Without playing with the Follower, I think it's great. Accelerating into 12 four-drops (if we count Shorecrasher protection as a 4-drop), while being somewhat relevant (at least more than Elvish Mystic or Caryatid) for revealing to Company, is exactly what this deck needs. There are also many megamorph, Shorecrasher pump, Thassa unblockable ability and Syren bestow manasinks so he isn't irrelevant anytime soon.
Yes, 4 Thassa is too much.
What do you guys think about the 4 Thassas, thats pretty much the only thing i can complain about.
I have yet to see how good Kioras follower is. But he must be better than Icefeather Aven or else he would play that one.
Frost Walker seems to be better than i thought.
I kinda liked seeing the frost walker in the list. Seeing how a lot of his early plays were kinda weak, the walker seemed like a decent way to get early damage in.
I dunno if I liked the follower over an icefeather aven but I tend to not listen to my own advice sometimes. the aven seems like it would be nice to pull cute tricks but I guess the follower could pull off cute stuff too
I really like the idea of Mirror Mockery as a dual purpose card to re-activate Master of Waves or to enchant the opponents creature to generate a blocker for it. I think its worth going 2/2 with Hypnotic Siren - thoughts on this and the rest of the deck?
Two things:
1. Quickling seems like a pretty awkward card to get off of collected company because if it's the only creature you hit you either can't play it or you'll be forced to return another creature you have at a bad time. It has potential against removal so it could be worth trying out, but I have never been impressed with the card. There just never seems to be a good time to cast it.
2. I like Omenspeaker over anticipate. You don't get to draw a card, but omenspeaker is a solid blocker that does a similar job to anticipate, adds to blue devotion, and can be hit from collected company.
Side board is still not figured out, but I imagine it'll consist of 4 of encase in ice and the remaining 2 mirror mockerys. I'm thinking about a couple hornet nests as well against red. Not quite sure what else to include.
Fair point on the quickling thing... but I'd prefer the anticipate personally, because I like having the extra card. I feel like chances are having that extra card will be better than the Omenspeaker sitting on the board anyways. I suppose it is more of a personal preference, as I doubt there is really any way to know if one is strictly better over the other.
Really learning alot from the pro's and Nick Peternell in their versons of Ug devotion
I don't know I still don't like Frost walker. I prefer icefeather aven in that slot more. I think in the long run it has a better clock then the Frost walker. It blocks all the 1/1 creatures.
Nick's list did not run Deathmist raptor I think that is a mistake. I believe that it will get added in the future. It is too good with collected company and morphs in this deck.
Nick's list did not have any main deck counter spells. After watching the Nick Brad and CVM play with the deck. It seemed like they were afraid to play Silumgar sorcerer as a 2/1 flying creature because it was their main counterspell. I have been playing with dissolves for a while, which has allow for more aggressive plays with the Silumgar sorcerer. Currently toying with the idea of switch dissovles for Thassa's Rebuff.
I think you seriously undervalue Frostwalker. It has a way better clock than Icefeather Aven against control and is a solid beater against most midrange decks too. I don't think this deck wants to be on the defense all that often so I don't see the need for aven. The morph is a bit too costly for my tastes too, but it is nice to have some psuedo-removal available to the deck. However, I feel like counterspells or Silumgar Sorcerer are better forms of interaction than expensive morphs.
Thassa's Rebuff looks really bad to me. You'll need at least a Sorcerer or Shorecrasher Elemental out to make it strong enough. I suppose if you play Hypnotic Siren and some two drops you could get there with it, it's probably worth the playtest at least.
Speaking of Siren, I have never been impressed with that card. It's usually just a 1/1 flying that adds one blue devotion, which can be decent at times but I don't think maximizes the potential value of the deck. Seven mana is quite pricey, heck even 6 mana with Kiora's Follower seems like way too much. I could see it's potential against dragons like you mentioned so sideboard could be a fine place for it.
I completely agree with you on Thassa. 4 is way too much especially considering he's playing collected company too.

