Round 1: 2/1
GWr Midrange
Full of Whisperwood Elementals, Atarkas, and Ugin. This deck was piloted by a very high caliber player, and was well built. He wasn't expecting mono black, and because of that, Mogis's Marauder won me two of those games with an overwhelming board state.
Round 2: 2/1
Mardu Midrange
This became a race all three games, as Butcher of the Horde can be a game changer. However, he isn't enough when you're swinging for 16+ damage a turn, due to obelisk.
Round 3: 2/0
UR Dragons
I didn't see much from this list other than it was a UR control deck with a few dragons.
Round 4: 2/1
Red Deck Wins
This was piloted by a buddy of mine. He saw a few denizens and dragon fodders but it seemed I always was able to have a bile blight to respond. The last game I won, he accidentally kept a 1 land hand and never drew his second land.
Round 5: 2/1
Mono White Midrange
This was piloted by my friend, who lent me mono black. He was playing Mastery of the Unseen, as well as Ajani Pridemate and Nyx-Fleece Ram and got me down to 3 on our last game. However, I supplied a never end of blockers from strike leader and dropped 2 obelisks for the win.
After playing the tournament, I was stoked about playing mono black. The deck was extremely fast and very hard to deal with or race. Every time I dropped Obelisk of Urd I won. I immediately started brewing my own list, as a few cards felt underwhelming (namely Sligumar Assassin). The below list is what I've come down to:
MainDeck 60cards
Creatures 28
4 Bloodsoaked Champion
4 Mardu Shadowspear
4 Mardu Strike Leader
4 Mogis Marauder
4 Tormented Hero
4 Pain Seer
3 Ruthless Ripper
1 Silumgar Assassin
4 Bile Blight
4 Hero's Downfall
Artifacts 2
4 Obelisk of Urd
Lands 22
22 Swamp

4 Blood-Chin Rager

21 Swamp
1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
Minister is crazy good versus token strategies as well as has no disadvantage when coupled with Blood-Soaked Champion or strike leader tokens.
I chose ulcerate over Hero's Downfall for tempo reasons.
I'll keep posting results and changes as time goes on, but this has been an absolute blast to play! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
