I run 40 foil unhinged lands of each basic, so my basics are now worth around $4000-$5000. I got them a few years ago when they were in the single digits each. Knowing that my basics are worth that much, I'm really wondering now what my entire cube is worth, since its mostly foiled out now.
Only one of each Zen (one of each type) and Unhinged foil basic for me, as I have no duplicate artworks for land in the cube. I would probably run all Unhinged or Zen basics of a single type if I had enough.
Too Much. I have 60 of each basic lands (so 300 in total)- all Beta (almost at 20 of each of the 3 pictures). That alone is about $1000 going of SSG's prices.
I have CE(I) duals and P9. Everything else that could be Beta is Beta (except Bird of Paradise because I like the 8th Edition Art and Balance because I really like the Judge art). Almost Everything else that can be foiled is foiled (still missing Grim Monolith and a handfull of smaller cards) The handful of P3K cards add to that too (I just recently took out Imperial Seal but there are still a few more left).
I have thought many times about trying to figure out the best way to actually price my cube out so i can get it properly insured. The problem is getting someplace that has prices for everything in it (Most only update their prices when a card comes in and if they haven't had one in months the price could be out considerably). Plus with the constant shifting of card values it is hard to keep on top of it.
I wish I hadn't got the pimping bug, because seriously, when it comes time to cut cards that you spent time and money tracking down the foil or Beta version for, it gets really hard.
This is one of the most rue statements I've read in a long time. It is the reason I still have Beta Shivan Dragon in my Cube (probably the only real offender but still). He get's outclassed about 3 times a year (every time the print a new red dragon) but I just can't cut him. Ironically he still rarely shows up sideboarded and I've still seen him connect in for the kill even with everything else in there.
Anybody skimming through this forum looking for Cubes to burgle should be looking elsewhere since mine isn't nearly as tricked out as most. But if I were to go online and order every card individually, my estimate is $4,000 for my unpowered cube.
I have a massive stack of Japanese MPS lands, that seem to have gone from being 50 cent cards nobody wants to buy to $10 a piece. I am most pleased, as I was going to switch them out anyway.
People put a lot in their basic lands, apparently. I gather them wherever I happen to find a pretty foil in a trade binder and my lands are singleton. So I won't spend too much on basics overall. I just noticed I had two ZEN foils and that's already quite pimp for me.
I guess my 450 C/Ube is in the region of 1$/card. Might be twice that, but surely not in the multiples of thousands...
edit: I did a rough search on magiccardmarket.com and I got 270 € + basics (20 € tops), that's roughly 380 US$. Not too shabby an estimation... The three most expensive cards are just pimpage, so by cutting the altered Jade Mage, the altered Path to Exile, all the basics and the Champs Blood Knight (I'm definitely doing the latter, now that I've seen it's gone up to 25 €), one could reduce it by 70€ or 90$. Then there's also the Chain Lightning which one might let go and we're down to a very manageable 190€/280$ plus sleeves.
I'm generally happy with what I've invested in my cube. Nothing's crazy expensive (except that bloody Blood Knight, which is not that good anyway), but most everything looks nice. Might invest in a promo Lightning Greaves or a Champs Imperious Perfect though...
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

My one comment would be that I would price it at something like the Starcity's price. It seems to me the one real reason to know the value of your cube is for insurance purposes and for insurance purposes i'd want it ensured at a value I could replace it if it got stolen.
Man I need to get onto pimping my basics. My dream would be to have all Alpha/Beta basics, but I just cant find the excuse to shell out for them.
Right now I'm running a god-awful mix of Zendikar, Unhinged, Urza's Saga, Ice Age snow covered (for no particular reason), foil Mirrodin and a few Mirage.
Not including basics.... $0.00 but I spent well over 60 hours of work making the proxies over the course of a few months. I like to take my time with it.

Alright, so I sifted through my Cube, and grabbed any card that I thought would be over $1. I got all their prices off StarCityGames and added them up:
Add 300 or so additional cards at <$1 and you get ~$100. I'm also using a matching set of Invasion Basics that cost $1 each, so add $150 on top of that.
Estimated Total: $1600+
(Take into account that not all my cards are NM so this is an over estimate. And again, these are StarCity prices. But it ended up being a lot more than I thought it would be.)
I crawled SCG with a script, and if I were to buy my entire list from them, including paying the $0.15 or whatever for the dinky commons, it comes out to about $2,200. Of course, that's a very different price from what I might get if I were to sell it...
Really? My 450 card cube + 200 lands + 150 tokens is fully proxied as well and cost over $300 in physical materials; primarily ink (~$150), sleeves (~$100), label paper (~$50) & bulk commons (~$20).
Lets see. My cube cost me
$.57(360/9) to print out at kinkos. Add in the bulk commons (they were given to me free). My Basic lands are 25 matching unlimited basic (given to me free) and the sleeves. (I think I spen $60 on 1500 sleeves a few years back). So it was fairly cheep.

That's why when I priced my list out, I went $0.50 under the lowest eBay BIN price, excluding shipping. If the card wasn't on eBay, I did 85% of SCG. It gave me a closer estimate of what it's real value would be if I decided to sell it.
I use my friends cube every time we get to hang, just between the lands its prob. 1500 easy plus maybe another 2-3k between all the staples of all the formats so like 4k total. So many iconic cards hard to hit all of them. Also I didnt realize people pimped their cubes out.
Oh ya man, pimping the cube is half the fun! Using all premium cards and alters ...it just makes the experience so aesthetically pleasing. I was stoked when I finally got my cube 100% pimped, and I've continued to tinker with it even since.
Well, I didn't include sleves in that, they cost around the same again. I don't really see sleeves being part of the cube, though. I use the same sleeves when I sleeve up a constructed deck
It's all about the thrill of the hunt for me; I love trading and acquiring things (since a child I have collected baseball stickers, football stickers, stamps, Choose Your Own Adventure books, crystals, Transformers toys, comic books, sports cards, refrigerator magnets from places I've been, Star Wars CCG cards, and Magic cards) so pimping out the Cube has just been a natural extenstion of that.
I love it! (except when foil Sorins won't come down from 80-90...grr)
