hmmm loving esper right now feels like baneslayer era again.... sike but (rez angel) run 1 main 1 board try it out^^ 3 sorins 3 elspeths 1 ashiok main solid legit package o.0 super tech out board 2 liliana + erebos~god~ + SOUL OF THEROS^^^
tried out font of fortunes in this build... It feels absolutely horrible
Even tho we lack a turn 2 play, we don't want a Turn 2 play.
9/10 times if you hold 2 temples and a fetch/basic, you want to go temple temple basic. The occasion being holding a bile blight and expecting a play like rabble master.
Not to mention playing font screws up our temple into T2 thoughtseize/despise.
with 12 temples i feel our early draws are smooth enough. If we are wanting a turn 2 play, last breath and additional bile blights feel 100s more appropriate
Funny you should mention Resolute Archangel. None of the pro's are playing it that play Esper, but I play a 1 of and it's saved me so many times. I think the idea is that Sorin is supposed to be the lifegain engine (which it is), but I just think the angel is too good to not play. I'm sure there's a good reason why it doesn't see pro play but I haven't figured it out.
I'm playing Esper too. What are your thoughts on Sorin? I really don't like it in our deck.
Thoughts?
Sorin + Elspeth is great but honestly it seems to fragile to me. The opponent rarely lets both walkers survive. I'm not sure what replaces him unfortunately.
This list looks like it folds to any strategy using burn, which is quite a bit of the Meta. You need more lifegain in the deck other than 2x Murk Lurkers IMO. You have pain lands, fetchlands and Thoughtseize, not to mention you might not curve out a lot due to having 12 temples.
At the moment I'm running the following list, no Sorins there. Instead opting for a more extensive and varied removal suite. I'm getting decent results so far. Thoughts?
I'm currently debating to switch the two Banishing Light for the third Ashiok (I think it's brilliant in the meta) and maybe Resolute Archangel or the 4th Dig Through Time. What do you guys/girls think?
To me, Banishing Light is just worse than Utter End in this deck. Utter End is instant speed and the 3 drop spot is already filled up with Dissolve and Hero's Downfall. Those are what we want to be playing turn 3 or 4, so the extra cost of Utter End doesn't really hinder us. Plus it keeps it permanently gone, especially with Erase in a lot of sideboards. I would add the third Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and a fourth Dig Through Time. Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver has been really strong for me. I feel 3 is the right number of those. Dig Through Time is too powerful for this deck not to have 4 of them. I run 1 Sorin, Solemn Visitor. I always thought of him as an aggro/creature based strategy planeswalker, but after trying him out, I was impressed. He adds another dimension to the deck without taking anything away. I wouldn't want to run more than one, but I can understand running 2 or 3. I would consider adding more card draw. This deck 1 for 1's a lot, so you really need to get ahead on cards. I run Font of Fortunes. A lot of people don't like them, but I've had a lot of success with them.

I have been playing a Jeskai control deck I really enjoy. I have taken the framework of that, dropped red, and added black. The idea/goal is to have a deck that plays really consistently. I think that adding the proactive control of black is the best way of doing that. How does this deck look?
I know the deck doesn't have any Planeswalkers, but I really have liked my Jeskai deck without them. The idea is to deny, deny, flash in PLA, beat down, win. I have really liked the sheep. I think the go along way to stabilize the early game.
honestly UB will be number one but i see esper right there with it. UW will fade.... drown in sorrow basically the card for esper/ UB i will stick with esper loving 3 sorin 3 elspeth 2 ashiok main right now.. hard to say.. UB dragon = the downfall of UW basically checks elspeth for days^^ but ill still win with mnine + sorin ;p and mill ur dragons
So far the only cards I am thinking of adding from Fates Reforged are Ugin, the Spirit Dragon as a 1-of, maybe a few Whisk Aways (doubtful), and replace the Sphinx's in the board with Silumgar, the Drifting Death. With all of the 2/x cards possibly running around Last Breath is starting to seem interesting to include as well.
Thoughts?

I'm not sure if i should just take my current standard deck or if i should jam in some FRF cards I'm wanting to use and play it untested :/
What would YOU guys do in this situation? I'm sure there are a bunch of people here that are in a similar position :/
atm I'm playing esper and aggro strategies **** me. Cards I'm wanting to play with are Reality shift, Neutralizing blast, and a 1 of ugin in replace of an elspeth (going down to 2).
should i just go 0 FRF cards? should i jus say **** it and hope for the best ?
Play what you think will be strongest. If you think FTR cards will up the power of your deck, then it may be worth the risk. Reality shift is interesting, as it combats the Abzan Aggro list extremely well, particularly Raksasha Deathdealer, and gives you some extra game against Whip decks (Sidisi being the big one, however even exiling a Hornet Queen is worthwhile). Neutralizing Blast is a good sideboard card, however I'm not sold on it being stronger than Disdainful Stroke. On the plus, it lets you deal with Deathdealer and Fleecemane Lion on parity, as well as dealing with Abzan Charm, Ascendancy, Jeskai Charm, and Mantis Rider. Stroke deals with a wider range of cards, however, but leaves you open to the less than 3 cmc spells. I feel Stroke is going to better, however. It's just better in the format. Negate shores up a significant portion of the other cards, and your removal should let you get trough the rest (Particularly if playing esper; you have Banishing Light at your disposal after all).
Further, you admit you have a bad time with aggro; you should probably look at shoring that up over making your deck even stronger against the rest. Reality Shift is cool and all, and Neutralizing Blast has a place, but if it doesn't help your aggro match-up any more, you will just be running into the same problem you are in. Food for thought.

Pressure Point / Glare of Heresy / End Hostilities / Banishing Light / Elspeth / Brimaz / Erase / Fated Retribution / Devouring Light / Nyx-Fleece Ram / Resolute Archangel are all valid reasons to be in U/W.

Late game, +, + into ultimate is pretty much gg against a majority of the field
IMHO, sorin should actually be coming down AFTER elspeth/sphinx/PLA unless you need the bat body to stall a turn or two

We aren't gaining much and some of our tougher matchups get even tougher.
The new 2 mana counterspell is good, but it's just to narrow to fix our problems against 2-3 drops
It does hit rakshasa and fleecemane which have always been a big problem for me if on T2/3, but idk. I feel like this isn't enough
The 2 mana blue instant exile is pretty nice too
But yeah, Crux of Fate shores up a lot of UB's issues, so splashing heavily for End Hostilities isn't necessary.

I think you should jam 3-4x of Jeskai Sage. Since you're a tap-out control deck, this card lets your stall until you can play Elspeth, Sun's Champion or Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver. I'd cut 1x Dissolve, as your mana has trouble sorting UU out, 1x End Hostilities, and maybe a Hero's Downfall?. It's hard to say.
Edit: Also, merged your thread over here.
Well that's just like, your opinion, man.
