I had to turn that extension off. It's useful, but there were too many times that random autocards for things like basic lands would pop up. Because it changes the appearance of the autocard text, it would obscure other things on the page.
You can disable it from triggering of dictionary text, which would stop Island and Mountain and stuff if you want. There's a bunch of options you can enable/disable on it, and that's one of them.
And it changes the font/color of the cards it sees, but the text stays the same size and there's no pop-ups unless you pan over the card. Don't know how it was obscuring other things on the page.
Well, I disabled it a while ago. That could have been an older version with fewer features. It's good to know that it does those things, though. I might re-enable it and see how it is.
Man, some of the old promo foils are getting super hard to find. Man-O'-War is pretty sold out, as is things like Carnophage and Arc Lightning. Booster Tutor foils are also selling out. Just a heads up to you fellow pimpers. There's a few more, too.
Well I have decided to cut down to 450 cards instead of sitting at 540. Cuts are painful very very painful even though it's mostly silly things like the rector package and the hardcore pox stuff. I was the only person actively going for those kinds of decks.
whenever i hear of you guys sitting at 400+ making cuts and complaining about how hard it is i laugh inside. i run 380 and every new set is like pulling (my) teeth. i'm close to just giving up on updating and keeping my cube in one state. i was thinking this way i would be able to rotate "packages" in and out of my cube from existing archetypes to keep things fresh. maybe if i get it down i'll write a primer of some kind.
Got 3 packs of FRF for Valentine's Day from my wife and son, and I got a Warden of the First Tree and a Mardu Strike Leader. I hadn't picked these up for my Cube yet, so I was pretty happy (even if the packs cost more than the singles would have ;))
I finally found a Future Sight Tarmogoyf at my local shop when I had the cash to buy one. I just need 14 more cards and I'll have my whole cube as planned out for real.
It is kind of funny how every time you think "Ok, after these next few updates things will finally be done except for adding cards from new sets" and it just NEVER ENDS. I flip-flopped from wanting all of my cards in new frame if possible to going for Beta and old foil frame print, and that was an expensive u-turn especially since Beta prices have skyrocketed in the last couple of years.
As an aside, anyone else kinda relieved that Dragons is shaping up to be relatively light on Cubeables? With the DFC Liliana preview I'm more excited about Magic Origins...I've been waiting for a set that plays well with Cube so I can pick up a box for packs to use with Lore Seeker / Booster Tutor. Modern Masters prices got too out of hand too quickly, Fate Reforged looked really promising but I don't want to include any face-down mechanics.
I prefer a mixture of both. I love having a diverse looking pack of cards, so I like to keep it interesting by having lots of all kinds of pimp cards together.
And it depends a lot on the art. Some art looks great extended, and some looks great in foil. Other cards need to be altered with new art because the original art is bleh.
I prefer foils. As a longtime judge, I think cards should be recognizable by their art. That said, card art often changes with reprints. I have a few alters in my cube but I don't want to have a lot of them.
ETA: I also have cards that were graffiti'ed when I lost a game of 5-Color that was played for graffiti ante. "Umezawa's Kitten Kabob" is probably my favorite of that group.
I found a few ktk and frf foils in my piles of c/u that i didnt know were foil. I also put them side by side with each other and can't see much difference besides the foil looks a bit darker and only shines at a certain angle.
To which foils are you referring? The only one that sticks out in my mind is the FS Tarmogoyf...they are super dark and don't look very foil-y.

Not sure if a misprint, but I have opened a foil siege rhino a couple weeks ago and it does look darker than your regular foil, but most important, he feels different. Its matte, rough, as if you would touch sand. Shining not perfect.
I prefer foils. Generally, the only cards I have that are altered fall into one of three categories:
1) There's no foil available
2) I'm not interested in paying the price for a foil (e.g. foil JtMS)
3) I go to a GP and get a doodle alter or something done by the original artist
That being said, I would definitely not recommend foil alters. I got a foil Tamiyo done at GP Boston, and while I like what Deschamps did with it, the alter is at odds with the foiling.
Foil alters can definitely be done right, and look fantastic. Just need the right style to pull it off. Both Bigup and Seesic have altered some amazing looking foil cards.
If you are drafting an unknown cube and see a Zealous Conscripts, do you automatically assume that the other combo pieces are also there? I'm asking because I've just been running the Conscripts and just realized it might lead someone to start drafting for a deck that doesn't exist in the cube.

No, Zealous Conscripts is just a good card on its own.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.

To be fair, I think storm would be best supported at 360.
