I just recently picked up the Jace vs. Vraska duel decks and am trying to make a decent deck even better. I want to make this viable in competitive standard (fnm and other standard tourneys). I want to build the deck around the deathtouch mechanic if at all possible. These are the cards I plan on running other than Vraska: Grisly Spectacle, Tragic Slip, Acidic Slime, Death-Hood Cobra, Reaper of the Wilds, Golgari Guildgate, Rogue's Passage, and Tainted Wood. Please make full decklists and why you chose to keep or leave out the aforementioned cards.
ok, here is the list of cards I would like to use instead of the previous mentioned cards that were not legal in standard: Vraska the Unseen, Reaper of the Wilds, Dark Betrayal, Wight of Precinct Six, Treasured Find, Rogue's Passage, Grisly Spectacle, Shadow Alley Denizen, Slate Street Ruffian, Stab Wound, Gatecreeper Vine, Stonefare Crocodile, and Golgari Guildgate. Here is the actual deck list I just came up with:

Here is the actual deck list I just came up with:
Planeswalker:
Vraska the Unseen x2 (need one)
Creatures:
Shadow Alley Denizen x2 (Need One)
Wight of Precinct Six x2 (Need One)
Gatecreeper Vine x2
Stonefare Crocodile x2 (Need One)
Wasteland Viper x4 (Need Four)
Jarad, Golgari Lichlord x2 (Need Two)
Reaper of the Wilds x4 (Need Three)
There are a lot of fairly cheap cards you could get that would improve the deck if you're inclined to pick them up. Regarding this list, you should start by moving the Dark Betrayals to the sideboard, as they are only useful against black decks. 4 copies of Rogue's Passage is too many. You only really want to draw one, so cut it back to at most 2. Your land count is too high in general. You have 30 lands listed here. For a deck where the casting cost tops out at 5, you probably want something closer to 22-24 lands.
1. Yes I am on a budget, I can spend up to but probably no more than one hundred dollars if there are no surprises during the month.
2. Right now I am more interested in specific cards than colors but if I had to choose the colors would be black and green.
3. I really enjoy being able to do otk's and eliminating threats.
One card that must be in this new deck is Vraska, I really have the need to build a deck around her.
Now I kept in mind that you said budget. There ARE better more expensive cards, and there's also a Dredge type of strategy that involves you putting creatures and cards in your own graveyard to boost creatures on the board. It's up to you, you can go a couple of different ways with this deck.
I’m glad you got hold of some Overgrown Tombs and ditched the Guildgates. Do you have any ideas for sideboarding? Dark Betrayal is a good one versus anyone playing Black.
and far as sideboard goes, not that much of a fan considering I like knowing what my deck can do from the git go and not to have to sub out cards to modify it to a particular threat

Indeed it is, and Pharika just seemed to go with the deck also other wise I would have gone with four Corpse Blockade instead. Also, would have preferred to have gone with Agent of the Fates instead but to have a wasted ability on a card just doesn't sit well with me.
Put gorgon's head on pharika, god of affliction and your golden. So to speak. Pharika and the ooze countermand each other though so that might not be smart to have each in the deck.

You can only put it on when Pharika is turned on as a creature, which in this deck may be really hard to do.
@Archmage Eternal. I believe bostonsteve is in fact correct. and considering the lack of actual other color specific permanents in the deck are lacking pharika is more there for his/her effect than being a 5/5 for 3. If she didn't have that effect she/he would be gone with the wind.

The first thing that you should think about is: What is my deck supposed to do ? How do I envision my deck to win ?
Just a few examples of how decks can win (there are tons of other strategies): You play cards that increase your mana supply (Elvish Mystic, Sylvan Caryatid etc.) and win casting big creatures (Sylvan Primordial).
Once you've found your strategy, try finding cards that help you executing said strategy and use 4 of all the cards that you want to see plenty of and 2 of all the other cards.
For a Vraska deck, it might be a good idea to go with the kill + bring out a threat strategy. Good cards (that aren't too expensive) are Deadbridge Goliath, Reaper of the Wilds and Herald of Torment (he might get more expensive).
Ok, while each of those cards is nice, it does not fit with what the deck is trying to accomplish, it is designed to kill opponents creatures so I can swing with reaper or use vraska's ultimate and rogue's passage for an instakill. granted getting her to her ultimate is going to be extremely difficult at best, I do have other options of win strategies. I do appreciate the comment, but going with the current build as of post #17. Unless there are a few black or green creatures w/ deathtouch in Journey to Nyx

A. Are you on a budget and if so, what is it?
B. What are your favorite colors to play?
C. What do you like doing / how do you want to win?
Let's start there and then build something fun.
2. Right now I am more interested in specific cards than colors but if I had to choose the colors would be black and green.
3. I really enjoy being able to do otk's and eliminating threats.
One card that must be in this new deck is Vraska, I really have the need to build a deck around her.
What I think you might find fun, and give some people fits is a deathtouch deck with lots of kill spells. My shell would be something like:
Sedge Scorpion
Wasteland Viper
Slitherhead
Deadly Recluse
Thrill-Kill Assassin
Dreg Mangler
Varolz, the Scar-Striped
Reaper of the Wilds (at least 3 of!)
Throw in some removal like:
Doom Blade
Ultimate Price
Devour Flesh
Hero's Downfall
Abrupt Decay (these are about $10 each.. but amazing)
Putrefy
And grab you land base of:
Golgari Guildgate
the new Temple that gives G/B
Rogue's Passage (only 2 of)
Now I kept in mind that you said budget. There ARE better more expensive cards, and there's also a Dredge type of strategy that involves you putting creatures and cards in your own graveyard to boost creatures on the board. It's up to you, you can go a couple of different ways with this deck.

They hate us cause they ain't us.
You can only put it on when Pharika is turned on as a creature, which in this deck may be really hard to do.

Oh I'm positive. It's an enchantment creature when it hits devotion. It's just an enchantment if it's not turned on.
Turned on.. Pharika.. hehe.
