Ranger, how often did yisan work compared to getting taken out?
Yisan only ever got played in one game. Afterward I never drew him game one, and I boarded him out afterward. I'll probably actually put in an Elvish Mystic, though, and keep Yisan.

I guess I meant spot removal on him, compared to using his ability. Did he work?
Oh, the one game where I played him, I went turn 2 Caryatid, turn 3 Polukranos, turn 4 Prophet then on my opponent's turn Yisan.
On my turn 5 I activated Yisan for nothing, then his turn for Kiora's Follower.
On my turn 6 I went Yisan for 3, untap him, use him for 4. Got Courser of Kruphix, and Nylea. On his turn I went for 5 and 6, getting Arbor Colossus and Sagu Mauler.
On my turn 7 I got Hornet Queen. My board at this point is:
6 lands
Sylvan Caryatid
Kiora's Follower
Courser of Kruphix
Yisan the Wanderer Bard
Polukranos, World Eater
Nylea, God of the Hunt
Arbor Colossus
Prophet of Kruphix
Sagu Mauler
Hornet Queen
And I still had 3 cards in hand. It worked pretty well.
I think Yisan is actually a pretty sneaky play in this deck, thanks for mentioning him and your results. Ive been running Constellation Wealth, but Yisan intrigued me so I tried 3 of him, and it was pretty sweet! Here is that list. It is pretty much all in shoot for the combo/engine with only Brain Maggot as disruption, but I dont know what to drop in numbers for something like Hero's Downfall or Sultai Charm- I really feel like x4 of both Impersonator and Eidolon are important, despite or maybe especially because of Yisan. With dictate in play I've managed to play 5 Eidolons in one turn, each one drawing me more cards (I drew into 3 more). Yisan can tutor an enchantment creature and draw me a card too. Pretty boss I think
Hmm, this is really interesting. Share your results asap? Still don't like Mystics. Could be another teo Maggots and a Queen main?
good point about the maggots and queen. I have the mystics in there for early ramp, but really for Yisan's first target. I need to test this new list, probably tomorrow.
Ok took this to fnm tonight.
Game 1 played against mono red speed weenie horde. Wealth for 9 wealth for 22. Ended both games.
Game 2 white green heroic. It was just to fast. No chance killed both games.
Game 3 bye
Game 4 random blue stuff. Wealth for 32 rd 1. Game Round 2 he just got killed by trampling 2 arbor collussus and a 13 point genesis hydra that brought a polukranos with it.
So the concern at least for me is very fast decks. Opinions on what the battle plan should be?
I ran a more u/b control oriented Wealth deck at FNM with massive removal since I do not have the Caryatid's and Coursers and did ok with an untested list. For you tyrion I'd add Kiora to the SB for Heroic decks. Getting protection from their voltron dude is pretty amazing as it is unlikely that they would pop god's willing or the khans pro color card on Kiora and let you block their dudes the following turn. My 2 cents.
So the concern at least for me is very fast decks. Opinions on what the battle plan should be?
Yeah I think Kiora is a great option for the SB for this deck I would probably drop a couple Sultai Charm from the SB for two of her. When I think of Sultai Charm I think about 80% of the time I would be using it to kill a creature and Kiora has a similar +1 effect and I think her -1 effect has a significant advantage over draw 2 discard 1.
Changed the deck again. Finally took Phenax out of the main along with Prophet and moved them to the side. Also took out an Ascendancy and put back in all four of the Eidolon of Blossoms (yes, I played it at 61 cards tonight...). I think that was exactly what the deck needed and I ended up winning FNM tonight, only dropping one game and that was due to a poor decision on my part.
Round 1 - Beat GB Devotion 2-0. Wealth for 30 game one and just overran him game 2.
Round 2 - Abzan/Constellation. Very nice build. Lost my only game tonight to this one. Game 1, rolled him with a Wealth for 7 that wiped his board. Game 2, very poor start. Mulligan to 6 and kept a 2-lander with only 4 drops in hand. He got a good start but I managed to stabilize at 6 life after casting a Polukranos. Couple turns later, he has a Brain Maggot with my Wealth under it and a Siege Rhino and a couple other creatures. Plays an Elspeth and creates tokens. I'm able to monstrous Polukranos for 14 to wipe his board. Here was the mistake... I should have just monstroused enough to kill the Brain Maggot and gotten my Wealth and cast Wealth for 25 and used his own deck to gain life and wipe his board. Instead, after clearing his board and taking out Elspeth with an attack, he casts 2 Siege Rhinos to kill me. Rolled him game 3, curving out perfectly.
Round 3 - Esper control. Not even close. Game 1 I overload the board and attack for several hundred. Game 2, he boards in all the board wipes and hand control, and I stick and early Ascendancy, so that the turn after he cast End Hostilities, I still cast a Polu and a Courser and attacked for 7. Not even close.
Round 4 - Drew into the win and he didn't want to play for the extra. It was a big red deck with a lot of flyers and direct damage (Purphoros/Rabblemaster/Hordling Outburst, etc...). I think he would have won game 1, but I would have a good shot games 2 and 3.
I just posted my list, and now am discovering that this is basically the same thing. Temur Ascendancy combo
So Temur Ascendancy plus big creatures plus Eidolon of Blossoms plus big ramp = lots of mana, lots of creatures, attack and win. This is basically the same thing but with black for Villainous Wealth. I wonder what you think of the potential consistency and power of each approach. I mean aside from the obvious fact that this list is mature and mine is fledgling.

