So I assembled the list from the front page while i was at the prerelease (-1 Reaper of the Wilds, +1 Brimaz [ps, i suck at sealed]) and absolutely dominated in some matches against UWR control, 2 different UR Ensoul, and WB enchantments. Also beat a rtr/theros rb aggro deck a number of times.
the +1 brimaz, king of oreskos, -1 reaper of the wilds was a long time coming, in my opinion. reaper of the wilds is so much better on paper than it has ever been in my testing. there's never been a situation in my in-person or online testing where i was glad to have the reaper where a king of oreskos wouldn't have gotten the same mileage.
reaper is resilient, with minus utilit, but inmidrange atritction decks u need a tread. reap is hard to kill with minus utility but Indulment Tormentor is a THREAD. But costs , and way more fragile....
in my experience, it all definitely all of those things, but this deck doesn't seem to benefit from it all that much. rakshasa deathdealer just does what it does better most of the time.
on a different note, i just beat 2 variations of the mono-black aggro deck 10-2.
And I feel you on the budget pain. This deck is stupid expensive. Siege Rhino and Rakshasa Deathdealer are only rising in price though, so picking them up early is probably a good idea. You can feel as you play it though that each card is worth it.
Are you using Rakasha Deathdealer or Polukranos? Those are your 2 main factors in deciding wither or not to use Reaper. Think about the mana and CMC slots you have.
Currently I don't have any Deathdealers, I have 1 of Polukranos and 2 Reapers
I know this is going to sound really unlikely but I was just screwing around with a playset of Hornet Nest to see if I could get anywhere with it and it wasn't terrible. I mean, it's still bad against a deck running just Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker/Prognostic Sphinx/Stormbreath Dragon (no way to damage it yourself plus no way to give it reach or flying), but it's definitely swingy at times. I dunno, just wanted to throw that out there. If it had reach, I'd be a lot more excited about it.
What do you guys think of a deck with pain lands instead of scry lands, so the only lands that enter tapped are Sandsteppe Citadels. That essentially lets us throw things on the table a turn faster. Thoughts?

The scry lands help us stay more consistent. We have enough lands that come in untapped that having eight or nine that come in tapped is almost a non-issue. You can go ahead and try it out if you'd like, but you're giving up consistency (and a bit of life) for speed in a deck that doesn't necessarily want to play Siege Rhino on turn 3.
You're not playing enough sources of any of your colors. To cast Courser reliably (90% of the time) on turn 3, you need 19 sources of green. Bile Blight on turn 2 requires 20 sources of black, and Wingmate Roc on turn 5 needs 16 sources of white. Sylvan Caryatid helps this to some extent, but you should still play less basics and more multilands.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Despise/Thoughtseize t1 doesn't have a lot of urgency at the moment.
the lands have been cooperative with me in over a hundred games so far, but obviously your mileage may vary. i go back and forth regarding more or less mana confluence/temple of silence. i'd be open to suggestions regarding glaring errors in landmath if there are any experts here.
I've been doing a bit of testing lately and this is what I'm running at the moment.
the two most notable absences are courser of kruphix and elspeth
I know that courser is good, but first of all I don't really like showing to my opponent what I'm going to draw next. secondly it's a bit of a meta call: everyone is going to use it. so i prefer to run something that is going to go through it, namely rakshasa deathdealer and heir of the wilds
as for elspeth I can see how she is good, blowing up Temur and dropping blockers for Mardu, but I really like my garruk and my nissa...might change at some point

I'd play the heck out of this deck on cocatrice or this xmage thing, but sadly the budget's too harsh for my wallet.
