Ya definitely! Experiment one should evolve every turn if you have the perfect drops until turn 4-5 so Ya Experiment One and Tormented would be very solid choices. God that is very strong set up, Turn one Experiment, turn two Lotleth (evolve) swing for 2, turn 3 Dreg mangler (evolve) swing for atleast 8 if you dont discard creatures to pump Lotleth

Awesome, I already have them so that should work great. Plus Exp 1 is a pain to get rid of after a two turns.
Well so far I am not liking Experiment One in this very much. It is complicating my early game quite a bit. I should have the rest of my Dreg Manglers, Abrupt Decays, and Golgari Charms in the mail in the next couple days. I will then be running this:
- I really like Boon Satyr in this deck actually. He has been working great. From screwing up combat math to getting an early beater to making my troll a giant regenerating beat stick.
- Witchstalker has also been great in this deck. Loving the hexproof. Bestowing Boon Satyr on him wins the game.
- Dreg Mangler I am not in love with, but I do love the Discard => Scavenge synergy with loltroll. I will keep him in the roster for now.
- Putrefy is amazing. Especially with stupid whips and bows running around everywhere.
- I am considering mainboarding Vraska. I only have 1 right now. Not sure if I should pick up another and throw her in.
- Reaper and DD are both great. A 3/2 split on them has been working well for me.
- Scooze is MVP, like always.
- Oh and I will be switching my Guildgate to shockland ratio when I can convince myself to buy two more Overgrown Tombs.
How is experiment one complicating your early game?
Because in my opening hand I have to decide if I want to play an Exp 1 to start the evolve process or just drop my Mystic to ramp to Witchstalker, Mangler, or Boon Satyr on turn 2.
This is probably mainly inexperience that is giving me the problem here.
To be fair, when he works, he absolutely wrecks.
How do you generally play him in a deck that is also running Mystic if you have both in your opening hand? I imagine it depends on if you have any good three drops in the opening hand as well?
It would indeed depend on if there are 3 drops to be had as well. It would also depend on what I'm up against.
Say my 3 drop is boon satyr. I'm playing against RDW. I'd certainly play experiment one since I may well end up playing something like scavenging ooze or lotleth troll turn 2, building up a defensive line that's harder to penetrate. Then I can just bestow boon satyr later. But if I was playing against a control deck and my 3 drop was waitchstalker, I'd of course go with mystic.
I could also end up with turn 1 mystic, turn 2 experiment one, scavenging ooze/lotleth troll with the evolve.
There's plenty of ways to do it. Depends on the situation.

That makes sense. So looking back at the decklist I posted, would you cut some of the higher curve creatures to keep exp 1?
You could. If you want more aggro. But you could also choose to tone down some of the other spells to make room. Its a matter of taste. You could also take a peek at the Fear the Reaper thread in the competitive forum. That's another possibility.

I actually was looking through that earlier and I liked it quite a bit. I might just SB Golgari Charm to make room, and then bring that in against the more aggro type matchups for the -1/-1 boardwipe.
I would actually mainboard a couple at least. Here's why.
Applications vs aggro - the wipe on X/1 things.
Applications vs midrange - wiping out dorks, shooting down whip of erebos and other weapons, and shooting down boon satyr.
Applications vs control - Saving you from supreme verdict, wiping out elspeth tokens, and end of turn shooting down detention sphere so you can swing with those fatties they got rid of a while ago.
I don't have any Thoughtseize, but I do have 4 Duress. Would that be a good mainboard? I could pull out the advents and populates with that. I will drop Ultimate Price and probably add a few more Doom Blades.
all can handle tokens, Doom Blade and Hero's will take care of the Armada. Yes run 4 Duress as those cards will help you take card of the Wurms early, especially if you dont have Thoughtseize
Regarding your problem with Experiment One I would say he works best in a shell where you do not want to ramp, Like the deck list I gave you a couple days ago. The reason why he is better as a one drop for aggro type decks is because he can evolve fast and become a very strong beater, now in the deck your currently playing he doesnt quite find a home as most of your aggroish beaters are two turns after you drop him, thus making his early evolving really pointless. At the end of the day I would suggest if your going to be playing the deck you currently listed Elvish mystic is a must over Exp1 And if you are going to go the route you are currently one I would suggest alittle more ramp Sylvan Caryatid and Voyaging Satyr are two solid choices.

