Seems great in a Phenax, God of Deception deck, which appreciates both the card selection and the cute butt (against Rakdos Cackler decks). While the Standard Inspired issue of "how the hell do I trigger this thing" could come up, even outside of Magical Christmasland it isn't hard to picture getting 1-2 activations here (or 0 in matchups where you need a 1/3 on constant defense). Attack into Sylvan Caryatid, poke Control for 1, poke Control for 0 (Jace AoT +1) but still get to pitch dead removal spells for gas/walkers, etc. It also survives a Drown in Sorrow and is a good argument for running 1-2, since you can tutor up Downfall in the event that Drown in Sorrow is dead (or vice versa when Downfall is too slow).
Beyond Phenax this card could also be potent in a UB Heroic shell, similar to the one piloted by Ken Yukuhiro. First off this is a 1/3 Human, but more importantly it offers card selection to a deck that desperately needs it (as anyone who has ever mulliganed a hand of Mizzium Skin, Boon of Erebos, Triton Tactics, land, land, Springleaf Drum, Hidden Strings could tell you). Being able to pitch excess creatures for gas or random Heroic triggers for Tormented Hero or Nivmagus Elemental is exactly what the deck is after.
I'm not sure if this has enough value to make it in a more standard UB Control deck (Shouta Yasooka style, likely) as Omenspeaker did not. But I'm still enamored. Gogo playable uncommons.
Its "my kind of card"...I like playing with a toolbox. Variance is a pain, tutoring is great.
This card can help solve the I have a doom blade when I really want an ultimate price problem. Its just that inspire is such a jump through hoops mechainic.
I am thinking its better in the U/B heroic humans deck than a control deck despite its power and toughness. since in a UB control deck you have very few creatures and this will never live.
I actually disagree and think it would be better suited to a more controlling approach. My reasoning being that in such a heroic deck it:
1) Neither has heroic
2) Isn't aggressive enough
3) Would be transmuting cards that are very similar in power and function, making it mostly redundant
On the other hand it blocks Mutavault and small Rx decks while being able to apply "some" pressure and most importantly find more relevant answers against the Control decks of the format. Definitely one to look out for, even if just as an utility option in the board.
I like it

Don't even have a particular combo in mind. Just thinking it's the right colors to stall for the first couple of turns (and thoughtseize away their ways to deal with a combo). And spring leaf drum would actually be good just for the mana accel probably. But with all-you-can-eat tutoring, maybe a real combo deck just got possible?
Is there a 2-card "I win" combo even out there right now?
I don't think the card is nearly powerful enough to act as an combo enabler in standard nor do I think there are any particularly powerful combo's that you could achieve in the first place. If anything I'd play him as a early wall with some extra utility.

Enter the infinite then pass turn when they pass it back on your upkeep cast riddle of lightning twice for 24 damage.

Would Dark Confidant still be good if he punched you in the face for 5 damage a turn?

Maybe some weird deck where every card in the deck is 2CMC, so you can always trade any non-land in your hand for any other non-land in the deck. Of course, you kinda need Springleaf Drum for this guy, and that's only 1 CMC...

While your points are valid, if you've ever tried Ken Yukuhiro's UB deck, the deck runs into some awkward situations. Your cards are creatures (6 1 CMC, 7 2 CMC, 8 3 CMC) tricks (12 1 CMC), 2 Springleaf Drum and 4 Hidden Strings (2 CMC). None of the cards after the creatures do a damn thing without creatures, and an all creature draw is pretty bad. The best draw is like 3 lands, 3 creatures, 3 enablers. This leads to a decent amount of mulligans, and medicore keeps just because it has dudes/lands.
Having another Human that can increase the consistency of the deck is very appealing, letting you tutor up Hidden Strings by discarding excess two drops, or dig for creatures (particularly Nivmagus Elemental) by discarding tricks. Tutoring up Agent/Xathrid Necromancer (using the other) is also very powerful, as against control you'd love Necromancer whereas against GR/Monoblue Agent of Fates isn't really beatable if you can protect it (and MonoBlue can't even really kill it).
Also triggering Inspired in that deck isn't backbreaking between Tactics, Springleaf, Strings and just plain attacking. But I do agree you can play this card outside of Heroic too. I'm looking forward to jamming into UB decks and seeing what happens.
I think the Tethmos High Priest interaction is a bit too deep. You can't be caught fooling around in your 4 Mana Confluence toolbox for too long, lest the Cacklers start showing up.
I think we will soon experience the Dawn of a new Toolbox-Era, as this might seem more demanding but is also cheaper and way more versatile than Birthing Pod, you can even use Fuse cards to increase its tutoring range dramatically.
I really like the direction this build is going! Have you considered Dakra Mystic or Scavenging Ooze? Also, do the singleton triton tactics and boon of erebos make sense since they aren't tutorable?

Lastly this goes into Rogues.deck pretty handily, with Bane Alley Broker and Deathcult Rogue (okay maybe not the last one).
Sadly, that is probably the best 2 card "combo" right now.
