Red would have definitely been better. Fanatic of Mogis was already questionable due to not having a ton of red dev at any one time. A black one drop will not help that.
I was running 10 Mountains, 4 Shock, 4 Temple, 2 Gates and 3 mutavaults since with Dreadbore, Ragemonger, Kragma and Rakdos Return you never needed T1 black. Now that doesn't work as well.
So, with Minotaurs now getting a one drop in black, who thinks they can become viable in standard? While the Gnarled Scarhide can't stop other early aggro, a 2/1 on turn one is still decent, and with tribal support, he can get up to a 5/2 trample, haste for 0. Not too bad for an interesting R/B take on suicide black the Minotuar tribe is giving us. Curving out at 3 mana leaves us plenty of mana to Lightning Strike, Thoughtseize, or Dreadbore/Hero's Downfalls to make sure our hitting when they need to be. I personally wouldn't run Mogis, God of Slaughter, if I really wanted a 4 drop creature, I would go with Rakdos, Lord of Riots, though I think Rakdos's Return would better suit this decks needs.
I'm not sure that the Boros Reckoner would be a good fit, and while Boros Charm is fantastic, I wouldn't splash white for it. The Reckoner would demand three red mana in a two color deck, and crowd an already crowded, 3 mana slot. A slot that pumps our one and two drops, making them more effective (I.E. Ragemonger/Rageblood Shaman. In a format that's slowing down, three color mana bases don't sit well with me. While not a Minotaur, I feel both Legion Loyalist and Rakdos Cackler would easily find a comfortable home in this all out offensive deck, along with the obvious Mutavault. More one drops = more fun.
Let me put it this way: Reckoner is the reason to run this deck at all. He is by far the most powerful minotaur in standard, and provides a hearty punch to the deck. You want a lot of red mana symbols for Fanatic of Mogis anyways, so having access to a triple red super threat is very good. Black would be more of the splash color than anything in an ideal build.
What do we think of the new minotaur? One drop, great. Bestow for mid-game mass removal and general targeted removal, great. Crucial top deck spot.. EEHHH. He is free to cast with a Ragemonger on board, mildly worth noting.
Another thing to consider is that we can actually run some number of Godless Shrine so we have a land that can tap for B on turn 1 for the new 1 drop and can tap for W for reckoner later on.
I see the Reckoner as a better fit in a mid range deck. I'm envisioning a deck that wants to kill you with it's creatures before you have time to stabilize, using it's burn and removal in an attempt to keep your opponents off the field. I do value the Reckoner, but with not way to do overwhelming damage to him, he has lost a lot of value in an aggro deck. While he's still powerful, I feel like the other 3 drops offer more value for an all out aggressive deck. And while Boros Charm does offer a lot of value to aggro decks, I would want my mana base to be as smooth as possible, and I would want to run a low land count, which is not intuitive to three color decks with out the color fixing mana bases other formats. This is all just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
I actually don't think the deck quite has the chops yet for a fast kill. It's more about using the low end of the curve to disrupt the opponents plan, then plowing them down with a ragemonger fueled alpha strike. Although, even in an aggressive build I still like Reckoner. 3 for 3 with a hell of a text box.
We'll see after the full nyx spoil, though. We're getting close to a more aggro oriented version, if people choose to play it as such.
I have been playing minotaurs quite a bit lately and from my point of view the deck works better as midrange than aggro, using the first two turns for duress/thoughtseize/lightning strike etc.
I'll test the new minotaur but I don't think it's going to be what makes this deck competitive. i'd rather duress supreme verdict out of my opponent's hand than having a 2/1 on field

Blood Crypt does the same. It can tap for B for that one-armed bull and can tap for R for Mr. Reckoner. Sticking with RB give Minotaur decks more consistency.

In an ideal world we could run as many Blood Crypts as we want to, but because there's a limit to how many you're allowed, running some Godless Shrines allows your mana base to cast Reckoner more often. It's very similar to how last format's RG aggro deck ran two Temple Gardens so they could cast Reckoner more consistently.
Deathtouch + Trample is appealing I'll grant you but I'm not sold on Felhide Petrifier just yet. It's another lord which is cool, and if he also granted +1/+1 it would be an auto-include but as is I'm not sure he's what you want to drop turn 3.

I was playing RDW rakdos and did fairly well in the past two expansions.
Sideboard suggestion for you trollnest
2 Slaughter Games
3 Rakdos Return(I would put this in for thoughtseize)
3 Doom blade
3 Dark Betrayal
2 Immortal Servitude
I think minos will be outgunned in JOU. Sticking to the theme is fun, but its probably not going to get there vs what the aggro/midrange red or black or rakdos decks already do.
This is the deck I'm tooling around with atm. Haven't entirely settled on a sideboard yet but I have found in my limited testing that Cackler ends up pulling its weight due to speed more than Mutavault does as a "1 drop" and that Whip and Twinflame give you some late game finisher capabilities the deck otherwise lacks due to having your hand empty.
I considered running Chandra or Erebos in the 4 drop slot for card draw but ultimately they just didn't end up pulling their weight.
