too narrow for MD
I pretty clearly said SB, right there in my post. the post you quoted. if you'll look. at the post. with your eyes.
You're the one who's having trouble reading, or rather comprehending the reason for my reply. Other people in this thread claimed this card is MD-worthy, I argued it isn't because Revoke hasn't seen MD play (because both cards are too narrow), and then your post happened. Now I know there are a lot of dumb ***** on these forums but still you shouldn't mistake everyone for being one of them.
An interesting note from a control players perspective: Deicide is not by definition better than Revoke, because control decks dont necessarily need to answer enchantment cards at instant speed.
Revoke also answers Pithing Needle and will be an answer to Godsend, which is the kind of versatility that a control player might just value.
If you are truly believe
1) Godsend might see play in post-JOU standard and
2) this would pose a problem for control,
I'm having hard time trusting your analysis on which is better, Revoke or Deicide
Being able to untuck a planeswalker from a Sphere or Banishing light EOT and have that 2 mana open on your turn... is a big deal... much bigger than hitting Pithing Needle or Godsend (lol). You have Spheres and now Banishing Light to deal with cards like that.
I was up pretty late when I first saw this card and missed part of it. So, this can exile stuff at instant speed, and God are hit extra hard by it. Not bad. I guess it may see some sideboard play in coming months, or at least, people will experiment with it and give it a chance before sticking with it or tossing it.

I actually don't think it is too narrow to mainboard. There are targets to hit in every single top tier standard deck at the moment and in certain decks is a total and utter blowout.

Revoke hasn't seen main deck play? Really? It has fallen out of favor as a main deck one of in recent weeks but it has definitely seen main deck play since its printing.

This will be main decked as a 2 of and another 2 of in the sideboard. White was missing a good 2 mana instant removal spell. This fills that hole very well.
Mono Blue does take a hit from this but will adapt. It is getting some better creatures from JIN, more late game power, and increase number of dispels in the sideboard.

So what are you hitting with this against MBD? Underworld Connections? What about UWx, D-sphere? Against monsters, hmm, err... Courser? Yeah seems pretty damn awesome, even without touching the subject of losing with these on your hand against the existing and soon-to-exist -aggro decks that Mana Confluence will make possible. 5/5, would play over Hero's Downfall / Jace AoT / some other crappy card that's not needed in my MD

I stand corrected. However 1 is probably the maximum number you play in the MD, and only in control because their plan is to prolong the game -> it is more likely that your opponent plays a target for Revoke. I do think Deicide is a strict upgrade in the current format, but it still doesn't make it more maindeckable in other archetypes & you still don't play more than 1 in MD.
I hate this card because 1) it will only see play in control deck sideboards because they need instant speed enchantment removal and control doesn't need more cards 2) While it will be in sb's for enchantment removal, casual fnm players who like to jam gods in their decks will get caught in the crossfire 3) it shouldn't have been printed at rare and just takes up a slot that could be used for a more interesting card (although another way to look at it is that R&D obviously couldn't come up with an interesting card so they made this)
Edit: @Tiemuuu you really don't want to get me started on dreadbore and hero's downfall. I could go on for pages that would eventually devolve into why I only play on cockatrice and burn effigies of Mark Rosewater every night before I go to sleep. If you don't believe me go check the archived threads where they were spoiled. (okay they are metaphorical effifies)

the flavor is awesome.
what the card does is pretty unique to white.
I'd say it's an interesting card, though I agree... There was no reason the add the lobotomy clause. We were finally getting good ways to fight UWx control. Now they print an easy MDable 2 mana answer to pretty much all of these things.

I think it makes perfect sense to print this at rare. It's the exact same reason why Murder that hits PWs got promoted from a common to rare, and a sorcery-speed Terminate that hits PWs as well got the same treatment. Gods are legendary, from the ruling and flavor stand point as well, just as PWs are, and cards that target or hate on legendary cards should be "rare" as well. I agree It's not gonna be the best feeling in the world when you see this card p1p1 in a draft, but flavor matters.

So much insight here. I'm just QFTing, but man, this exchange is a microcosm of entire philosophical debates about magic.

To put it bluntly: My Boros Burn and Azorius Control would currently never leave home without 2x Revoke Existence in the sideboard, I'd much rather cut other cards to make sure I have at least 2 copies in the board.
In the current Theros Standard environment - with Gods, enchantment God weapons and enchantment creatures running rampant - it seems very likely that Deicide will replace Revoke Existence completely, at least until rotation.
So, barring a number of really broken (non enchantment) artifacts - which would not fit into Theros block in the slightest (and there aren't many mythic and rare slots left) - Deicide will surely see widespread sideboard play, if not even some mainboard presence.
I suppose so. Courser of Kruphix has really become a thing, and people seem fairly interested in Master of Feasts as well.

I absolutely see Deicide seeing mainboard play once Ravnica rotates, right now, maybe as a 1 or 2 of in midrange decks running white. I play a G/W midrange deck, and I'm struggling in the numbers, not sure if play more Deicide or more Reprisal.
There's a lot more to test, and new decks will spawn in a couple of weeks, but right now Deicide seems like a good card to me, pretty situational like most of the removal these days, but really playable.
Exile any card that matches the core type of card played in the current set. If it's a really cool card that makes your opponent feel awesome, take every single one of them out of his hand, library, graveyard, and collection and throw them at his face and all around whilst laughing manaically and shouting "It is done! Unless I begin to see a lot of artifacts this is going to replace my main board Revoke Existence. The instant speed really helps a lot and I've only had good results from a mainboard Revoke Existence.

In my testing...
...it's a pretty dead card vs Monsters, it only hits Courser of Kruphix (and they normally have another one in hand) and the occasional Xenagod. Reprisal destroys their dudes.
...it hits Detention Sphere vs U/W/x control. Reprisal does nothing.
...it hits Underworld Connections, Herald of Torment and Erebos, God of the Dead and Whip of Erebos vs Mono Black. Reprisal only hits Desecration Demon.
...it's really good vs Blue Devotion, it hits Thassa, God of the Sea, Bident of Thassa, Ephara, God of the Polis and Detention Sphere. Reprisal does nothing.
...vs B/W midrange, it hits Athreos, God of the Passage, Eidolon of Countless Battles and not a lot more. Reprisal hits Obzedat, Ghost Council.

I do, but I feel like I need 2-3 more pieces of removal, and those 2 are pretty equal powered in my testing. Both are good in the right matchup.
In my mind that tells they're both good SB cards.