When I have played frost walker its ability to pressure a opponents life total is underwhelming except in control match ups. In mid most range matchups, i am really lucky to get a swing in with the frost walker. This is due to the lack of removal our deck has. We can't push it through with Thassa, God of the Sea. Once an opponent resolves a blocker, i am forced into mediocre trades or had it sit back as a fragile devotion counter. Just looking at the matchups. Its great against Control. Abzan charm and Dromoka's command blow it out. Terrible against tokens and red decks. It is mediocre against whip decks [will be used as fodder for trades not great for this match up]. Its mediocre against Megamorph (see whip decks). Solid against GR dragons it trades with everything or eats a burn.
I am not saying the Icefeather aven is much better in all of these matchup's but I think its a better clock due to flying. Also against the "harder" matchups. It is better. It avoids more removal than frost walker thus a better devotion enabler. It can bring back deathmist raptor. It can be an encase of emergency bounce creature. It is a creature that can be used to bluff.
Just for context here is my deck as it stands now.
I took one Hypnotic Siren and Thassa out and swapped them for two Deathmist Raptors. I also replaced one Thornwood Falls with a Forest to ensure an untapped green source. I'm been getting hosed down in two events now but I feel that the deck's just uncooperative. Light night was 1-3 but the deck made the opponents earn their wins as all games went long.
I only run 1 thassa but have 4 deathmist and the deathmist are amazing the ability to to come right back to play and have deathtouch just frustrates opponents.

Okay. So, after seeing the SCG's decklist, I went out and bought the deck, as is. I love UG and was running Mono-Green Devotion with blue for Prophet of Kruphix and Kiora's Follower. After seeing this, and how it plays, I wanted in.
I know there's a debate over Thassa and Siren. I'm actually okay with 4 Siren, but I do agree with the 1 less Thassa in the main. I've also seen the options to replace those two. Right now I'm running the list from the SCG's tournament with one change: Bident of Thassa in place of 1 Thassa.
My question is more about the SB. I originally started with the stock SB. I listened to commentary and how he felt that he should be running Display of Dominance over Negate. I even went to mtgTop8.com and looked at the ONLY other mono-blue devotion deck and took a look at some other SB options, like Singing Bell Strike and Hall of Triumph. I'm kind of in a fog when it comes to the SB and I need some advice. It feels like the whole thing is lacking removal.
I know, I know... Removal is tough with GU. In my Devotion to Simic deck worked real well with Ætherspouts and Setessan Tactics in the board. I wasn't sure if Tactics would be good with our mana. On one hand, it'd suck if you didn't have 1 green, (or 2 if you want to use multiple targets). On the other hand, 12/24 lands are GU. That's a 50% chance of hitting a Green out of each land you draw...
In addition to that, Tactics was really good when I had Hornet Queen or Polukranos in play... with a lot of 1/1's and 2/1 flyers in play, Tactics is like Lightning Strike. If Lightning Strike said "As an additional cost to play Lightning Strike, sacrifice a creature. Lightning Strike deals 3 damage to target creature."
I know I'm rambling, but I'm looking for some darn removal... and whenever I'm playing with Kiora's Follower I WANT to be running Tactics!
Anyway, Please help! My sideboard sucks!