Yeah, this engine is just so powerful. Not sure why its not dominating. In one match last night, I literally played over 20 cards in one turn! I got all my Eidolons out and was hitting enchantments, Acolytes, Followers, it was awesome! I played all four Colossus (Colossi?) and monstroused them, wiped his board with a large Polukranos monstrousity, and used the Hydras to pull everything out of my deck and swung for well over a hundred. He scooped, so we never counted it up... I wasn't being a dick, he was interested in the deck and wanted to see what it could do.
About your deck, it's a little clunky, but I can see what you are trying to do. First off, max your Acolytes and Hydras. The Hydras give you a free uncounterable permanent that can swing the game. The Acolytes, if they can tap, will win you the game. Next, you want to max your outlets for all the mana. Nothing worse than having a ton of mana and nothing to do with it. In this deck, we have:
2 Polukranos monstrous abilities
4 Arbor Colossus monstrous abilities
4 Villainous Wealth (just play this card, it is amazing...)
4 Genesis Hydra
1 Nylea (don't underestimate her pump)
That's a quarter of my deck that let's me abuse large amounts of mana.
And thanks for the 'mature' comment. Been building this deck for a couple months now and it still amazes me.
So Ive taken your OP list out to solitaire a bit, and tweaked it just slightly. It it a pretty smooth deck (yours is) and my adjustments seem to not shake that up
All I did was bring it to 60 by
-1 Arbor Colossus
-1 Kiora's Follower (if we count Follower as Nykthos 5-8 (bear with me lol) then most of the time playing a second Nykthos is better because we net more mana from it. I appreciate that it also untaps Acolyte too, which is boss, but I feel 3 is ok)
-------
+1 Temur Ascendancy
I want to smush 4 Clever Impersonator's in here, because they are amazing in this deck. Ascendancy out? copy your Acolyte. Need more draw? copy Eidolon, or even Ascendancy. Need more devotion, copy your colossus. It is 5-8 of every creature in the deck- and all of the opponent's as well. Copy their Elspeth, Sarkhan, Siege Rhino, Sorin, etc.
I love all the work youve put into this, and I like the blending of your list and the constellation list Ive been obsessing over. Ive attempted to have a transformation sideboard into my Sultai constellation wealth list
Interesting... I do like the Impersonator. I would just keep him at two, however, because there are times he is not good (after a board wipe). I would leave Colossus at 3 and Hydra at 4, since you can't copy his cast ability. The only other drawback to him is he is double blue to cast, so there may be times you can't cast him on curve.

I agree, two is ok in this list, but I think ima go 3. He can copy things after a board wipe though, Walkers, or Enchantments, artifacts, you name it 3 colossus is good too though. Im testing a list with Hydra Broodmasters and 2 nylea. Mana dumping into one of theose with ascendancy and a trample provider seems so sweet, albiet winmor. All we need is enough mana to make 4/4s and we draw a bunch of cards, then trample through
I like the versions in this list more, but I figure it can't hurt to cross reference against one of the best brewers in the game.
I've seen many variants of that list, the "control" list. My constellation list is pure combo and the lists in this thread are basically monogreen devo splash rbu lol. One thing for sure, acolyte is sweeter than I first thought. It all depends on how you like to play. Control, Beatdown or Combo.
Looks like a fun list. Surely not as consistent as the versions that use not only creatures which curve out favorable without any legwork (polukranos, colossus) but also sink mana in a way which immediately effects the board regardless of removal/counters (genesis hydra)... but it's hard to have more fun than when unleashing a horde of hydras on unsuspecting foes
I'm still learning to use Acolyte correctly, I think. Genesis Hydra can be a little lackluster, but even at his worst he gets some work done.. and at his best, he's just backbreaking.
Ashk'rya, consider Garruk's Packleader over Surrak. He's not flash and uncounterable, but he'll be drawing cards once you get a Broodmaster or a Wealth out.

Oh nice! I didnt remember that Packleader was legal again. The main thing about Surrak here is trample, and hi and Nylea providing trample overlap. Thanks for the suggestion, I might go toy with packleader in a new list
Two cards that people just have not realized how powerful they truly are, in the right deck, are Villainous Wealth and Temur Ascendancy. Guess what? This is the right deck! Hmm, make that three cards. That Acolyte is just stupid good!
Btw, I tested Packleader early on. Not quite worth replacing anything in this list. And with the Eidolons and Ascendancys main, there is ample card draw already.
I also think that running cards like Surrak, Broodmaster and Hornet Queen all put this deck in a seriously bad position against fast aggro decks. 5cc should be the absolute top end of the deck main. There are enough cards to make use of the extra mana without increasing the curve. Once we know what we are up against, then we can bring in the higher cc cards.
I agree. Packleader is simply better than Surrak here, but i dropped both. Interesting (completely untested) idea if you really want to Wealth every game: add Disciple of Deceit. Around turn 4 you can attack with Disciple, untap with Kiora's Follower, discard let's say a Courser, fetch a Villainous Wealth. Turn 5 you can nail them to the wall with it.
A sequence I'm very fond of:
T2 Follower,
T3 Ascendancy,
T4 Acolyte, tap Acolyte for 3, play boon satyr (draw), and you still have follower available to tap for 5.
T5, tap for 18+. Well probably they killed your Acolyte, but still you have big creatures on board and extra cards in hand.
(Play your second Acolyte and a VW).
