One box is the C/U cube and the other is the rare cube. The fat pack box houses EDH decks and the three deck box house Legacy decks. The loose cards in the center are basics for the rare cube.
I kept my old cube in an old box from an old Magic: The Gathering special set. I gave my friend a cube in that same box as a Christmas gift and a mutual third friend of both of ours decided that the white cardboard box I bought to replace it just wasn't good enough. He said that a rectangular box wasn't appropriate to house a cube.
So, he made/gave me this:
Four of the sides open up to reveal four stacks of cards. I think there's enough for > 1000 cards, so all 400 cards in my cube, 160 or so lands, and tokens for everything in the cube still leave plenty of room.
Well, those are my pauper cards. Also, the sleeves though very ugly and surprisingly affordable (750 for 14.95), are very durable. They don't warp after you take off the bands at all. You'd be surprised. But hey, you want to talk about groan, look through the 1st few pages of my cube thread, I was going back and forth with people about how I used to play with no sleeves because I didn't care. The only reason they have sleeves now is not for value retention but for overall wear on the cards. Can't cube if you can't read the cards anymore
Well, from my experience making my own computer case, don't get wood from lowes or home depot. Its cheap splinters like a ***** especially the thin stuff.
You'll want good tools for cutting it, a normal hand saw, or some dremel isn't going to cut it :(. I was lucky enough to have a father in law that had big power tools and table saws but the wood was so crap it didn't really matter.
Remember with out a router, you won't get those nice rounded edges very easy, you still can it will probally have to be done though with sand paper and a whole lotta work.
To be honest, if I had not found that box while looking around hobby lobby, I would have made one, but now, I'm glade I bought it, 5 mins of deconstruction on it and maybe a few more mins of gluing some custom wood fillers so the cards are more snug into place, it'll be perfect.

Your new case looks pretty awesome. How much did that set you back? ($$)
Also, you showed bead counters and dice in the top tray, does the lid keep it completely snug when closed?
That's actually quite awesome. We had one open up near us recently, too, so I might be able to graduate from my old white cardboard box.
Killem, how snug is the bottom section vertically? (is there enough room between the top tray and the top of the card stacks in the bottom section to put some felt on both the bottom section and the bottom of the tray?)
Overall, it looks like there's a lot of room to customize it with additional partitions, and can fit a variety of cube sizes.
Its not real snug at alll at first I thought it was then I learned my little gem tokens were pushing up on the roof so I took some out then it stopped building up pressure. it does rest on my sleeves but I think the weight overall distributed evenely so I don't think it will harm anything.
I just love it because I can now bring the cube, my edh decks, and normal decks.

This is how my case is too. It used to be a pain to carry more than just the cube. Now I can carry both cubes, EDH, Legacy, dice, pen and paper, tokens, everything we need. Having a sweet carrying case is awesome. Although with all that in it, it's fairly heavy.
Here's my solution, the KMC 1000 count Card Barrier Box
Inside:
The top row of the box holds my 450 count cube, and it is separated by a plastic divider. The bottom row has two dividers, which holds my lands (20 of each type) on the right, my three commander decks in the middle, the rest of my lands, and finally, my life counter! (that silvery bit on the left). I've tried corrugated boxes before, but those always break down because I carry it around in a backpack. This plastic box is solid, sexy, and literally carries my entire collection sans traders in one neat package. At $20, I cannot recommend it enough.
The only complaint that I have with it is that I wish the dividers were removable so that I can create my own spaces, but that's a small niggle at what is perhaps my most favorite card storage solution.
Post your pimp boxes.

I was thinking of paying my brother-in-laws father to build a similar box for me. But to have it with 5 partitions for the basic lands.
Though Blue Sleeves?
This is my cube box, There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

And, yes, that's R2 in the background.

Same here, only I get to put in 50 basic lands as well because my cube is only 450 cards
Blue Sleeves too, btw.

I think I'm going to invest in a nice custom wood box after the holidays though.
