Fun card? Instant speed cheaty upgrades. With a new monoblue build featuring master of waves and nykthos, shrine to nyx, you can assemble a fleet of 4/4s in no time.
Meh. No one did it with dragonshift. Why would they do it with an even more complex and mana-intensive 3-card combo?
Well, Dragonshift is only temporary. Hour of Need is a more versatile card. Plus Battlefield Thaumaturge could lower its cost. I'm not saying I'd take the deck to a GP, mind you lol, it's just something that seems fun to pull off.

This comment is so pointlessly contrarian that it borders on trolling. I didn't even mention a combo, just noticed a synergy- and I couldn't care less why a deck built around a prior card does not exist. I tend to consider new cards in light of other new cards and general meta/format context. I assume you do as well, since all the decks in your signature are fringe brews.
This card seems like it could be a finisher option for a U/X deck. Possibly a variation of UB tempo. Your early turns are occupied by any of blacks 12 one drop 2/x creatures, along with judge's familiar. Once they get in a position to recover, or manage to get a few blockers past your diverse removal suite, you can upgrade a couple weenies into 4/4 flyers.
U/R seems to show potential as well. young pyromancer + tons of instant speed burn and bounce. Sac a few harmless pyromancer tokens for 4/4 flyers come turn 5, which should finish them off after some weenie beats and burn. Twinflame functions in a similar capacity, but I don't know if a deck could make use of both cards. End of their turn five, you get two 4/4 flyers. On your turn 6, send in four 4/4 flyers.
As above stated this card shows some nice synergy with Battlefield Thaumaturge, allowing you to turn creatures into 4/4 flyers for 2 + 1 U per creature so it isn't that bad, it seems good with Launch the Fleets, allowing for large tokens.
I don't outright write off this card. It does have uses with basically countering a removal spell and upgrading your creature. It does have synergy with Battlefield Thaumaturge. Instant is the only saving grace for this card. If it has any hope at all is because it is instant.

Not saying the card is a bomb, just think it'd be fun to break up the stale old MUD shell.

Just tossing ideas around ;p

Isn't it 1 U + U per target as Battlefield Thaumaturge's ability causes instants to cost 1 less per creature targeted?