From void evolved Phyrexia. Great Yawgmoth, Father of Machines, saw its perfection. Thus The Grand Evolution began. — Phyrexian Scriptures
Why not MD removal like Void Snare, Voyage's End, Reality Shift, Epic Confrontation, Setessan Tactics, or Savage Punch? Perhaps cut a Siren and a Thassa instead of that lone Bident. The GW Company list sports 6 removal spells which I've been trying to see if it's possible to port over.
Against what decks do you really need removal? What are your bad matchups? What are your worst cards in OK or even good matchups? Encrust is still standard legal if you are keeping Master/Thassa in. Encase in Ice seems great against R/G, but I am not even sure you need anything against them.
Took G1 by overwhelming him with Ensoul Springleaf Drum. Removal got the 5/5 a little bit too late because Thassa and a Master of Waves came to finish the job along with a flashed Silumgar Sorcerer. Lost G2 because I got mana screwed. G3 was a close one because while I resolved an Ensoul at T2, he quickly had removal and wiped the board clean with Ugin while I was unable to draw into my counter magic.
Match 2 (Rakdos Dragons) WIN
2-0
G1 was pretty much a beating because he was land screwed. G2 had a slow start but I was able to Ensoul 2 Darksteel Citadels for the W.
Match 3 (Abzan Control) WIN
2-1
I squeaked a win with G1. He was able to remove my early Ensouled Springleaf via Abzan Charm but I resolved 2 Frost Walkers. He made misplays when he refused to attack with 2 Siege Rhinos even as I was brought down to 6 life. I resolved an Ensoul on Darksteel Citadel with Thassa and a Hypnotic Siren in play. I swung in for exactly 11 damage which gave me the win. G2 was just a wipeout as he resolved Siege Rhinos and had removal for my Thassa and Ensouls. G3 was sweet because he was clearly on the control route and wanted to resolve an Elspeth. So he only held on to removal and went 1-for-1 my creatures. Thassa was on the board and some other evasive creatures which chipped at his life. When he finally got mana for Elspeth, he was met by a Disdainful Stroke and he scooped up.
I really swallowed my pride to play this version because I wanted to play with Simic Devotion. But I've been losing 3 events already with the deck so I decided to change things up and go with this. I haven't given up on Simic Devotion as a lot of you have claimed success in the deck. Perhaps I've been doing things wrong and will try to play better with it next time. Although I was able to test against Jeskai Aggro and another Jeskai brew. I still lost 60% of the time but I feel that the Simic Devotion deck was just acting up at times while I held up a pretty good showing in the games.
G1 was a long one. My Elemental tokens from Master of Waves kept on being wiped out by his main deck Anger of the Gods. I wasn't able to resolve a Thassa which prevented by Master from attacking. Was able to cast Kiora which prevented his Sarkhan-called dragon from doing any serious damage in the air. Thankfully, he wasn't able to resolve a Savage Knuckleblade early on. I eventually won when I resolved another Master of Waves and outmatched his board. G2 was just a wipeout as he curved out into a Knuckleblade early on while I was unable to resolve my spells in time. G3 was mana screw time for me.
I think I should have just gone: -3 Hypnotic Siren, -1 Stratus Dancer so I can block his early Savage Knuckleblades with Frost Walkers
Match 2 (Mardu Dragons) WIN
2-1
G1, the deck schooled Mardu with a curve into Thassa then Master of Waves. His removal suite was mostly red so unblockable creatures won the day. G2 was lost due to a misplay. I was unable to attack his Sorin which allowed him to ultimate. Then I resolved an Encase in Ice at the end step of opponent with Thassa as the only creature causing me to sacrifice her. Won G3 by sheer brute force with Thassa, Master of Waves and evasive creatures. Bident allowed me to draw so many cards. He was ready with a Crackling Doom at that time but I was able to blink out Shorecrasher Elemental to turn Thassa off and I got away with sacrificing just an Elemental.
SB: +3 Encase in Ice, +1 Disdainful Stroke, -2 Master of Waves, -2 Hypnotic Siren
Match 3 (Abzan Aggro) WIN
2-1
G1 was a loss. While he clocked my early Frost Walker with his Fleecemane Lion, he resolved a Surrak, the Hunt Caller and Siege Rhino and killed me in two turns. G2 was won when I was able to resolve my flying creatures, locked down his creatures with Encase, then hit with Thassa for the win. G3 was won because he was mana screwed.
SB (on the draw): +4 Encase in Ice, +2 Hornet Nest, +2 AEtherspouts; -4 Master of Waves, -4 Frost Walker
SB (on the play): +4 Encase in Ice, +2 Hornet Nest; -2 Frost Walker, -4 Master of Waves
Match 4 (Atarka Red) WIN
2-0
My best friend and I got paired. We've been playing since kingdom come so he took an intentional loss. He knew a resolved Master of Waves would be just so much butt hurt and I said I wanted to points.
Kiora might be good for decks that don't go wide (Heroic or Midrange decks). The logic behind 23 lands was that Kiora lets you play an extra land and draws you a card. Bident is just to situations when you take to the air so your creatures can cause you to draw cards.
I'm still tottering on the sideboard plan. I feel 2 AEtherspouts might be too much and instead a second Negate should be there.
R1: UB Control W 2-0
R2: Abzan control W 2-1
R3: RG Dragons W 2-0
R4: Monogreen Atarka: W 2-1
with the same list to another day I played the PPTQ
R1: Abzan Megamorph L 1-2
R2: UW Control W 2-1
R3: atarka Red W 2-0
R4: RG Dragons W 2-0
R5: Sidisi Reanimeitor W 2-1
R6: Abzan Aggro: L 1-2
R7: if I won the round I classified the top 8 .. but : Esper Control L 1-2
in pptq I saw that Omenspeaker was a bad turn 2, only served vs monored.
I gave an opportunity to Hypnotic Siren, so I tried to let Ug devotion and retired Raptor and Den
also on the sideboard, I changed three nests by instant to help more vs Abzan
FNM 15/05
Deck(11 island)
R1: Jeskai tokens W 2-0
R2: RG Dragons W 2-1
R3: Naya Dragons W 2-0
R4: Atarka Red W 2-0
this time I was lucky that all my rivals, their removal were red, and the Master of the waves a feast was given in each round xDD
Two weeks ago I went 3-1 with Mono blue Round 1 Dromoka Aggro 2-1 , Round 2 Jeskai Tokens 2-1 , Temur Dragons 2-0, Atarka Red 1-2.
Last Week I went 4-0 Round 1 Jeskai Control 2-1, Round 2 Abzan Aggro 2-1,Round 3 Temur Dragons 2-0, Round 4 Mono Green Devotion 2-0
Both tournaments were played with the list below
Yesterday I cut a Bident for a 2nd Hall of Triumph and went 2-2 mostly from bad draws. Round 1 Jeskai Aggro 0-2, Round 2 Abzan Aggro 0-2, Round 3 Esper Control 2-0, Round 4 5 Color Dragons 2-0. Overall I don't like the 2nd hall so I cut the bident completely for a 3rd Omenspeaker.
I may test out Thassa's Rebuff over some of the Stratus Dancers and Silumgar Sorcerers, but the deck has performed well. I feel the sideboard needs tweaking, I want to cut 1 of the faithful and maybe a negate for Staff of the Mind Magus or just something to survive against Burn and other fast decks. I absolutely love the Icefall Regent in the deck as it has tapped down Rhinos, Atarkas, and all other sorts of annoying creatures.
The Side is missing two cards, would add two Wall of Frost, and the prescence of Pearl Lake Ancient, I think a very good idea, as our worst match is ESPER...
And remember, tomorrow you have to go find the beautiful frost walker
It not like i want to sac a Shorecrasher or active Thassa to the Profaner.
Yeah i can Sac the Profaner, but that comes with another Blowout potential.
Whatever there is missing, but it has to have high Toughness.

