Simple concept: Drop trigger creatures, play spells to trigger them. Control the board with burn spells while simultaneously zapping your opponent with Guttersnipe and making chump blockers with Pyromancer, all the while building up a big Chimera. Keranos and Chandra are big threats, each providing a combination of burn damage and card advantage. If Athreos becomes a thing, Magma Spray is also an option. And I know this deck would probably be better with Mutavaults, but I don't have any and they're really expensive so I'm gonna try and see if I can make it work without them.
Soon as I update Cockatrice, I'll give this a spin. Any suggestions for cards I may have missed (or that I didn't miss but just didn't put in here) would be appreciated.
Chandra's Phoenix would probably work better over Chimera. It has recursion against control if they sweep instead of d-sphereing it. It's also possible White decks will start running Rest in Peace mainly because of Aetheros.
I would also advise against running super conditional removal such as Spite, it being a sorcery that requires cards in the graveyard. It would just be better to run another burn spell like Shock that can hit a player or planeswalker. Cyclonic Rift is also a great finisher for you, bounce their field on the end of their turn and then swing for lethal.
Since it looks like you in most cases would be assuming the aggro role, Stormbreath dragon is a great finisher. Also Mana Confluence while not considerably necessary does help assure you that you will have mana up turn 3 for a Dissolve and turn 4 for a Pyromaster.
If you wanted to get a bit janky and play more a tempo than an aggro game, Battlefield Thaumatuge synchronizes pretty well with your deck.
Ah, I forgot about Phoenix. I do have a playset of those lying around.
I'm also thinking I might want to include Swan Song. Aside from dealing with gods quite well, it allows me to drop a turn 3 Pyromancer or turn 4 Guttersnipe and prevent my opponent from hitting them with a burn or kill spell on the same turn. That's a problem I frequently had with the old (INN/RTR) version of this deck, but Swan Song solves it nicely (and a 2/2 flier is no real threat to this deck; at most, they'll get one swing out of it and then it gets burned).
Stormbreath Dragon would be nice, but like Mutavault, it's expensive and I don't have any. I'll definitely see about getting a couple though.
Gonna swap Chimera for Phoenix and swap Spite of Mogis for Swan Song and see how that works. Cockatrice has an updated card list now, so I can get to testing.
Edit: Added a couple Cyclonic Rifts and cut a couple Quickens too.
Izzet Charm will be your best friend. Very versatile, removal, counterspell, and cycling all stuck on one. Would recommend.
Also, I see no reason for Quicken to go in here. I get that it cycles, but I cannot imagine it is worth it since that is the ONLY thing you would be using it for. Divination is probably better in its' slot.
Even though the card is kind of meh, I like the thought of playing Voyage's End in the deck. It can allow you to play a more tempo game. Plus if you have guttersnipe and/or young pyro out, casting that spell with those out can help further your goal. Also the idea of Izzet Charm is great in this kind of deck. Even though dissolve is the best counter in standard right now, in this deck you want lower costing spells so you can keep the tempo up. A number of them is fine, like two maybe. I also understand the idea with Magma Jet but I think I would rather just play shock over that. You already have the scry lands and some card draw with Izzet Charm and the god. Paying one mana to get value off your guttersnipe and young pyro is easier than playing it for two mana, but I can understand having a certain number of magma jets in the deck as well, like two of shock and two of jet sounds reasonable.
