So I'm wondering to start off with do you think 22 land is enough to cast spells properly with the drums and servants for starters. What do you think of running paragon of fierce defiance or feast on the fallen instead of the obelisk, I mean convoke is giving me a headache trying to figure out when I'd cast them. Is the 8 or maybe 4 artifacts plus what kaboomist makes be enough to cast shrapnel blast when I need it? what are y'all thought on this...
Some things to think about with this kind of a deck...
Soul of Innistrad - Honestly, I think this is a really weak soul to play. As a 6/6 deathtoucher, it's ability is pretty much wasted because it's going to eat most creatures in combat, and if it ever goes up against something like a Soul of Shandalar, you'll just lose, along with it's ability being probably one of the weakest actually for the amount of mana. If you're looking for a giant creature to do lots of damage with the added bonus of haste, maybe try something like this...
Turn 2 - Generator Servant
Turn 3 - Sacrifice GS, play... Underworld Cerberus ; as a 5 mana creature, it allows for the Servant to ramp it out on turn 3 with it's 2 mana and it's also an extremely evasive creature to play and attack with. Most decks won't have enough blockers and if they do, you'll probably just end up eating all of them. Not to mention it dodges most of early removal in the form of Ultimate Price/Doom Blade, leaving Heroes as pretty much the long death blow dealer to it. Which I think is really good with a huge beater. And once it dies, you get Servant back to do it and maybe more next turn. Chaining together Servants could be pretty amusing too.
Also a bunch of the creatures you have are double color. And while it would be nice to play two creatures both with haste with the mana from Generator Servant, that won't happen most of the time until turn 4 because they're all 3 drops, and you'll need 4 lands plus the 2 colorless to take full advantage. Chances are it would of been better to just play a 3 drop turn 3 instead of waiting because it's like you're wasting a turn. Maybe look into something else to do with Servant. Like, maybe using some Unleash cards and Exava could be really good. Having some early plays in something like Rakdos Cackler will make the deck more aggressive and you could drop things like the Enforcer, because playing a one mana 2/2 that could have haste is better than a 2/2 for 3 that has a semi-relevant ability.
Wow, I hadn't even thought of underworld cerberus, he does basically the same thing as soul but also has "evasion" for one mana less, I'm definitely adding him. I'm also thinking about dropping archetype of aggression for paragon of fierce defiance because trample is good and all but I think I want more passive pump so kaboomist doesn't kill himself, plus the extra haste source might be useful and flailer loves pump. I'm still concerned about the land count though, like I have absolutely no experience with green ramping so I have no idea if 22 lands will work with drums and generator in the mix, although topping out with (probably) 5 mana though seems doable...
Okay, played a few games with this deck, I like it for the most part and 22 lands seems fine may try it with less just to see how far I can push it. I'm pondering running indulgent tormentor instead of cerberus for it's various possible effects including card draw. I want to start making the sideboard but the only thing I know I want is king macar, the gold-cursed to help kill big creatures that the burn can't handle but besides that I'm looking for general ideas of stuff to put in there until I get enough time to know what this deck is weak against.
Also Scuttling doom engine is too expensive for my taste ATM so if it goes down I'll see about buying or trading for it.
I wouldn't use Indulgent tormentor personally - in this deck it is impossible to get it out on turn 3.
Since he requires double black, and generator Servant needs at least 1 red - no possible way to get it turn 3.
He's also very easy to kill with only 3 toughness.
Underworld Cerberus is a majorly underrated card, it may as well be unblockable and even if it dies you at the very least get your generator servant back - many times you get more.
4 Obelisks is definitely too much in this build, but if you don't want to get Scuttling doom engine I can't think of any better replacement at the moment.
But If you want to run that many, I'd definitely recommend you abuse them as much as possible:
For that I recommend try going goblins:
*4x Paragon of Fierce defiance is overkill, 2 is enough (Replace with Scuttling doom engine when you can).
*You don't need that many Springleaf Drum's as you Kaboomist can get a steady supply of artifacts, and too many can be dead draws in certain situations.
* Hammer of Purphoros, No Idea Why everyone just seems to have forgotten about this card all of a sudden - it's arguably one of the best artifacts around.
Very aggressive deck that can put out fast and large threats, and You'll have an army of goblins that grows stronger with every turn.
Honestly 3 obelisks may still be too much, but I do love seeing big numbers...
