I am determined to make this work. I have been having somewhat decent success on cockatrice for the last 2 days trying this out. I would like to make it competitive to the point where it can stand it's own against the top decks like MonoB/U, Monsters, Naya aggro, etc...
I really suck at creating a good mana base, and with five colors I feel like this one is a real challenge. I've tried my best to avoid double colors so I don't get hung up with cards stuck in my hand.
Heroes downfall should theoretically be something better like doom blade or devour flesh... just not sure yet. Rapid Hybridization maybe?
Also, Underworld Connections feels like it should be a different draw card but I don't know what. It does mix so well with Courser and Kiora though.
Considering Primeval Bounty in place of something else... possibly instead of Vraska but she has proven her worth...
Anyway... please give me honest opinions and criticism and not just "5 color sucks bro" - and if you aren't sure why I am running a certain card or am not running certain cards lets discuss it please because there may be reasons for it, or things I don't notice/realize. No sideboard yet, still working on that.
Budget is not an issue.
Edit: no I don't want to run Maze's end or variations of that and TurboFog just isn't fun. So no.
Edit2: Also considering Quicken but not sure if it's worth it.
This is something I want to work also! Here are my thoughts:
For Super-Friends in the past, you would control the board until a planeswalker would go ultimate and you would have such an advantage that you win. This worked best when the abilities of the planeswalkers would allow sufficient control of the board, creating protection for you and your walkers. Here is an example of my favorite superfriends to play from the past.
I think the biggest distinction here is that the entire purpose of red is a splash solely for ajani vengeant. and is 2 colors otherwise. He does not stretch his mana base further.
Then I question elvish mystic. you want G turn one, then turn two you could ask for 1UW, 1BU, 1BB, or 1GG. It would be great if you everytime got elvish mystic into courser cruphix. I think your approach is too creature dependent for having 4 supreme verdicts.
I would choose
Ajani, Mentor
Ashiok
Elspeth
Jace, Architect
Vraska
(and would test out Gideon and kiora as well)
Focus on having three main colors, with one of the colors being a splash solely for the walker. At this point I have eliminated Red from the color choices. Given the four colors GBUW, I think it is a fight between G and B for the splashed color.
Green would allow us to use creatures to accelerate land production, while fixing colors. While black helps with removal and disruption. Given our mass creature removal, and that planeswalker games come down to attrition, I think black fits the strategy best. Giving us a U/W/B build, splashing for G in Vraska and Ajani.
