It's nice to play a format where we get to make our own banned lists, isn't it? Birthing Pod has been fun and popular in my cube for quite a while. If you support RecSur style decks, Pod slots in pretty nicely as long as you keep the "chain" readily available. Treasure Cruise is still a top 50 card in my cube, too. I doubt I'll be dropping it any time soon.

I think its a combination of both, really. If you run powered then you're more "ignore all of the banned lists", but if you have an unpowered cube then you've built your own banlist.

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
My Wheel of Fortune is a Collectors' Edition because I somehow couldn't find either of the two I know I have. I don't think anyone has even noticed so far (I made no alterations to the card), and if anyone did, I doubt they would care.
I've started picking up CE versions of Alpha/Beta cards that are far outside my budget. Obviously I'd rather have a Beta Winter Orb or Armageddon or dual land, but they look and feel is practically the same, so not much is lost aesthetically. For a fraction of the price, I think it's totally worth it. We've been able to pick up a few CE dual lands with cut corners for super cheap.

We drafted very large decks way back when we first started cubing. It was so different from normal limited for us that the added cards seemed like the right thing to do. In the end a 40 card deck is still better than a 60 card regardless of the power level of all of the cards. Your 41st card will always be slightly worse than your 40th card.
Heh, I've got a player who just can't bring himself to make cuts and usually plays 60 card decks against everyone else's 40 card decks. He doesn't win very much, though.

I've wanted to try 50-card sealed before. With six regular Magic packs, a 40-card deck is probably all you can hope for. With six cube packs, it's tough to get down to 40. (We generally do sealed with five packs, FWIW.) I'm big on not going over 40 in limited formats, but with six cube packs, I think 50-card decks would be interesting to try once. If the decks are diluted and it's not fun, then we stick to 40.
Lived the dream tonight with this Tinker/Upheaval monstrosity and finally showed my drafters how powerful Upheaval is. Timed it with both Deep-Sea Kraken and Ancestral Vision a few times along with the usual floating mana strategy. Splashed some white too for the extra lifegain stall to hit more land drops before casting it.
Strangest play I made with the deck:
I survived long enough to cast Upheaval but thanks to Shattering Spree he was able to deal with my wincons. I played Shackles, but we were both low on cards left, and I was going to deck out first, so he was content to play no creatures and just wait me out. I knew I still had Sundering Titan, but only 3 cards left in my deck, so I had to find it pretty quick. I ended up casting Control Magic on my own Spellskite just so I could Condescend it for 0 to scry 2 to find it (also scried Tinker to the bottom here ). Hardcast Titan the following turn, then he played a bunch of things to block it. Shackled his Flameblast Dragon EoT and killed him with it's fire breath off the red mana from Chromatic Lantern.
Upheaval decks are the best. I've proven they're a force to reckon with quite a few times. I've played memory jar + Upheaval a few times too. That...was fun.

...I have 4. And a foil Japanese one (which I think is safe due to Vintage).
On the bright side, bought into Worldgorger Dragons at 2/each, and they are currently 10+ on TCGplayer...
