I feel like the best colors for slivers after M15 comes out would be WRG. Take a look and help me tweak the list? Venom Sliver does work with First/Double Strike and when Thorncaster comes down, it's like a Sliver board wipe. I figured one Aurelia could make it's way in as an agressive finisher, especially since she'll untap any slivers you used as mana to cast her, to swing in the second combat. Non-creature spells and lands are pretty self explanitory. Maybe too many Mutavaults? I'm not sure. Any input is appreciated.
I'm still going back and forth on the colors of my current Sliver deck, but I am going to try and find a way to use Nissa, Worldwaker + the Shocklands for the next 3 months. Also, I like having some number of Chord of Calling to pull Hivelord out if Manaweft gets murdered. Just my 2 cents, I'm very rusty with evaluating Standard.
Here is my current Sliver deck, effectively 5C. I'm not sure if I should go for more Slivers and just not worry about removal as much or keep the extra indestructible effects to handle Verdict better. Also, I'm thinking of paring down to either Naya or Bant.
I've been looking at Obelisk of Urd and Sentinel Sliver to help out. Sentinel to give Vigilance for Convoke synergy and Obelisk for better beatdown. I really like the Bant version over the Naya if I do pare down further, if only because Diffusion Sliver on T2 makes targeted removal slow down a lot.
I'm not sure on this next idea, but would it be worth going from 3/3 Boros Charm/Rootborn Defenses to 2/2/2 Ranger's Guile/Boros Charm/Rootborn Defenses? Ideally, the reason for this is to protect an early Manaweft Sliver against small scale removal. Usually Manaweft is key to an early Hivelord.
Thanks to Manaweft/Mana Confluence and Sliver Hive, this deck can keep hands it has no right to.
I'm working on a 5c buid with only Slivers and a couple Chord of Calling and it looks promising.
I am interested to see your build though, so please post it here when you get it made. I appreciate the feedback and the looks at your guys' decks. Keep it coming!!
Yeah, I don't think I would go 5c on the deck as I have Sliver Hive and Mana Confluence to make sure I can play Sliver Hivelord reliably and I feel that the slivers in the other colors don't really add anything that this build needs. The point of staying Naya is that it's way more aggressive. There are a lot of two mana slivers in here so if you play different ones instead of multiple copies, it should help againt Bile Blight and such in the early game. If I go aggressive, I have a much better chance of winning. I can also lean on the deathtouch/first strike trick I think I could maintain. Sliver Hivelord could theoretically come down turn 3 in this deck. Domri Rade and Signal the Clans also help out a lot to keep the Slivers out there. Thorncaster Sliver in conjunction with Venom Sliver is a boardwipe on the attack. So yeah, like I said, I feel like aggresive is definitely the way to go especially since limting your self to this strategy means you're more effciently gettting your colors and less non-sliver spells makes Sliver Hive that much better.
I think Chord of Calling is going to be better than Signal the Clans most of the time. It costs about the same amount of mana and always gets what you want.
Belligerent Sliver and Leeching Sliver are among the better aggressive slivers in standard. Belligerent Sliver allows you to push a lot of damage through and its pseudo evasion will be appreciated if you're going to forgo Galerider Sliver. Leeching Sliver is basically a cheaper Thorncaster Sliver. It's can't affect the board but its easier to get multiples on the field and they are awesome in multiples.
If you are going to play Sentinel Sliver, then it seems you should also play Galerider Sliver so you can "block everything" and attack every turn rather than only being able to block non-flying.
Obelisk of Urd is a bad card, Door of Destinies is a bad card. If you want something to beef up slivers that isn't a sliver itself you'd play Dictate of Heliod.
And just because you can play all 5 colors of slivers doesn't mean you should, the white slivers especially are weak. Sentinel Sliver is just bad, and Bonescythe is too expensive to run multiples of when his effect doesn't stack. The best colors for slivers are R/U/G when M15 drops, so you'd want to focus there like I intend to. Galerider, Predator, Diffusion, Blur, Belligerent, these are all really good slivers you always want one or more of. Venom is fine, but they don't stack so if you're playing a bunch of them you end up playing 1/1's for 2 mana and that's bad. Leeching is also excellent, but you don't just want a bunch of him either because he's actually weak, you want to drop that guy to finish the game with a bunch of other slivers on board.
Thorncaster while a good effect is again too expensive to play a bunch of, my plan once m15 is live is to jam a low curve, synergy aggro list of R/U/G slivers with Domri's to help find stuff.
I do too, don't get me wrong. But this style of card is weak where leech is on the mana curve. Casting a Leech sliver turns 2-3 is actually very lackluster against alot of the other turn 2 plays in the format. That's why I'd avoid running 4 of him, I'd much rather be casting Manaweft, Predator, or Diffusion on those turns. Leech on turn 4, like Hellrider after you've put guys on board each turn? Baller as heck.
I've been trying out one copy of Return to the Ranks to augment Ranger's Guile/Boros Charm/Rootborn Defenses in terms of surviving multiple board wipes. It seems ok with the plethora of 2-drop slivers, setting things back up for a quickly convoked Chord of Calling for Hivelord.
Chord of Calling really helps this deck out a lot. Whether it's to grab Hivelord to close out or to bypass a color lock from bad land luck, I can't see running less than 3 in this deck. Running all 4 is working well so far.
The benefit of Door of Destinies is that if they wipe your board, it keeps its counters, so your post wipe board will still be a threat, even if it's a two-drop.