Thassa wouldn't be too bad if you have an extra one in your hand to cast afterwards. Otherwise, either the Profaner itself or Kiora's Follower would be reasonable, depending on what you need to get rid of.

I have been very down on hypnotic siren. However, after watching CVM play with and crush mardu dragons. i think I will find a way to add it to the sideboard.

I suggest people read Nick's tournament guide. In the comments there is a sideboard plan.

Thassa's Rebuff looks really bad to me. You'll need at least a Sorcerer or Shorecrasher Elemental out to make it strong enough. I suppose if you play Hypnotic Siren and some two drops you could get there with it, it's probably worth the playtest at least.

Curse of the Swine had some utility against really nasty things. You could even run Curse, Setessan Tactics and Battlefield Thurmaturge as a package. Hour of Need might be too deep though.
Icefeather Aven works with the morph theme as well.

Deck (11 island):
R1: UB Control W 2-0
R2: Abzan control W 2-1
R3: RG Dragons W 2-0
R4: Monogreen Atarka: W 2-1
with the same list to another day I played the PPTQ
R1: Abzan Megamorph L 1-2
R2: UW Control W 2-1
R3: atarka Red W 2-0
R4: RG Dragons W 2-0
R5: Sidisi Reanimeitor W 2-1
R6: Abzan Aggro: L 1-2
R7: if I won the round I classified the top 8 .. but : Esper Control L 1-2
in pptq I saw that Omenspeaker was a bad turn 2, only served vs monored.
I gave an opportunity to Hypnotic Siren, so I tried to let Ug devotion and retired Raptor and Den
also on the sideboard, I changed three nests by instant to help more vs Abzan
FNM 15/05
Deck(11 island)
R1: Jeskai tokens W 2-0
R2: RG Dragons W 2-1
R3: Naya Dragons W 2-0
R4: Atarka Red W 2-0
this time I was lucky that all my rivals, their removal were red, and the Master of the waves a feast was given in each round xDD
now I think I will play well

Two weeks ago I went 3-1 with Mono blue Round 1 Dromoka Aggro 2-1 , Round 2 Jeskai Tokens 2-1 , Temur Dragons 2-0, Atarka Red 1-2.
Last Week I went 4-0 Round 1 Jeskai Control 2-1, Round 2 Abzan Aggro 2-1,Round 3 Temur Dragons 2-0, Round 4 Mono Green Devotion 2-0
Both tournaments were played with the list below
22 Island
1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
Creatures 33
4 Hypnotic Siren
4 Triton Shorestalker
2 Frost walker
2 Omenspeaker
4 Shorecrasher Elemental
4 Stratus Dancer
4 Silumgar Sorcerer
4 Master of Waves
2 Icefall Regent
3 Thassa, God of the Sea
3 Bident of Thassa
1 Hall of Triumph
4 Sidisi's Faithful
2 Aetherspouts
3 Negate
2 Disdainful Stroke
2 Wall of Frost
2 Encase in Ice

Side
1 Omenspeaker
1 Pearl Lake Ancient
2 Profaner of the Dead
2 Encase in Ice
2 Stubborn Denial
3 Dissolve
2 Negate
The Side is missing two cards, would add two Wall of Frost, and the prescence of Pearl Lake Ancient, I think a very good idea, as our worst match is ESPER...
And remember, tomorrow you have to go find the beautiful frost walker
- 2 Profaner of the Dead
+ 2 Encase in Ice
Thassa wouldn't be too bad if you have an extra one in your hand to cast afterwards. Otherwise, either the Profaner itself or Kiora's Follower would be reasonable, depending on what you need to get rid of.
