This is what I came up with for a flash deck with a minor budget. It is costing me around $55 to change my current standard deck into this more refined deck. The hexproof protects me vs burn and the indestructible for Supreme Verdict and other board wipes. What I end up with are 4/4-6/6 creatures with first strike, deathtouch, trample dealing a stupid amount of damage if they hit the board. Only thing that would worry my is esper control or U/W control. I can chump block with my dudes that can't die versus mono black and R/G monsters.
This is what I'm looking at fr a sideboard right now
It's not a very strong sideboard right now, but I don't know what to put into it unless I know what it is lacking vs other decks.
you can playtest it here http://www.mtgdeckbuilder.net/Decks/EditDeck/1217011 and you will find that it explodes at around turn 3-5. casting creatures on their turn is pretty sweet. Even if the Prophet of Kruphix is destroyed I made sure that the mana cost is low for what you get(ex: 2 mana for a 3/3)
I need some feedback on this deck that I will be taking to my standard tomorrow. I'm expecting to face R/G aggro, Esper control, U/B Mill, Black devotion and W/G tokens. If i do decently well I'll consider doing more in the future.
Here are the results of the four rounds of Swiss at the FNM
Match one: Bant control (0-2)
Ended up using supreme verdict before I got my Indestructible going. After that it was a face full of counters, and a drop with an Elspeth.
Match two: R/G monsters (0-2)
First game he got all the answers and I was choking on no white source. Rarely happens, but it does.
Second game I misplayed like no other. He dropped a Polukranos, World Eater and I then dropped my Elpeth and went +1 on her and kept his eater alive, then he ate my Prophet of Kruphix which slowed me down and then pumped his guy +4/+4 trample to kill Elspeth.
Match three: B/W weenies (2-1)
-Home Brew-
First game I had a slow start and he Tidebinder Mage two of my creatures and got in there with his thassa
Second game he got mana screwed not drawing into a blue source and I shut down his Heliod over running him
Third game was a close match but I got in there in the end with Prognostic Sphinx for the final win. I ended up misplaying a bunch so I ended up wining much later in the game...remember players...you can't naturalize a Thassa. -facepalm-
Match four: Mono black (2-0)
-This was a budget deck-
Game one he had a bunch of 1/1 deathtouch guys that slowed me down until I got indestructible and first strike rolling but he wasn't able to draw into a grey merchant and killed him off with first strike.
Game two: He had a great amount of mana and was able to play multiple things at once, however I was able to go off my ramp and flash in guys as needed. I actually had the most fun playing vs a home brew monoblack vs my homebrew bant monsters. A buddy of mine plays a similar version of mono black and it can do some work.
Casual game vs Simic
I was so pumped when I started to see green and blue mana and creatures starting to get pumped out. he was one turn shy from landing his own Prophet of Kruphix. Once I land mine I can either flash in a bunch of dudes or make my lions mean. I did that plus when it came back to my turn I laid my Elpeth. What got me there was playing Kiora and using her minus -1 ability to let me draw a card and play a land giving me a short card advantage.
Casual vs R/W burn (1-1)
First game I was unable to get enough of my dudes out to get more damage done then dealt
Second game If I recall correctly I barely won this game. All that damage to the face hurts.
So after all the pre-release madness I traded some stuff to get the deck to go a bit faster and to get a foil fleecemane. I might shy a little away from the scry lands until the rotation hits. I want to do 2 of each scry lands and 1-2 of the shock lands each. I'm hoping to find a Hallowed Fountain and one more Temple Garden and that will settle it until they are gone. Here is the current deck list.
Basically what happened here was I started off slow and slowly regained control once my Ajani, Mentor of Heroes and Elspeth, Sun's Champion hit the table I was golden, but it was hard work getting them down with all the mill in this deck. Counter and oh btw mill two. Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver also made it hard to draw what I needed too. My opponent didn't use the -X ability so I was able to overpower eventually.
Game two R/G/B Monsters ?-1
Game 1 I got slowly overwhelmed because of early game removal. I had to keep both R/G planeswalkers in check the whole game
Game 2 I was on even terms with the opponent, but I got disconnected from the server.
Game three R/U/G
First match I Started INSANELY slow with 3 scry lands back to back. Master Biomancer into another one i knew that smelled ugly right after they both attacked.
Third match was pretty sweet. He double Master Biomancer again and I had dropped an Elspeth, Sun's Champion with another on its way. I got some chump blockers out and he tapped everything. He misplayed by not attacking with both biomancers to elspeth and kept her alive. or not getting in to the face to get a free card from the bident. So I ended up Mistcutter Hydra having x=6 making it so I could swing in for lethal.
Game four Black devotion 0-2
Ended up losing to pack rat in both games...nuff said.
Game 5 R/G 0-2
Game one he had the god hand. T3 courser T4 burning tree activate nyxthos to a arbor colossus T6 polukranos
Game two I had the god draw T2 lion T3 Carytid T4 prophet on their turn advent T5 ajani pump wurm
Game three he xenagod and Domri Rade my army away and ramped like mad to get his dudes out.
Game 6 2-1 Esper control
Game one I had another god draw. Even though the deck is set up to take out what killed my deck before and that's burn and control. When he board wipes i get indestructible. Then it just escalates from there.
Game two I was still learning the program at the time and f'd up the game so we just went game 3
Game three oh my lordyyy this was a longgggg game. Elixir of Immortality made it so he could go through his deck 3 times. Thanks to the Bow of Nylea I was able to get some of my cards from the graveyard back. I fought off 4 Elspeths and aprox 6-8 Jaces. Both types. Thankfully I had 3 monstrous Fleecemane lion and just finally swung and kept swinging. I could have lost maybe if he didn't let my sphinx rev resolve, but we where pretty done with the game and I had a large upper hand at the time even though he had 2 elspeth emblems lol.
I have decided on taking out Kiora, the Crashing Wave because she makes my deck run to slow, so in goes Ajani in her place. They get a free blocker sometimes when I really just need to beat their face in. Its debatable if i'll put her back in. Another remove is Sphinx's Revelation since I only own the one of and I don't plan on buying or trading for another with rotation just a few months away. Lucky I even have the shock lands...which I will admit they help insaneeeely. Another out is the grove land...just to much of a mana sink not to be used most of the time. Witchstalker is also out cause the 3 mana for a 3/3 with an ability I rarely get to use, it might still see play but for now...sideboarded. I also went down on 1 Prophet so I didn't end up have 2 In my hand at the same time. Then there are the minor + here and the - here. If you have questions or comments on why I did something or what you guys would do. Let me know.
2 Grove of the Guardian
3 Temple of Enlightenment
3 Temple of Mystery
4 Temple of Plenty
6 Forest
4 Plains
2 Island
4 Prophet of Kruphix
4 Fleecemane Lion
3 Sylvan Caryatid
3 Archetype of Courage
2 Witchstalker
2 Loxodon Smiter
3 Courser of Kruphix
2 Nylea, God of the Hunt
3 Deadbridge Goliath
2 Spear of Heliod

This is what I'm looking at fr a sideboard right now
2 Detention Sphere
1 Sylvan Primordial
2 Dissolve
2 Sundering Growth
2 Bident of Thassa
2 Mistcutter Hydra

Now i'm thinking:
-1 Deadbridge Goliath
-1 Nylea, God of the Hunt
+2 Prognostic Sphinx It will help me throw away everything I don't need and can set up Courser of Kruphixto be my land dropper. Plus it adds to the hexproof synergy.
To correct the mana base for more double island symbols
-1 Forest
+1 Island
