I think the siren is good. Playable in mono blue devotion. Its stil a one mana blue flyier. Might get them to play nyxthos again to sometimes just get people with it out of nowhere.
there are a lot of ways to get stupid amounts of mana in standard atm. Its just you have to have a way to win when you have there turn.
I actually really like the Siren. One mana fliers are great in the blue deck, and getting to seven mana isn't a big deal with Nykthos. Remember that the creature you steal gets +1/+1 and flying which is huge. It's kind of like a split card, neither mode is awesome but having both reasonable options is good.
Imagine the mirror mono-blue matchups with that siren.
Symbols bein' thrown around errywhere
In seriousness, I don't know how the siren will pan out. Mono-blue already has good options for the 1-drop flyer slot, but the thought of Nykthos into its mind-control is definitely tantalizing. Maybe a 1 or 2 of?
I think siren is relevant for another reason, being a tick towards MUD's survival after the rotation as cloudfin and judge's familiar will both be going.
Let's be honest, Cloudfin Raptor is lucky to evolve more than once (on average). Hypnotic Siren is always 1-power, and unlike Raptor, it's better* if topdecked late game.
How is Siren not good? Good in the very early game, amazing in the very late game. Adds devotion. Flies. What are people missing?
Oh sure it'll get hucked into the MUD decks. But like, it will have zilcho impact. It's like how ultimate price and doom blade alternate as the main deck cheap removal of choice week to week. Yes, it makes blue decks 0.001% more effective due to the meta option, but it's not like going to enable an archetype or improve anything dramatically (or even noticeably).
Spirit Away doesn't see much play and that's a better aura, unless the 1/1 creature is that much of a lure?
Spirit Away is not Standard-legal. The fact that Siren is both a one-drop and a seven-drop makes it much better than Spirit Away. I don't know if that's enough to make it relevant in Standard, but a split card with Flying Men and Spirit Away certainly isn't the worst thing you could play.
Yeah, the card throws two decent cards together into one, with an option. If you drew spirit away in your opening hand, you wouldn't be too happy. And if you drew flying men while facing down some giant creature, it wouldn't help too much either. This card offers a lot of versatility which i like.
Honestly i prefer Worst Fears. Very flavorful card, and controlling turns are always fun. The Sirin costs one less, but once you get to control their turn, you can open them up and make some devestatingly bad choices for them to win you the game the next turn.
Though if they are already in the lead by far, the Siren might have more opportunity to change the game state than Worst fears, depending on what deck you're playing against.

Whats the big deal about black lotus you ask? Well you see, there is no big deal about it. It IS the big deal.

Fair enough, I suppose the options it provides makes it more attractive than Spirit Away. Still don't think it will have an impact but I won't be so quick to dismiss it until we can play test it.
If you understand that not all cards are made for Standard, then why are you griping about these cards in a standard forum as if you expected them to be for Standard?
I don't know about you all, but I'm probably going to play Worst Fears in a BUG ramp deck, using Astral Cornucopia and maybe the new Dictate of Karametra. Great way to screw with my opponent early or to stabilize in the mid- to late-game. Might include Hypnotic Siren, too, to make a "What's mine is yours" deck.

I think the Siren is solid. Judge's Familiar and Cloudfin Raptor are rotating out with RTR, Monoblue Devotion will need other options.
The best use I can think of for Worst Fears is with Chandra's ultimate, if you can use careful scrying to make it on top of the library at the right time.

Neither of them are any good of course. But quite fun nevertheless.

Limited, on the other hand... TOTAL BOMB.
Yes but this is the Standard forum.
*duh*
I will play Worst Fears. As someone who plays to obfuscate the meta, troll net-deckers, and get a laugh, it's perfect for me.
