Shooting for a roughly similar power level to Township or Wolf-Run, both of which have performed admirably for us.
Land T: Add 1 to your mana pool. UW,T: Tap target permanent.
Land T: Add 1 to your mana pool. 1UR,T: Exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card.
Land T: Add 1 to your mana pool. 1UG,T: Search you library for a card with a basic land type and put it onto the battlefield tapped. Then shuffle your library.
Land T: Add 1 to your mana pool. BR,T: Put a 1/1 black and red Vampire creature token that can't block onto the battlefield.
Land T: Add 1 to your mana pool. 2BG,T,Sacrifice a creature: Return target creature card with converted mana cost less than the sacrificed creature's from your graveyard to play.
Edit: Of course for some cubes (powered, or <=450) these might all be too weak. I'd be interested in how people rank them against each other nonetheless.

If an aggro deck is spending 3 mana for a 1/1 with less than no abilities, its already in trouble. Though it could be great in Stax.
Seeing as ORI doesn't have a 1-drop mana dork yet...

I wanted him to have 0 power and tap for green but then it wouldn't be able to activate Renown... Turning into a 3/3 might be too good. Maybe make him unable to block?
I was just thinking of how they could bolster my cubes red 1 drops with the Renown mechanic. This should be printable, right?

Would 1/2 be pushing it? The above actually feels more uncommon then rare to me.
I think Monastery Swiftspear has shown that they are willing to push one drops a fair bit, even at uncommon. I think we could see this at 1/2, though it seems fine as a 1/1 too. Maybe lose the must attack clause.

Since the trigger can only happen once, a 1/1 renown 1 creature for R would be worse than Stromkirk Noble. Plus, the Noble has a bonus upside, and this one has a drawback, so the haste makes up for that. I don't think it could be a 1/2 unless it was rare.

Nice! My version was pretty inelegant compared to Honored Hierarch.
I dunno, I think I prefer the tension of a dork who can go to combat and becomes a decent beater if you get him through once. Having to hit at all before you can make mana really limits the actual card.

Yeah I agree. At first glance I liked the card but it's not even close.
I want Terravore to be reprinted. In times of Fetschis whereever you look it seems like totally broken card for modern. I mean each player fetsches 2 times and you have a 4/4 trampler for 3 that grows as the game goes on. I mean they already reprinted the black and red on so why not him^^.

Would "~ cannot be unattached." work to do what I want here? It's a lot cleaner, but I don't know if it would create weird interactions with artifact removal or bounce. My gut says no, but I'm not sure.
Also, +3/+3 may be too much of an upgrade over wargear. Maybe just +3/+2 ala wargear, which also makes the downside come into play more quickly?
Maybe this: "As long as ~ is attached to a creature you control, ~ cannot be equipped."

That language is a lot better than my first go.
I think combat damage only might be too little of a downside and make too good at being equipped to a blocker and discouraging attacks, although I like the interaction of that mechanic with double-strike and vigilance.
Hmm... I'm seeing immediate parallels to Unstable Mutation. Maybe get the -1/-1 counter on your upkeep?
Given how pushed I think it is, I wanted the downside to come as soon as possible so that the creature wouldn't be a great blocker. Given that this will almost always go in agressive decks, and almost always be on attacking creatures, it may not actually make much difference.
And yeah, mutation was the inspiration for this card.

Maybe leave it at renown 1 but make the mana non-contingent?
Or oh, what if it gains vigilance while renowed? That way you can attack AND produce mana if you're willing to give up one turn of mana production.

I don't think this is true. M14's only equipment are Haunted Platemail, Accorder's Shield, and Fireshrieker.
WotC does not like super cheap equip costs these days because it makes the equipment significantly more powerful.
But also equip-0 has a lot of infinite interactions like Cephalid Illusionist and Task Force.
Unnatural Selection is already a card name
