My 600 card cube has had white borders since I started working on it. This drives me crazy. But, I am also a cheapskate and refuse to pay money for cards... so there was a bit of a dilemma.
After almost 2 years of painting the cards it's now complete.
Upper Left - I painted these as soon as I got them and they are old now.
Upper Right - Two of the last cards to paint just because I was on the fence about whether or not they had permanent homes in my collection.
Lower Right - Two white bordered cards I just didn't like the black bordered art on.
Lower Right - Lazy alters as far as the eye can see. I know I could acquire black bordered versions of some of these cheap (The Catastrophe is some Battle Royale thing and I was too impatient to buy an Urza copy), but I also really hate buying cards I already own. Fixing them is just a lot easier and faster.
NO MORE WHITE BORDERS!! WOOOOHOOOOOO.
And yes, I do realize that nobody else cares nearly as much as I do, but
You're such a talented artist when it comes to basic borderless extensions (your eye for color-matching and blending is particularly keen) ...I'm a bit disappointed to see the borders get turned black on a lot of those in comparison to how pretty it could be to have them all be borderless extensions.
I mean, just look at the quality of your extension on that Dan Fraiser color bleed on Forcefield ...that ****'s hard to do man, and it looks great.
And the brick work w/ color and texture both on the Final Fortune is fantastic.

Yeah, the boring black borders were just done as a practical thing - no consideration for aesthetics. I also did most of those before I knew I was using them in the Cube. A few were done that way because I'm not 100% convinced they have longterm homes anywhere but my junk box. No way would I spend 30 minutes of my day on Contract From Below when there's a good chance it's getting cut soon. There are a few that I am now looking to fancify just because they are gorgeous cards (Jokulhaps, Arena) and they will stay in the Cube for as long as it's around.
And thanks, I sometimes wish the more elaborate and creative alters were more my thing, but I find such satisfaction with color matching - I'm a color theory professor - and finding ways of mimicking textures.
Got this Snapcaster Mage commissioned a few weeks ago. I thought I'd posted it here, but it looks like I haven't. Pretty excited, since I'm not going to be foiling it out.

Who did that alter if you don't mind?
It was done by Stuart Waddicor aka "MrShy Paints Cards" out of the UK.

Also, as winterlude noticed, hello fellow Bostonian! You ever play at pandi?
I got to Panda for prereleases, and then just randomly for other events. I also sometimes judge if one of the employees is sick. I'd go more often, but I've only had time for one MTG night out a week for a while, and Legacy is my format of choice, so I go to Gaming Etc out in Acton on Tuesdays. I've been trying to push Panda to support Legacy for a while, but it hasn't gained too much traction.
On topic, my next project is to figure out if I can get a JtMS altered to have a Future Sight border. I feel like this could go very poorly.

That's sweet. I was going to get one from puca but then they jumped even higher. I'll probably go for an alter at this point.
The 28,900 pp he was at was criminally low. You couldn't find them cheaper than nearly $400 anyway, so I did end up giving the guy a bonus that brought it up to 37,500 pp. But still super worth, all things considered.

Two years ago my Cube was pilfered by someone I thought to be a close friend. I lost several hundred dollars of cards, all of which were critical to Cube composition, including a few Blue duals. I replaced them all immediately, but much to my chagrin one card that was stolen had seen a recent price spike and I didn't want to get it in foil again. Last night, a close friend who plays my Cube often helped me out and gave me a good deal on this card for helping him complete his Legacy deck. It's difficult to tell from the picture, but it is foil, and I'm very excited to have it rejoining the ranks (and to be putting the non-foil in my trade binder). So, without further ado...
EDIT: Of course the picture is enormous. How do I make it smaller? Haha
