Here is why: Turn 1 Burn(ie Magma Spray)/Soul-Scar Mage to set up a fail-safe for the combo>Turn 2 Thing in the Ice> Turn 3 Mirage Mirror> Turn 4 copy Thing in the Ice and it will flip, returning all creatures, stifling aggro. Then you can swing for 7 on turn 4 with a naked board.
If you don't get these cards together, no problem, just operate it like the SoI U/R control deck which is still really good. You would probably play Mirage Mirror and Enigma Drake over Fevered Visions. I would have to look over the options for the deck. But I think a lot of people will understand the line of play here and how strong it is.
Of course I'm not here to talk about a deck tech though, I'm here to talk about the many interactions you can have with this card. This is just one I saw. Are there any other cards that enter the battlefield with counters on them that we can exploit? Are there any other interactions that we can exploit? Thing in the Ice flipping on turn 4 is no joke in standard. It doesn't win you the game, but it can get you damn close.
This doesn't work.
Rules state that a non-DFC, Mirage Mirror in this case, will not flip when copying a DFC, TitI.
Beyond that, you'd still need to cast a spell to flip TitI, but again, that still doesn't work.
The card becomes copies 5-8 of Anointed Procession. There is a fringe tier playable deck already built around the card (Abzan Tokens); if you can more easily put multiple copies of the card on the board and obtain critical mass, the deck becomes even better to my mind.

I don't think this card really boosts this at all, IMHO. You have to pay 2 every turn, so it basically adds that to every token spell/token generator. Seems slow.
You only need one extra token doubler to do dumb things, and the mirror has other synergies in the Sam Black list. EOT you can pump mana into making copies of Thraben Inspector or Catacomb Siftee. They might go away but they'll leave clue and scion tokens. And any token creatures hitting the battlefield triggers lifegain from Anointer Priest. I do think one or two copies has potential in Abzan Tokens.
I think it has more potential in decks with a lot of etb effects.

When it copies, it does not ETB. No ETB effects fire. I do however agree with your first sentence; it still has synergy with Anointer Priest and Hidden Stockpile.

yeah I just reread the card. I thought it made copies until EOT, it just becomes a copy. Much less broken.
Ah, we have hit a deadzone. No fear my friends, I have ACTUALLY found a way to flip Thing in the Ice on turn 4.

Turn 1 Burn/Counter/Creature >Turn 2 Burn/Counter/Creature >Turn 3 Solemnity >Turn 4 play Thing in the Ice and it's transform will trigger as it enters the battlefield.
This will let you swing through for 7 on Turn 5, after you return their board the turn before. So this has a turn delay due to the summoning sickness on Thing in the Ice, but this can be given haste (you still have two mana open after playing Thing in the Ice on turn 4) OR you could just play it in a control shell and protect yourself/Thing. Pretty solid in my opinion. And Solemnity isn't dead on the field because it hates against any counter strategies, which are pretty popular right now. Granted, it won't always do something. But if it were me I wouldn't leave Solemnity out if I knew they could just play Thing in the Ice and flip it turn 4.
Solemnity works for this because Creatures, Enchantments, Artifacts, and Lands will all ENTER THE BATTLEFIELD WITH NO COUNTERS. So Thing in the Ice will enter with 0 counters which will, in turn, cause its flip ability to activate.
Let's talk about how fair this is. Solemnity doesn't necessarily do too much for us other than protect us from counters and flip Thing in the Ice, so it isn't really a broken card. And the combo itself isn't too toxic. I'd much rather have everything returned to my hand as the opponent than having Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger exile two of my lands on turn 4. The opponent has ample opportunities to respond. You can Fatal Push/Grasp of DarknessThing in the Ice before its flip trigger activates and kill it. You can counter the flip, you can counter the enchantment, and you can counter the creature. The hardest thing to do, but it is still doable, is to remove the enchantment before Thing ever gets out. I think there are ample responses to the combo and it can't even swing through for the damage until turn 5 which is plenty of time for many decks in the format to respond.
It would be awesome if I could get other people's opinions on this. Is it too strong? Is it too weak? Would it rather play something else? Am I stupid? Throw it all at me.

Pretty sure even if Thing in the Ice enters with zero ice counters you still need an instant/sorcery to trigger the flip.
You may be correct, but I will have to check the rules. The "Then" part of the card effect makes me think you are right. But even if you are, it is still doable.

You still need to cast a spell...
And how does any of this pertain to Mirage Mirror?
