atypical color wheel image stuck in my mind.
How do you perceive the color wheel when you think about it? Do you always instantly think of the official version?
When I see the term "color wheel", I know that I know what the term means, but I don't see an image of the color wheel or anything like that. I have to reconstruct it every single time from the fact that I know it starts with White into Blue and that it is always allied colors next to each other. This is slower than an instantaneous image, but on the plus side I can start with any one color, mirror it or even have enemy colors next to each other
I know the term "WUBRG" and I always sort cards this way*, but when I am reminded of the color wheel, the image of my own version instantly flashes into my mind.
* Well, come to think of it, my very first trade binder was sorted BUWGR...
I've decided my goal in life is to pick up one of those silver bordered test print Survival of the Fittest. It'd be more expensive than my entire collection is right now, but I want one. I'll report back as I make progress.

As an IT Helpdesk professional, I tried watching The IT Crowd and I thought it was terrible. "Have you tried turning it off and then on again?" is indeed the quote of the day everyday, but I didn't find the show to be all that funny. I though it focused too much on the ignorant boss and I found the IT guys to be incredibly unrealistic which really turned me off from the show. I made it through three episodes and just couldn't watch anymore.
I'm betting that I would find a show about teachers and/or classically trained musicians lame too, so I can understand that. I actually find that most of the funny part have nothing to do with IT, and more about the interactions and situations they are in. Although finding TV show comedy characters 'unrealistic' might mean that your standards are a bit high

That's probably true, but only because the base material hits so close to home. I just kept thinking, "This guy would never get away with this stuff!" Although I will say that my favorite TV comedy right now is Modern Family and it tends to be quite realistic in terms of being able to believe that these characters could be real people.
So one of my friends decided she wanted to run a pathfinder game where we were all Disney Princesses. After initially discounting the idea due to being "girly" I relented and we had our first campaign last night.
I have never had more fun playing an RPG. I was Ariel who was a bard1/rogue2. I played her as a character with boundless joy and wonder, a little ADD, and had the ability to "borrow" things she found interesting. I think the high point for the night was when I stole Capt'n Jack's Rum. I was where all the rum had gone.