Thanks for the tips man. Sylvan Caryatid is a good idea.
In regards to the GW Populate deck, I don't have any Gaze of Granite's and my LGS is sold out, so I think I will sideboard in 4 Duress, drop Ultimate Price, and bring in some more Doom blade. Maybe bring in Vraska the Unseen?
Experiment one is more useful against aggro than populate but I will certainly say that it is friends with sylvan caryatid. Especially with reaper of the wilds and desecration demon at cmc 4. It has its place.
If you don't have gaze of granite, do you have ratchet bombs? Ratchet at 0 kills tokens.
Would love other people's Opinions on my current deck, I know I want to drop the Dreg Mangler. Especially after friday I found the card to be just a 3/3 for 3 that I was dropping to block against Aggro decks. Or by the time I could drop it I would rather spend it on a removal spell.

Good call. I do have one ratchet bomb. Maybe I can pick up some more pretty soon here.
13 cards that effectively are cmc 4 and up. Needs something to wall against aggro. Seems to add up for sylvan caryatid nicely. Blocks turn 2 and accelerates your turn 4 to turn 3 instead of you wasting a kill spell on turn 3.
Ya, Ratchet Bombs are solid choices and I wish I would have thought of it. Only reason why i am running Gaze over the Bomb is due to Gaze does everything cmc x and below.

Ya I was thinking the same thing. The only question is do I want to run 4 of the Sylvans 1 for 1 for the Dregs or would I want to change my creature base as a whole? was thinking about dropping a reaper and upping a Desecration but at the same time I hate the idea of continuously getting my demon tapped down
Well, its also worth noting that gaze has more stringent mana constriction than bomb and bomb costs 1 less. Bomb can also selectively cripple GW devotion's devotion build. Turn 2 ratchet bomb, inviting them to BTE into voyaging satyr or sylvan caryatid.

Ok I played this deck against Selesnya tokens, Gruul Aggro, and Black Devotion tonight.
Against Selesnya- 2-0.
- Removal was the name of the game in this one. I was running 3 Putrefy, 3 Abrupt Decay, and 3 Ratchet Bombs. The bombs wiped the tokens and in the meantime I would play spot removal on his Armada Wurms and 5/5 tokens. The Dreg Manglers absolutely wrecked him in both games.
Against Gruul Aggro/Ramp- 3-0
- I ran 3 Decay, 3 Putrefy, and 3 Doom blades in this one. First game he couldn't get his mana going and I just plodded away with a Witchstalker and Boon Satyr.
- Second game he got some decent mana going but on turn two, i had a Dreg Mangler and Elvish Mystic swinging. Turn three another Dreg Mangler, turn 4 a Reaper. He wen't down pretty fast.
- Third game was probably the best representation of both decks. He got his BTE => Voyaging Satyr on turn two. I dropped an Elf, then dropped a Lotleth Troll. I had Abrupt Decay and Doom Blade in my opening hand and I sat on them for a while and kept building up creatures and my Scavenging Ooze. He dropped his Savageborn Hydra, I hit Doom Blade, bestowed my Boon Satyr on a Dreg Mangler, and it was over.
Against Black Devotion - 2-1
- This guy builds great decks and always gives me my biggest challenge. His is similar to the one everyone is running but slightly different (according to him, looked the same to me). I out aggro'd him on game one. Game 2 he got a nuts draw and Ultimate Price'd my Desecration Demon, Hero's Downfalled my other Demon, and then dropped two DD's in a row. I couldn't draw any of my removal.
Game 3 was closer, but I had Doom Blade, Putrefy, and Abrupt Decay in my opening hand, so I had an answer for pretty much everything. I won with an Ooze and the Manglers on this one.
Overall I am very happy with the deck. If anything I want to add more removal.
Post the final list you are running sounds good and happy your list is running how you wanted. seems like it is tuned well for your area, just need to probably tune it just alittle more and you will be seeing top 3 at FNM

I think I just want to drop a creature or two and add more removal/disruption. Might remove the Desecration Demons but I'm not sure, I really like those guys.
