While I agree that it's a great card for a wide variety of decks, don't understimate the Scry off of the Temples and the match-ups (Aggro, Burn), where losing more life to a greedy mana base actually matters.
Yes, life is a ressource in Magic and yes, color screw can happen quite often and be quite deadly, but this still doesn't make this a card that you're going to happily jam 4 of in every deck you build for the next 1,5 years.
When a lot of people start building extremely greedy mana bases with lots of self-inflicted damage and almost no basics, some players will pounce on that with Aggro and Burn decks and cards like Burning Earth out of the sideboard.
good thing most of us are statingnthe support it gives for aggressive decka then. The scry lands are fine in slower decks, but hyper aggro needs a fast mana base to kill quickly.
This is going to be another $120 playset of lands.
I doubt it. Modern already has City of Brass. It doesn't need this. Legacy CERTAINLY doesn't need this.
I'm guessing $15 a pop.
The difference is this will be easier to get a hold of than City of Brass. I expect it to stay at $20 for a long time. On top of that the foil art is awesome. Foils for this thing is going to be sky high. EDH also loves this card to death and goes into every EDH deck possible. There will be plenty of demand for this to maintain its price tag.
This is exactly my thought. Not only that, city has been reprinted a multitude of times. Oh and decks can run urborg with this over city to shut off the life loss is kind of cool.

Something to point out is City of Brass deals damage to you each time it is tapped. This card has it as a price to activate its mana ability. So Mana Confluence does have a minor upgrade.
That said, once this card is out of standard I don't expect this card's price to stay down.
You could argue the same thing for people shocking themselves with shock lands and Thoughtsieze.
Their are strategies that can alleviate a Gut Shot. That said, it could give mono-color decks easier access to fuse cards that are currently in standard such as Far // Away and Toil // Trouble as examples for mono-black.
I think it obviously has utility in aggro decks that splash for a second color (ie, black aggro splashing red for Dreadbore and Spike Jester). To those decks, losing a turn is far worse than losing life. Also, 3-color decks like Naya Hexproof will get good use out of it.

They will be happy to capitalize on opponents lightning bolting themselves every three turns.
Won't do much good for the people running it, though...
